I like how you guys are honest and normal about having heat damage despite being most known for your healthy hair journey videos. Some people really try to act perfect and that's not realistic no matter how great you think your routine is. Your hair looks amazing.
No matter how many times I watch y’all straight to curly (and vice versa) routines, I always get so excited. Your hair was so shiny and pretty! #CurlsForTheGirls
Love that you guys are also naturals who like the versatility of wearing your hair straight & curly. I've been wearing mine straight all winter and I've loved it. Can't wait until it's a little warmer to rock my curls!
Hey. Just a quick question if you don't mind. I have gone heatless for years, but that also means when I trim, I lose unnecessary length😢. It's a struggle to maintain length because of that. So question, when you go straight for months like you said, how do you maintain moisture in between, washes. All my moisturizers revert my hair. How do you do it?
@@lydiahonchiri2649 hi! I prioritize deep moisture treatments/masks during wash days. I also wash my hair every 2 weeks when wearing it straight. Another thing is sometimes I'll do braidouts/twist outs on blow dried hair and apply cream products then
@@thealanadiaries thank you. I have 4c-super high porosity , and even doing that on wash days, can't sustain me for two weeks. Usually I have to drench my hair once a week. So maybe I'll just straighten when I need to trim. If you know creams though, that don't revert but moisturize, kindly recommended.
@@lydiahonchiri2649Yes. I straighten only when I need a trim. The only creams I use when straightening are cream rinses. I use the awapuhi wild ginger cream rinse with keratin followed by a leave in conditioner then style per your straight or culy routine. FYI twist outs always look more moistuized than a wash and go. I'm on a no heat journey, I noticed that not putting any heat to my hair and maintaining my trims my hair has become more bouncer. I use mint, rosemary, apple cider vinegar something with aloe with B12 in it shampoo and conditioner products. I take my vitamins everyday
I just went from straight to curly last week. Also dusted my ends like you all recommended. It really does help. I'm one of those people who drag their shampoo down to their ends lol. I have long hair and when I went from that to only doing the scalp and rinsing the shampoo to my ends; it didn't work well for me. My hair WAS healthy, but then it started breaking off. I went back to my old routine and I was finally retaining my length again (no more breakage). Definitely do what works best for your hair. p.s. the same has happened to me. My scalp is more itchy than normal and I can't stretch my straight hair to 4 weeks anymore. I'm lucky if I make it to 3 weeks lol.
I’ve been watching y’all channel for over a decade now and I still love watching these hair videos. They are very helpful. Your curls are popping. When was the last time you and Kendra went to a hair salon? Y’all are a perfect example of you can do it yourself. And I love how clean and neat y’all home is.
I think they both are licensed estheticians so its a bit different....but i agree...seeing someone have a simple routine thats stood the test of time is inspiring.
I will definitely check out that detangling rinse. What a smart product! Yes please to a heat damage video! And maybe explaining the wet plop please lol? I’m not up on natural hair terms anymore.
I thought I was tripping when I noticed one side of my hair was thicker than the other. Hearing you say it let's me know that I'm not. Lol. I love watching y'all's beauty / self care routines.
What could be negatively affecting your scalp is the cowashing that you all have been doing over the years. Over time, usually a few years, many women are now suffering from scalp problems and massive hair loss. Look into it! 👍
I did that for a short period of time way back, at the start of this move of keeping your natural hair...and by short period of time i mean maybe 5 wash days in between shampoos washing. It didnt work for me because i realised my hair didnt look as defined as when i strip it of of all the built up. But i am currently suffering from sensitive scalp. I dont kno what to do... i dont use heat like that, just to stretch the hair but not that much at all, i use scrunkies for that. I tried oiling the scalp, i tried not oiling the scalp... i dont kno what to do...
@Leila Barbosa I'd suggest using a gentle clarifying shampoo either weekly or twice a month. My favorites are aveda clarifying shampoo (small bottle is $18) or the moroccanoil clarifying shampoo (small bottle is $26.) If neither of those work for you find one, preferably salon quality, that does. Your scalp is suffering from buildup, and consistent use of a clarifier will prevent that. Your hair itself is dry because it's not getting cleansed well, so water isn't getting in to be able to hydrate it, leaving it looking and feeling brittle and dry. Sadly, oil doesn't fix that. Good news, a great shampoo and conditioner will! My fav is the moroccanoil moisture repair shampoo and conditioner. I follow that up with the macadamia hair mask (protein free) as well as protein free stylers. My hair doesn't like coconut oil or hydrolyzed wheat protein, so I avoid products with those in it. Eating whole foods, drinking water, getting routine blood work, low maitence low tension hair styles with a consistent regime with few products has always worked for me. If you have any more questions, my ig is the same as my UA-cam name. You can DM me there!
@@morgan.greene woow. Thank you so much for the time you took to try and help me out. I will definately will try and find a clarifying shampoo to give it a try. Thank u so much. I too did co-washing when I first went natural, But my scalp didn't like that. It left my scalp itchy, dry, and hard to manage. I now use ouai detox shampoo once a month to remove build up since my hair is fine and low porosity.
My hair is about your length and texture.. and I have the same issue.. the cowlick (same area) thinner ( same area) and prone to more damage in that area… I always attributed to when I was relaxed and wrapping my hair every night from that same area.. like it always had the most tension.. That was my number 1 reason for going natural..
I did this my hair was so dry I have been looking for new products to use now since i want to just embrace my curly hair more, its nice to see a new video of products I can use
The itchy scalp maybe the need for you to increase shampoo sessions to two to three times a month. I use an all purpose shampoo weekly and sometimes mid week moisturizing shampoo. And trust your hair will thrive. Clarify once every 4 to 6 weeks. Co washing isn’t cleansing for the scalp. No shade just trying to help. Love your videos!!!!
i honestly blame covid.. for months we couldn’t get braids or protective styles done because nobody was working. and now these stylists charge outrageous, unaffordable prices. i started straightening my hair and it’s completely straight even when i wash it. im not going to cut it, im just gonna get trims and protective styles until it’s normal again.

Thanks for showing your complete routine. We don’t have similar hair but I have been looking for a gel to use on my curls. I may try the one you mentioned.
That particular gel doesn't have much hold. I have a 4 b-c curl pattern, and my wash and go didn't last 2 full days. You may need to use it as a curl primer and top it with something with better hold.
shea moisture manuka honey deep conditioner made my hair fall out for 2 years because i didnt realise they changed the ingredients! just a warning to anyone else that might be using it and experiencing crazy hair fall
That's my favorite Shea moisture deep conditioner too! Thank you K for this info and curly or straight it looks gorgggggg 🥰. The kid's organics Shea butter detangling lotion is my jam summer or winter and it's great on my low porosity lengths. My wavy hair is heavier on the right side too. The curl bounce back tho👍👍😊.
I'm loving the video because you're tempting me to take my curly hair and go straight. My hair is thin and certain areas like some of the top in some of the crown little bit but I have very thick hair around the sides in the back and the curls just give it to thickness. I need some maintenance I need to do before I'd attempt that
It would save your hair i use it before I straighten my hair and after I straighten it when I wash it out it really makes your hair last plusss I recommend my favorite heat protectant and shampoo and conditioner its from twelve12 plant base hair care that takes out any impurities and makes your hair last a long time! You'll look like you came out the salon by doing it yourself! I used to fry my hair like the first use I was super uneducated but that gets rid of all the oils that shampoo so when your straightening it your not burning your hair from the oils.
