    Thanks so much for this very helpful tutorial on upgrading RAM. I changed from 8gb to 16gb. Runs great and feels good to have twice the RAM that it did have. And thanks for ALL the tutorials you have.

    Thank you for posting this mate.
    Awesome video that helped me a lot to put in a "Vengeance DDR4 32GB 2666MHz" RAM .
    every one else on youtube says it dosent work with 32GB but it worked fine, i just updated bios right before i installed it and the ram showed up right after startup. :-)

      regarding your upgrade, ya some some reason i have no idea why in the hell is that the specs sheets of all laptop online on the official site always say mas support ram way less than what it actually can handle. also same goes to the HDD or SSD specs they always say 500gb max capacity and NOP its up to 2tb hands down. its like ... come on its sata 6 and m.2 pcie why would you say m.2 pci-e slot max 500gb !!!
      but im glad that you didn't go with what you read and tested out by your self :P enjoy your upgrade my friend.

      do you think it's worth it? was there a big boost to performance? i have this with 8gb and it's not enough, i was going to put 16gb but if 32 is a lot better i'll go that route

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  3 роки тому

      @@baphometic8767 you have to know what you want to do, if you want to do gaming 16gb is the sweet spot, widows will not go faster after 8gb, so i would always say to my clients 16 for gaming and work, if you going to do video editing in 4k or stuff like that then 32 because the file that you going to open will be big and it will require more ram.

    I’m planning on upgrade my 17inch version of l340 which comes with i7 9th, 128gb ssd+1tb hdd and 16gb ram. I’m wonder if mine has 2 slots of ram. It currently works on single channel(1x16). I’ve done some research but couldn’t find anything useful related to the ram slots. Also I wonder if it has one more spare storage slot which I can place a m2 ssd because I don’t want to remove the current one because I don’t want to install windows again. I don’t want to remove the hdd because its storage is enough but the speed isn’t so it’s a burden on games.

      #1, NO to a coin use for opening, must be a opening tool or a metallic guitar pick.
      #2, The bottom case will snap to its place with a nice firm pinch (use more force on pinch).
      #3, if you get the correct ram it will recognize on the 1st try , you may have to wait 15sec after pressing the power on, so the motherboard does the ram check. if nothing then defective ram (return), compatible ram we use: amzn.to/40suRrk
      #4. Stop worrying so much 🍻

The bone was properly selected parameters, maybe apart from speed, old 2666, new 2400MHz. I also didn't disconnect the battery during the replacement. I put in the old bone, it doesn't work either. you can't change that the bios and the motherboard will take that 3200 and will auto adjust to the max hz it can put the ram to, in this case the 32gb ram can be pushed to 2400.

    Is there anyway I could manually solder memory onto the board to get dual channel ?

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  3 місяці тому +2

      🫠Regarding your question, yes, you can. You will need to order a RAM chip from AliExpress and get a heat gun, flux, and experience with reballing. If you heat too much or too fast, the chip will get damaged, and if you heat for too long, it will also get damaged. If you heat for too little time, it will not solder. Reballing requires experience; we do that for our clients. I would highly recommend you go to good tech support and tell them to solder RAM chips.
      Should you have any further questions or requests in the future, please don't hesitate to ask me.

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  Рік тому +1

      Thank you for your feedback! If you wish to support the channel, you can like, subscribe, or both!
      Regarding your question, i would recommend 2Rx8 it is best for the performance, or get this CL19, very solid and awesome performance
      amzn.to/3sx0R2k
      here is some info about both:
      1Rx16:
      "1R" indicates a single rank module, meaning it has a single set of memory chips that are accessed together.
      "x16" means the data bus width of each memory chip is 16 bits.
      This configuration typically uses fewer memory chips on the module.
      It can provide higher memory density since it uses fewer chips, making it more cost-effective and potentially allowing for larger capacity modules.
      The module may support slower speeds compared to other configurations.
      2Rx8:
      "2R" indicates a dual rank module, which means it has two sets of memory chips, and each set is accessed separately.
      "x8" indicates the data bus width of each memory chip is 8 bits.
      This configuration uses more memory chips on the module.
      It might provide better memory performance in certain scenarios due to the dual rank setup, but it can also be slightly more power-hungry.
      Typically, 2Rx8 modules are more common and widely compatible with various laptop systems.
      Should you have any further questions or requests in the future, please don't hesitate to ask me.

