It was supposed to be the mid-section of Burning My Soul...
It would be for them to play BMS in its orginal form.
DT 1991 - 2003 was something else!!! They didnt miss...
covering a masterpiece like this is one thing but you put your own flare into it too. Respect. Great work bro.
Thanks man, glad you liked it! 🙂
Wtf dude!!!! U r a master🙌🏻
Thanks man, that's very kind of you! 🙂
Exciting cover for one of may favourite song
Glad that you like it! :-)
love this tune, great cover
Thanks! 🙂
One of my favorite instrumental Dream Theater songs. I watch Mike's original video from time to time but I honestly like your cover! You're really enjoying it and the bell and double bass are spot on... Good work !
Thanks! I really appreciate that! 🙂
Well done my friend!!
I really liked the touches and the non-literality in the drum cover...
MP in 150% of its entirety as a Drummer, a true Masterpiece by DT
Thanks man, I really appreciate these kind words! 🙂 Did you also check out my other DT covers so far (Overture 1928 and Strange Deja Vu)? Glad you liked this one! 🙂
that doble bass fill at 3:07
Just stumbled on this, nice job bro! Love the embellishments, nice cymbal work
Thanks man, that's great to hear! 🙂 Did you check out my other two DT covers (Overture 1928 & Strange Deja Vu) so far? ;-)
Holy WOW! One of the BEST drum covers I have seen on UA-cam!

Amazing job. One of my favorite instrumental songs! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Love this song regular cover during drum practice
So great. I love this piece so much and you fucking nailed it! Love your passion dude
Thanks a lot! 🙂 Great, that the fun is coming across!
Awesome man, I love old DT especially this song! I was a drummer in a past life and Portnoy was who I modeled a lot of my style from. Short of you tossing and twirling the sticks during the ending buildup you nailed Mike's energy perfectly! So nice to see a drummer who doesn't look like a bored human metronome
Thanks, I really appreciate that - espeacially that me having a lot of fun playing this tune resonates with you! 🙂
Excellent !!!
Thanks! 🙂 Did you check out my other DT covers (Overture 1928 & STrange Deja Vu) so far? ;-)
Pretty good performance 🔥🔥
Thanks! 🙂
Amazing job! That's it - I'm going to practice now :D
Thanks! 🙂 Practicing is always a great choice! ;-)
I’m not Mike Portnoy but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night! Holy shit my man that was beyond amazing!!!
Thanks man, that's very kind! 🙂

this song is a masterpiece and you did it justice - nice work!
Thanks! I really appreciate that! 🙂
Awesome ! Great job keep working !
Thanks man, I will! 🙂
Amazing performance 🔥
Bro incredible!!!
Thanks man! 🙂
this song was my entry point towards taking drum seriously.
going from just a highschool kid who was just imitating the drum in songs, to wanting to understand rhythm at its basic form.
That's interesting to hear - for me it was the "Overture 1928" that sparked the seriousness!
Good job dude!
i love it. really well done.
This music is so magical, thx for this great cover +1 subscriber !
You're welcome! 🙂 Thx for this great comment + the subscription! 😉

Great job man.....
This song is fall asleep vibes.
I put this album on number 5 best of DT albums.
I think I would agree... Which would you put ahead? I think I'd go with 1. SFAM, 2. A Change Of Seasons, 3. Images And Words, 4. Awake...
this is really amazing
Thanks! 🙂
Tight on the driving ride dome!
As it shoud be...😉
Much kudos. You were on down beat, then upbeat seamless. Even on the chinas and the crash.
Do the Dance! 😜 would love to see Erotomania.

That was sublime 🌟
Thanks man! 🙂
Excelente trabajo hermano
Este disco completo es una joya totalmente olvidada de Dream Theater
Y esta canción en específico una de mis favoritas de este álbum y sin dudas una de mis favoritas para tocar en batería...
Grandeee
Thanks, man! 🙂 It is indeed quite fun to play! 🙂
@@parttimedrummer2023 Yeah I'm agree 👍
But you have a very nice technique...
Good job bro❤
Thanks! 🙂
It is a hard progressive song: many 6/8, 5/8, 7/8, but it is my favorite song which I could play from my memory. Great work! :)
Thanks! 🙂 And I do agree on this song - although there are some odd-time-signatures it really doesn't "feel" that way, it's much more intuitive that one might think!
@@parttimedrummer2023 You need to be a skilled drummer to play this flawlessly. Unfortunately, I'm just a hobby drummer, so I've never been able to play this song without errors. But it really carries you along with the odd time signatures without having to think about it :)
such a "I didn't know I needed that" song...
Nailed❤
Hi, I'm not a drummer, but I met Dream Theater through a drummer friend of mine who loves this song and it was love at first listen. Truly enveloping, sublime music. I was also at a Mangini demonstration evening years ago here in Italy. I would say that your cover shines and it’s so clear that you love performing this song. What do you think of Don't Stand So Close To Me by The Police regarding the drum part?
Thanks for the kind words! 🙂 Great that also non-drummers do like my stuff! 🙂
Concerning "Don't Stand So Close To Me": It's a great song for drums (I mean, almost every Police song is interesting in this way, thanks to Stewart Copeland), though (at least to me) not the most interesting of ther Oeuvre...
Thanks for answering me 🙂 Yes, I'm not a drummer, but I learned a little to isolate the various instruments while listening to music, and when you hear something good you can’ be indefferent.
I like it, I like the drums of Don't Stand So Close To me too much, it's simple but it has dry, fast jokes, he seems like a metronome when he plays. I also liked Mangini at the demonstration, he was very fast, at one point he looked like the drum machine from Paul Hardcastle's Nineteen. I also really like Simon Philips on Africa by Toto and I like some YES songs like Changes or Make It Easy. Really a nice channel. Thanks again!
nice work bud with your own unique vibe here and there
Thanks man! 🙂
master piece
Perfect
Thanks! 🙂
First class keep it up :D
Thanks man! 🙂 I will... ;-)
Yeah! Tremendously good job!
Unfortunately, I can only press on the "Like" button once! 🤘
Thanks, man, I really appreciate this! 🙂
by far my favorite DT instrumental, but one of my favorite tracks of all times... every instrument has its melody in place and works so well when stitched together.
home recording is never easy for drums and it sounds good... the only thing I notice is that you will go dry if you play a full gig keeping the mouth open all the time... 🤭
😄😄 You're right, I gotta keep drinking a whole lot of water during gigs - but, hey, I just can't help it...😉
Well played Sir!
Thanks so much! :-)
god i love this song....
Sehr cool, Phil! Was für ein Auftakt 💪🏻👍🏻
Danke! 🙂
Mega!!😍
Your mimic more Marco M than Mike P. Great cover!!!
Thanks! 🙂 Quite interesting you mentioning Marco - I really did like his audition for DT's drummer's spot, while I rather disliked his style on the Steven Wilson albums he played. Yet, I listened to a lot of him and so - eventually - his playing has obviusly influenced mine a bit...
@@parttimedrummer2023 Although Steve Wilson is amazing musician and remarkable producer I just listen1 or 2 songs from Porcupine Tree (I don't know why). By the way It would be great if you could be cover some tracks from Marco in The Aristocrats.
Wow! Amazing!!!
Impressive well done 👍
Thanks! :-)
That is a song that is very easy to lose yourself in I love it when that happens
Oh yeah. Been there! 🙂
Well done man, I enjoyed ❤
Thanks! Glad to hear that! 🙂
