Bake in Korean is 'ppang gubgi'. Burning CD in Korean is 'gubgi CD'. Both use similar sound of 'cookie'. That's why a cookie roll in at the beginning & a CD roll out at the end. Cookie in asian culture simply means baked dough. It is no fault of Koreans that it carries sexual undertone in the western culture. Just like Korean 'nae-ga' means I. It is no fault of Koreans that it sounds like the 'N' word used in the western culture as slur against black people. People bashing NewJeans are either ignorant or opportunists wanting to eliminate them from competition against other rookies. The world is a better place when people stop looking through coloured lens at other cultures.
The only problem i seem to find is the age. um..I can see why you think that way but that's because cookie can mean something else in the english language, but not in Korea. Koreans only know cookie as the eating cookie, they know NOTHING about what Americans could think. I'm pretty sure there were no sussy intentions. I really hope you don't misunderstand..
There is no problem with the lyrics. Koreans used the expression "baking CD" from a long time ago, and cookies mean their debut album in the lyrics. That is the culture difference. This is a FAN SONG.
I've heard this explanation, but since one of the writers is a westerner, I actually think this is a sexual song that ADOR tried to cover up with the explanation that you said. I still love NWJNS, they sound amazing. But this one song make me uncomfortable. the other 3 songs are perfect though.
If it's a fan song, why do they address the song to "boys" directly? What sort of fan song asks fans to come their house? They're talking about CD's yet saying things like "I want to see you taste it/smell it"?

For those who misunderstood Cookie
To explain it one by one I made a paragraph for your reference.
“Made a cookie” referring to the song
“Softer than a brownie” here refers to the song attention which has a soft like chorus
“Living in ur head rent free” the songs being very addictive and always stuck in our heads.
“Made a cookie” a song for the crush
“Pick ur poison” here refers to Either replicating the feelings back or having them rent free on their mind ( the crushes mind )
“I’ll melt ur heart away” back to the first line “Made a cookie” they will melt his heart away with the song. “So good yeah” has 2 meanings the songs they made for him and them being able to melt their heart ( with the song )
Reference from first part of the song “it ain’t for free” it’s not free as they want the crush to like him back, “if you want it , u can get it” it’s like they are confessing their crush to the person, but he needs to confess ( replicate the feelings back) for more songs.
“Looking at my cookie” looking at the cd that had their song, “the sent alone will make u see it” the curiosity will make him come back them for listening to the song
“Taste it” is like a filler reference since u can taste actual cookies ( the ones u eat)
They mean that they want their crush to have a taste of their love for them( the crush) .
“You can’t stop at one bite” since they baked a song the crush can’t just take one look at it, but the crush needs to also listen to it as well.
And lastly, “Cookie” passed the broadcasting stage meaning they can perform this song on all shows so if you see something wrong with these lyrics it’s on YOU.

Please react twice icant stop me it's a vocal song and there albums are dope
Great react i like your reaction
BUT! You should react to NewJeans 'hurt' I think you really like that song!
seb pls react to their other title track hype boy
some of the lyrics was mistranslated
It’s good, I’m going to listen to it, but I’m not okay with it
Attention, Hurt, Hypeboy >>>> Cookie
um..I can see why you think that way but that's because cookie can mean something else in the english language, but not in Korea. Koreans only know cookie as the eating cookie, they know NOTHING about what Americans could think. I'm pretty sure there were no sussy intentions. I really hope you don't misunderstand..
14~18years old…
Hi seb, can you react to pixy - addicted?
Hi there please react to SF9 SCREAM you haven’t react to them on your channel.
Seb, this is not their best song. Hurt and Hype Boy are much better songs, you should react to them! :)
There is no problem with the lyrics. Koreans used the expression "baking CD" from a long time ago, and cookies mean their debut album in the lyrics. That is the culture difference. This is a FAN SONG.
Ohh
I've heard this explanation, but since one of the writers is a westerner, I actually think this is a sexual song that ADOR tried to cover up with the explanation that you said. I still love NWJNS, they sound amazing. But this one song make me uncomfortable. the other 3 songs are perfect though.
If it's a fan song, why do they address the song to "boys" directly? What sort of fan song asks fans to come their house? They're talking about CD's yet saying things like "I want to see you taste it/smell it"?
@@xyzopa7324 BTS sings "I need you girl" and the song is not actually about a girl
@@MBella123 Don’t be stupid and don’t @ me with dumb sh*t again. If you were naive enough to believe I NEED U was a fan song, you should ask your school to give you all your school fees and whatever tuition you paid back because they clearly failed in their job.
Catchy but yes sexual they know what they are doing! Totally inappropriate for these young girls
Hey if you wanna die of laugh i recommend you EXO SEXO VINES!
New jeans is nothing sexual I think new jeans is not sexual
It's not sexual. It's just Americans' mindset. Stop putting everything into your own frames. Only Americans read into it. For Koreans it's just a cute song. Stop being xenophobic
american??? even iam asian can feel something so WEIRD about the lyric... dont want to lie at the first time read that line "looking at my cookie, taste it, bite, you want it more boy" got me a bit shooked.
@@claude434 first, English subs are not correct on this. Second, what language do u speak? Korean? No? Than u better stfu, cause in Korean culture cookie is never used to refer to smth dirty.
웃기지마, 창작자가 의도가 있었다면 한국에서도 문제삼아야할 일이야
너 멋대로 차별이라고 생각하지마
Fans defending these lyrics are ridiculous
I did not enjoy the song at all, but the choreography is cute 👍
cookie = their album
