Barbs are my least favorite and least played character in all of my diablo 2 time, but i gotta admit, they often kicked my butt in duels across the 20+ years i have been playing this is a redeemable video and makes them seem almost fun to play GG Coooley!

Great video, man. I've played off and on for 20 years and had little interest in pvp, let alone making a pvp character, but this now makes me want to make a barb eventually. After I achieve my main PvM build goals, I think I'm going to put some energy into this build in D2R. Thanks!
Should have covered left click chain locking tele-zerks, the most fun part about a BvC. Catching sorcs and necros then being accused of Gmod is one of the most satisfying things in pub duels.
I had similar one in the past, all perfect, but never used 2 20 helmer, I had permed 08 Valk instead, and I must admit he looked so badass, and killed alot in PVP but was not invincible obviously. Fun character to play it will however be impossible to recreate in D2R, as we no longer have those ultra rare 08 Valks around. I played on US WEST for 6-7 years back in the 2000s.

Back in 2006 HC ladder I had unlimited resources (clan had a mad botter) and so I built a max life barb. The life got so high that it caused a bug which reset life to half instead of max when healing, so had to reduce life. Max was around 35,000 but I think max allowed without the bug was only around 24,000. I used dedicated enchanter and BO Barb. (around lvl 60bo, lvl 60 enchant (~6500 fire damage). It had two Hand Of Justice scourges, and the rest was resist and fire damage items. Despite being all life and having zero stat points outside vitality, it mowed down anything. It was really funny when people tried to PK it....
@@brandonprice119 57 is around 60. But it doesn't matter. Due to the max life bug we have to reduce life to get more life. Otherwise you can't go about like half or 30%.
i loved playing BVC, used to run a frenzy barb called too-fast with a pair of perfect ebotdz with a few other zerkers to swap for some matchups like beastz, griefz

I think I still have my "BvA" on USEast. I say that cuz I built him to BvC, but liked wearing a shield instead. Near perf grief Zweihander for style points (same range as Z but cooler looking imo), and an Eld'd SS. People would get so triggered because I wore a shield and wasn't BvB 🤣.Was gonna suggest alt triangle, but you got it covered. Nice vid.
Completely agree with the bit about being frozen. Can’t tell you how many duels I’ve won just by being frozen because I’ve been able to land way more hits

63 setup with good res setup. Swap one hoto to cta 333 (+1 skill) gives you the extra skill and you get the battle command from the cta (1 more for orders or 1 more for any skill instead)
You probably already know Coooley, but the 451 poison charm is useless as soon as venom procs from your grief. Venom shortens all poison attack duration from items to 0.4 seconds; it doesn't frontload all the damage into the 0.4 second window, it only allows that source to inflict its normal damage for 0.4 seconds. So your 451 poison over 12 seconds becomes 15 poison damage over 0.4 seconds when venom is active. If you're just using it to eliminate player regen before your grief has procced, then that's fine. Otherwise you'd get more benefit out of another max/AR/life charm in its place.

