Nice! I'll be putting my fig trees out tonight. Being cautiously optimistic, but definitely keeping an eye on the forecast. Growing in NE Indiana Zone 6A
Took out the container figs earlier this year. Don't have as many as you have, so to do the shuffle dance is not cumbersome. Also uncovered the inground Figs. Trying to keep my collection small and manageable.
@@kleineroteHex I cut the inground Figs to 18 inches above ground and cover them with mulch 15 inches high. In January we had minus 17 degrees Fahrenheit. Now they all are waking up nicely. Denver Co zone 5b 6a.
@Danielseven-ir2mq thank you! I killed a fig by piling on leaves, which got basically waterlogged. So I didn't want to make that mistake again. The guy I got my original 2 figs from built wire cages around his and filled them with leaves, never cut them back. My main fig goes in the cellar over winter, soon need to get it out.
i only am getting 3 years out of my existing landscape fabric with weeds coming thru sections of it. So I am thinking of buying a new big roll and was wondering if I should just lay it on top of the old one or rip up the old one first. What did YOU do??
@@PAFigs Good! I was thinking the same thiung except I am gonna lay down big pieces of card board (from a refrigerator boxes) on top of the old THEN the new stuff in top of the cardboard..
Exciting!! Mine are outside but I have the luxury of wheeling them back into the garage on those cold forecasted nights.
Keep the updates coming this year. 💪 Great fig videos.

How do you cover your inground figs? I was lucky since winter was mild, I only covered the base/root.

I laid it right over top. I figure it will add to the weed protection.
