It's great that the Internet lets artists see how much people still appreciate their work even if it's been decades :) I wonder if they ever thought of this kind of connection when they first created their art.
Indeed! What Mark Jones and the other game developers have done is more then remarkable... ! They planted alot of seeds within us as childs that is still growing today and with youtube e.t.c our gratitude will show even more.. The advenure is growing still today and im glad to be a part of all of it.. Im sure that even Mark Jones himself are a heavy gamer to (Even today !) .. =) =) =)
13 or so years later and this is still my favourite game, loved the story and the graphics oh especially the forest and houses I would still play this if it was on ps4! Somebody make it happen!!!!!!
I was born in 91 and this was one of the first amiga games i have fond memories of playing as a kid, I never got passed the second area with the troll/orcs, i thought this was hard as a kid but it really is hard with hidden areas.
I'm blown away by the quality of the pixel art in this. This is to the standards of guys like the Bitmap Brothers and Psygnosis (to a lesser degree). I must get my hands on this, it looks very playable as well even by today's standards.
This game start as Darkstone and was going to be Darkmare continuation, but during development Core Design change their minds and decide it will not be related to Darkmare. Both games was made by Mark Johnes from graphic side.
"Once upon a time, Press Fire to select form..." well, that was weird. With a bit of work and change in game design. You could totally sell this as a "good" modern indie game. I would buy it.
a 2h longplay .... one of them games you REALLY just grinded to remember and re-do things and write down where and what on a paper so you didnt fuck up next time. 2 hours! goddamnit thats a long amiga game.
When I saw screen shots of this game, starting from over 20 years ago, I got vibes of the Chaos Engine, but seeing this game in action it's a lot more than just a clone! Lots of places to explore, puzzles to solve and people to speak to! I would love the sword-and-sorcery setting too!
Blimey I played the demo of this game during the early 90s, and still wouldn't mind playing it again, does anyone know if I could grab hold of a demo of it? It seems to have vanished off the face of the internet.
I could lend you my CD32 and the original gamedisc :) bought it but never had the time to play it long enough. but is quite entertainung. and really nice for an "amiga-zelda" :)
Mark Jones art shines through the whole game. Always loved his style.
+deceiver Thanks for the kind words! This was my last 'real' pixel game. After this I transitioned to the Elder Scrolls and a mix of 3D and 2D.
It's really some quality stuff, all the small details like the giant mushrooms in the forest...
wow how awesome is that. Suddenly Mark Jones himself comes to reply you Deciever.. And now one year later you still cant catch ur breath or ? haha =)

Any Gauntlet you can finish is a good Gauntlet :) And this one is astonishing on top of that...

Good god!! I haven't seen this in over 15 years! Used to play it on my Amiga A600 back in the day. Really brought back memories this!

Still I have it in a original box for Amiga ;-)

I always wondered where that program Shooting Stars got the words "Iranoo" and "Uvavu" from! Now I know!
