- We left Yellowknife for Edmonton on the 2nd of May and returned on the 6th July, No sign of Raymond, but on the 20th of July a Raven started to squawk at me on our roof, I held a piece of bread in my hand and he came to the balcony and proceeded to eat it!!!!! Merlyn...

I work with hundreds of birds every day and the feather fluffing shows he likes the sounds you're making. I'm very envious. This is my favorite kind of bird.

Corvidae (ravens, crows, etc) can recognize individual faces and will remember faces of the people who were nice to them (and, also, mean to them). I love how this one seems to instantly recognize him and just hops right on over. 😊

A guy was walking one day and a something kept falling on his shoulder. He'd look around no one around but a bag of chips on the ground. After the third time he realized the bag was following him. That's when he looked up and this Raven was looking down at him from a boardwalk canopy, hopping along. It was picking the bag up again and again, dropping it on him, then flying back up... He ignored. Kept walking. This bird picked up the bag again and dropped it on his head one final time and just looked at him. That's when the guy realized... The bird wanted him to open the damn thing. He did and set it down. The Raven hopped over, picked up the bag and flew back to the cafe awning down aways again.

Buy some walnuts. Ravens (and pretty much all birds) love walnuts. Feeding them bread is not ideal.
Delightful. One wonders if this is the only visitor this elderly welsh guy gets to brighten his day.
My daughter moved into an old vicarage and the old front doorbell didn't work. Every time she pressed the button it went "craggh, craggh." She went inside and replaced the batteries in the main box quite a few times, jiggling wires and trying to find out what was wrong with it. Then she suddenly realised there was a crow up on the garage roof that was making the awful sound, the doorbell was completely dead ! We still laugh a lot over that !
