Just got myself a used one. A friend used to borrow me one back in the day from time to time. I used to work cw/ssb contests in the summer, I went up my parent's roof and hooked it up to a 14 elements yagi. Man, that was fun. I want to do this again from my house in Rome now. 73 de IK0ZSN.
I just recently bought a pile of older radios from an old silent keys family. One of these radios was in the pile and thanks to your video I was able to get it back on the air and in fact it is now my base station in my house. I really like this radio and I’ve been using it for a few months now and have had good luck with it. Thanks again for such a good documentary video. KG5TKF
Do you know of any resources for saving new info into the memory channels? I recently got one of these and cannot make heads or tails of the instructions in the manual. New to the hobby and am loving this little unit.
Andrew Parker I have to check comments more often. I’m hoping you figured it out- most likely if it isn’t playing nice the internal battery is dead. Otherwise you just hold m until you hear 8 beeps and press mem number 1-8 (9 and 0 can store odd splits and are different)
+Timothy Parry Jr The radio won't send DMTF over the faceplate, nor does it store dtmf memories like newer rigs. you either need the dtmf microphone or you can just use something like a smartphone to generate the tones while you key the regular mic.
Where does anyone anywhere still use an Auto Patch? I have not heard one in many years anywhere even in my travels. The GasFet Front End on the Kenwood TR-751A is one of the best if not the best found in any 2 meter Multi Mode.I have owned four of them & they are Awesome.I own an ICOM 275A & the only reason I chose it is because it's a Multi Mode Base Radio & I have an all ICOM station.