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  3 роки тому

      im assuming that you have your windows on your 256gb ssd?, to verify that is you main C drive is 256gb.
      if you then you should have a second HDD , you have a 2nd HDD right?
      if so, you will need to do the following:
      back up all your documents and files and in to a new folder in your external drive or your 2nd storage that is your HDD.
      then you need to create a windows 10 usb boot drive:
      -get a 16gb usb stick
      -follow my video on how to create the usb boot drive
      ua-cam.com/video/uDu8j2lE-dM/v-deo.html
      once the usb boot is ready:
      once that is done, plug the usb into the laptop, then you will Restart the PC, then press F12 (Fn+F12) to select boot option and select the usb drive to boot from USB disk.
      then to do a proper installation follow this video to see the proper option selecting for the windows installation.
      ua-cam.com/video/7f_rBp6Rb3s/v-deo.html
      ( watch it after @3:20 )
      Note:
      before installation in your windows open up the disc manager :
      To open Disk Management, right-click the Start button and select Disk Management.
      once in the disk manager then see and write down to know what drive is your 256gb ssd labeled with:
      DISK0 or DISK1
      for example in the image attached you will see that my laptop has my ssd on DISK0.
      imgur.com/a/0vc8Ve4
      now with this information on hand once you in windows installation steps, when you get to the step where you have to delete partitions: make sure you delete all the partition related to the DRIVE0 or DRIVE1.
      do NOT DELETE THE DRIVE that is you hdd, else you will loose your backup.
      imgur.com/a/27czbia
      (in this picture there is only one drive present) your will have drive 1 and drive 0
      IF YOU DONT NEED ANY backup then erase everything on that step and choose the 500gb ssd and click next.
      if you need more personalized help let me know i will gladly help you via whatsapp when you doing the installing.

      regarding your issue: it happens often that bios dont detect the rams , i recommend you to follow the steps: remove the ram, and remove the battery and charger , press and hold the power ON for 30sec, after plug in the ram and then the battery and power on and wait 10sec. it should detect it. if the above didn't work then you may have a defective or DOA ram.

    My mother board was damaged and irepairable now. I was aware of the extra precaution of disconnecting the power supply from the battery (3:30) but my excitement and subconscious that says its ok not to disconnect, i webt on without disconnecting. So take the extra precaution.

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  2 роки тому

      if you upgrading the ram SSd you never ever need to disconnect the battery at all absolutely no need. there is no way one can damage the board.
      in other most of the laptop they have a little cover to access the ram only or the ssd. if it was so important to remove the battery then they would never leave a cover for upgrading only ram or ssds.
      so if you damaged the board its not because of the bad ram installation you must have touched other placed or something. i appreciate the feedback, thank you

    • @uFixTek

      because you BIOS and your motherboard can read 16gb @ 2600mhz

      no problem its my pleasure to help, and yes if you get a 3200 ram but your motherboard will decide what the max ram that it can handle. also only in PC and high end laptops you can turn on an option in bios (XMP) that will activate the max ram support, but in your laptop that option is not available.

      @uFixTek  2 роки тому

      Thank you for the feedback! if you wish to support the channel you can LIKE or SUB or both :P
      regarding your question: the reason is that the bios will adjust it self to the supported speed of the ram based on ram size. on PC motherboards you can force the speed by activating the XMP option in your bios, but your mother board doesn't have this option so you can only run 16gb at 2400
      but again if you have INTEL CPU you don't need to worry about this as intel cpu don't care much about ram speed.

    You should always remove battery before upgrading ram!!! I did not and now I have to spend money to repair not booting laptop...

    • @uFixTek
      @uFixTek  5 місяців тому +1

      No, you don't need to remove the battery or disconnect it. What likely happened is that the device was not powered off, or during the opening, you lifted the LCD, which may have triggered the power on.
      No laptop requires you to disconnect the battery to upgrade the SSD, HDD, or RAM. If you know the schematics, you would understand. However, it's unfortunate for you because your laptop might have been on suspended mode, or the display was opened during the process.
      Some manufacturers recommend disconnecting the battery to eliminate human error in not powering off the device or as an extra precaution. The reason we don't recommend disconnecting the battery is that it resets the BIOS to its default settings, causing you to lose any performance configurations.
      I hope you can get it fixed.

      all i can say it has nothing todo with ram upgrade with battery connected, i can make a short video and i will, to show you that with battery connected and powered off and can remove the ram and even try installing it sideway to short the pins and the laptop will not get damaged. i'm 100% sure something went wrong at removing the cover maybe the opening tool touched the board when opening the cover something BUT NOT the ram that caused the short.