its been years since ive played and was serious about dueling in d2. i swair i rememeber my barb was bva and i had about 11 to 12k back in day. i could just be getting old and not remember correctly but i swair i had about 11 to 12k hp with sword and shield ww barb
Great video! But a suggestion would be to replace wisp and highlord with Angelics, and gloves with cleglaws. The reason you use cleglaws is because most casters build "up to" their breakpoint. Cleglaws generally counters this and drops their BP so they cast slower. 9k AR with grief is fine against sorceress and druid but when dueling with hammerdins or TV's (Foh with smite), the extra AR is extremely useful given they have holy shield and high defence. 👍 If you ever decide to build Auradins, pvp or pvm! Let me know! Been building them for 13 years straight 😉 Great videos
Dear Cooley, allow me some polite criticism. The items you are presenting are completly unrealisic. Even with all the bots running right now on ladder, you are up for quite a grind to get enough currency for just the Eni. We are talking about 1% of the players who can put together such an equip like you are showing. A realistic PvP barb for D2R should have an Eni and 1 Grief at most. Probably just one Eni and 2 Oath. 2 HOTOS on switch are so unnecessary. Just get +3 wc spears. You should also have emphasized the importance of max leap for the stun aswell. Looking forward to seeing a realistic BvC :)
Wrong, horke behind a chaos group you will get a ton of loot. I found multiple hrs and a 40/15 jewel which i used to get this very gear besides the charm in. I found my meh dmg/ar charms horking chaos also. Or go do trav and gamble the gold you will get hrs and gamble for good items to trade away
I would really love to see some new d2r duel videos from you! You could do a whole series covering all classes to help promote the pvp scene in d2r. Some balance changes has been implemented and it would be really helpful to get a full update before building different characters.
Coooley, just a suggestion. As much as Trang ol's gear may be, I would highly suggest switching out those gloves for Dracul's Grasp; +90-120% Enhanced Defense +10-15 To Strength +5-10 Life After Each Kill 25% Chance of Open Wounds 7-10% Life Stolen Per Hit 5% Chance To Cast Level 10 Life Tap On Striking Need I say more. My legit level 96 Elder-lich Necromancer build, oddly enough, has one for special cases in reserve. And another for whenever I want to use on my other characters more melee oriented.
Yo :) decent guide but quite a few flaws if you ask me! Might be something changed since i played some years back, but hoto + cta with atleast 3 bo is better on swap and gives you +1 more bo then Dual hoto :) Also str. bugging your barb should be a good idea :)
When dueling smiter pallys when they stand in place you can actually we just outside of their range and you will be able To hit them but they can’t hit you. And if or when they chase you to hit you just ww away making them chase you that kills them very quickly.
Firstly the barb isnt over 9000 life, i personally had a barb with 8300 hp bvc without the spirit.When we played PvP ,absorb items, and active uses of items were prohibited .So my barb with the spirit would have been over 10k life .Anyway even that i was proffesional PvP player with BvC,Hybrid Assassin and orber i leearned something new -the throw skill lockup and the secret breakpoint otherwise i remember everything else like it was yesterday.Most of the guys which were playing vs these barbs was pretty bad to kill them that easily even without using leap-stun .

Qick question. As player who started a pluggy around 2019 and it's played all three ladders of project Diablo a lot. I plan on doing barbarian in resurrected as the pit/pindle zerker. I play with two other people as a team and we are very familiar with the game. The question is as somebody who's has been playing project D2 will barb feel to clunky and be unplayable for me to start out or will my skills and team mates make it ok as a starter. Thanks
yes summons cast from charges will disppaear IF its on your switch weapon and if you switch back to your main setup... they will unsummon. Thats why you use wisp ring on a barb to allow him to fight with oak or heart of wolverine while still being in attack mode
@@borisdimitrov6674 you don't have that much space in stash so berzerker axe takes up less space as well. Rolling a 39%ias on a colusus blade to hit the last ww breakpoint is expensive as well..

