  • This is the story and strategy behind my 2011 MI public land swamp funnel buck. With huge marshes, lots of water and thousands of acres that you don't even have to scout, narrowing down a giant buck on heavily pressured public land may be a whole lot easier than you think!
    Our new seed blends are available NOW! Check out our www.whitetailh... for more details. We are so excited to officially introduce to you, WHS Wildlife Blends! New seed orders for our Big Boost Brassica and Fall Power Greens will ship to you by 7/22, which is just in time for the August planting season.

    I just put 3 cameras on a dry island between 2 swamps last week, I'm expecting to see some swamp donkeys! I did find an old blind and old stand back there so I know some other people have hunted it, but I had to get real wet and muddy to get back there so I bet that will keep most people out.

      Hi Dylan! I like going hunting for the strategy and challenge. That means I try and take the better bucks in the area, and it also means I go hunt public land within a couple of hours and fins a good hunt. That's the beauty of public...you can always go find better hunting 😊 However, I would sit back and enjoy the Fall woods and go for a buck that is one of the better ones in the area. A very good mock scrape setup can tell you what's out there...even minerals if legal in your area.

    I understand you're emphasizing swamps & funnels , but how might 0xbows entering your equation?

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751  2 роки тому +1

      Depends on the River...low water easy access are the same as islands. High bank deep water they are avoided by deer and deer don't actually use the oxbow because it IA a dead end. Just depends a lot on the river and bank...

    You and the others like you are destroying chances for real hunters by giving this play by play. Used to take years and a love of the woods to learn. You said it yourself. “Now we narrow a few thousand acres into a few hundred” now y’all have hundreds of people smashing through the small spots good hunters used to work all year to find. People walk-in in on you two miles back. None of you would kill any of your big deer if you started now. Just gaslighting tens of thousands of people to go wonder around “way back”

      Unfortunately very few have what it takes...and very few work that hard. So, really preaching to the choir and only a few soloists actually try...
      What I'm really trying to do is to help people wade thru the enormous collection of bad content with bad advice 😉 That's a tough job in itself. Merry Christmas!

    I’m watching a video on hunting public land. Why are you advertising seed for food plots that can only be planted on private property?

    ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR VIDEOS. Would like to know about mixing herbicides(granules), with fertilizer. Also, splitting fertilizer applications when planting plots.

    Random question, if I have a buck that shows up every 3-4 days what are the chances he comes back during the fall.(this is the first time I’ve put cameras up during the summer, the land that my cameras are on always has bucks on it.)

    Thanks Jeff,swamps make for good funnels but the edge of large blocks of monotonous timber types is often overlooked. Edges are great funnels,especially where several types meet as you point out.

    Hi Jeff, I live in the Duluth MN area. There is some public land here and it's about 2,000 acres, most of it swamp land. There are also lots of hiking and snowmobile trails. I know this land pretty well but never hunted it due to high pressure. With limited places to go, it seems like it would be hard to get away from people. I am totally willing to put the work in to hike a half hour into the woods, but I want to maximize my opportunity and get away from people. Any tips for smaller public land areas? Thanks for taking the time to read this if you get the chance

    For those hunters who do not have the physical mobility of youth, I suggest looking for pinch points along logging roads. The big bucks don't like to cross the road in daylight hours but will cruise those pinch points. Look for pinch points between bodies of water and the road, or other terrain that deer avoid. Another great video with fantastic advice.

    • @rudygeorgiamulesandcountry1594
      @rudygeorgiamulesandcountry1594 2 роки тому

      I'm one of those that lack the mobility of my youth.
      I'm staying up all night so that I don't overslept a 2nd opinion doctors appointment to learn more about a possible surgery that has the potential to give me at least some of my mobility back.
      I didn't hunt last year because the previous year I only went in about 250 yards, but found myself with barely enough stamina and endurance to find my way back out. We had about 16" of snow and I became concerned about tripping and falling in an area where nobody would find me.
      I'm in on 600 acres private timber lease that I can drive into, but that's in mountain out terrain of PA.
      I'm getting excited about the upcoming season and I'm hoping for advantageous weather where I can possibly set up a blind the legal distance from my truck.
      Maybe even arrive In the middle of the knight and sleep under the topper in the back of my my truck.
      I have a couple places where I hunt a1/2 mile of pinch point (funnel [?] ) between the edge of a marsh and a wide open Ag field. The problem is that its a mile or more from any access point. When I've hunted crossbow in there its taken me 2 hours to come out at night
