Nurse and nursing is a generic term covering some different professional qualifications and jobs. There are also some more demanding specialist qualifications. These different qualifications and jobs come naturally with different salaries. Also the nature of the jobs can be different for instance some have mostly 3 shifts. To compare those different jobs together as a one job in different countries can give only very rough understanding. Also, labor markets in all countries don't have some very uniform salary level's. The obvious reason is the demand for manpower and different organisations having different abilities to compete with different benefits of which the salary is a big component. In my country the inflow of immigrant nurses has been an important way of getting more people to the nursing sector. It alone isn't enough. Labor unions have started to push stronger for higher salaries but also for some other changes. Some have already been implemented like some educational chances, but it will take some time to bring fruits. Higher salary and other better work-life conditions probably will attract more young people to consider a nursing career and perhaps stop some experienced ones leaving to other jobs. This could cut down some of the demand for foreigner workforce but it is also likely to offer them better work-life benefits and less demanding work - hopefully.
