    This song in general kicks MAJOR ass. But as a drum-only track, it really enables you to open your ears and eyes and totally appreciate what is going on 110%. And therefore be totally blown away all over again.
    Utterly phenomenal stuff, as expected from the mighty Kollias.

  • @Andrewdoesbass

    He just never ceases to amaze. Just when you thought he had done it all....he does it again, only faster and cleaner.

    Even if I wanted to hate on this video I would not know what to talk about. Awesome sound, awesome drumming, phenomenal timing, yet emotional in a certain way and very inspiring for young musicians. We live in a good world (or at least it could be worse) - people like george are able to earn their bread by doing this kind of awesome stuff. :D

    So clean and consistent, even at some of the highest tempos... George Kollias never fails to please. One of the best drummers out there in my opinion \m/

    In this genre, you really need to hear the product of the whole band to get the effect. I definitely agree that the separate parts sound similar, it's what they all do together that makes them so unique.

  • @kdubya90
    @kdubya90 13 років тому +3

    I just now showed my dad this and he's like "Where's the fucking power at? Like John Bonham." I tried to explain to him that with drummers of this style it's more about how you use your hands and feet, more broken down, more technique oriented, less is more kind of a thing. Basically that's what I've gathered out of tons of video of my favorite drummers. I just thought it was an interesting conversation and gave my take on the generation gap/evolution of style. Accurate statement, drummers?

    • @alk3603
      @alk3603 11 місяців тому

      It’s funny he says that because George has some of the most power the tech death drumming world has ever seen lol… this is a comment from when I was still in second grade, but if it still holds up, tell him that high speed equals less velocity capacity, as in it’s impossible to do these speeds while hitting as hard as John Bonham does at low 100s because high speed means some velocity has to be sacrificed

    @RedOnChrome In my experience, the reason most death drummers use 16th note and 16th note triplet fills is because that is what the guitars are doing, and it goes with the overall feel of the song. Unless you get into the techy stuff, most death metal is based around 16th notes and 16th note triplets. It's all about the flow of the song and what fits it best.

    @FurbyParade226 Heel-toe would require you to lift your heel too. Lifting your leg and slamming your heel in along with the rest of the leg is still heel-up as well. And while, yes, he does lift his heel, the secret to his speed is the ankle rotation, not his heel going up. I'd argue that his technique is not THAT much different from heel toe.

    I'm not pointing to any mistike man. He is George Kollias (he would never have a mistake XD) and one of my favorite drummers. Also, by the way, Death Metal is one of my favorite genres in music. I listen to bands like this, Nile, others like JFAC, Black Dahlia, Spawn Of Possession, Beyond Creation, Gorod, etc. and they all blow me away! Blastbeats, fills, and double bass in 200bmp or higher can't be played by anyone. And yes, I can't play this yet. I still need lots of practice to achieve this..