Note: Shadow Warrior at lvl 39 got 456 strenght....at lvl lvl 59 it has 708 strenght(if you super pre-buff her you will pretty much nearly double her dmg when she use Dragon talon :)....at lvl 42 her item level is maxed(99)..health difference between 39-59.....2519 - 3647....other stats dont matter so not listed :D......well almost...if she use Fade while you got prebuff gear rising Fade to 50-59 she get a full 50% dmg reduction...making her pretty hard to kill muahaha :D
Cleglaws Gloves gives slow and knockback. Really helps against smiters, especially if they have a phase blade. Zerker axes have a range 3, phase blade is range 2. If you're knocking them back, they constantly have to walk into your melee range before they can attack. You get the first hit. Some say slow is bm but that's usually the butthurt guy.
Last I heard it was only bm vs zons because of the dodge frames. VS anyone else it was fair game. Hell arach has slow on it and that's commonly used. Never once heard knockback was bm.
I made a bvc in d2r, and he has a crappy bug that i hope gets fixed, i went pure vita using enigma, ect. my griefZ will not under any circumstance go to my main hand. i can drag and drop, add charms, w.e it just wont go to my main hand. Its only my grief. for example, if i run a ebotdz and edeathz and swap hands, the numbers in charater screen swap hands. grief+any of my weapons it will always put grief in my off hand..so frustrating. so for now im just stashing my griefz..which sucks cus it rolled 396...such a waste. I heard a temp fix is to strip 100% naked, no charms or anything on at all and hard point all your gear, It might work, dont care if it does because losing all that hp to hard points kind of defeats this whole purpose.
What are your thoughts on FHR on BVC? I see augments for hitting 48% but some people go 0. I know ww is uninterruptable and barb has high health so is less likely to be fhr proc'd but wanted to get your take on this.
Have we heard of they are following through with the 2.4 runewords moving to non-ladder at the start of 2.5 ladder? If so, this is defiantly an opportunity for content. Personally, I have 6 sets of plague runes and superior claws with 3 os, 3light sentry and 10 enhanced damage. I also have a pair of claws for pvp with 3 os, 2 light sentry and 2 mind blast. Who want to stream making 5 LS claws?

back in 2006 my barb use ith sword 160-60 100 life armor and full 3/20/20s scs hahaha

for ur bo boost you should get 3+ wc daggers… saves a lot of space for more items in stash vs different characters
just saying when i was dueling, some of that gear was considered BM.. inferno strides, and wisp ring. all in all good coverage. #thumbsup

Great video! But a suggestion would be to replace wisp and highlord with Angelics, and gloves with cleglaws. The reason you use cleglaws is because most casters build "up to" their breakpoint. Cleglaws generally counters this and drops their BP so they cast slower. 9k AR with grief is fine against sorceress and druid but when dueling with hammerdins or TV's (Foh with smite), the extra AR is extremely useful given they have holy shield and high defence. 👍

Dear Cooley, allow me some polite criticism. The items you are presenting are completly unrealisic. Even with all the bots running right now on ladder, you are up for quite a grind to get enough currency for just the Eni. We are talking about 1% of the players who can put together such an equip like you are showing. A realistic PvP barb for D2R should have an Eni and 1 Grief at most. Probably just one Eni and 2 Oath. 2 HOTOS on switch are so unnecessary. Just get +3 wc spears. You should also have emphasized the importance of max leap for the stun aswell. Looking forward to seeing a realistic BvC :)

Wrong, horke behind a chaos group you will get a ton of loot. I found multiple hrs and a 40/15 jewel which i used to get this very gear besides the charm in. I found my meh dmg/ar charms horking chaos also. Or go do trav and gamble the gold you will get hrs and gamble for good items to trade away

Firstly the barb isnt over 9000 life, i personally had a barb with 8300 hp bvc without the spirit.When we played PvP ,absorb items, and active uses of items were prohibited .So my barb with the spirit would have been over 10k life .Anyway even that i was proffesional PvP player with BvC,Hybrid Assassin and orber i leearned something new -the throw skill lockup and the secret breakpoint otherwise i remember everything else like it was yesterday.Most of the guys which were playing vs these barbs was pretty bad to kill them that easily even without using leap-stun .

Qick question. As player who started a pluggy around 2019 and it's played all three ladders of project Diablo a lot. I plan on doing barbarian in resurrected as the pit/pindle zerker. I play with two other people as a team and we are very familiar with the game. The question is as somebody who's has been playing project D2 will barb feel to clunky and be unplayable for me to start out or will my skills and team mates make it ok as a starter. Thanks

yes summons cast from charges will disppaear IF its on your switch weapon and if you switch back to your main setup... they will unsummon. Thats why you use wisp ring on a barb to allow him to fight with oak or heart of wolverine while still being in attack mode

Phase Blade with 5X + 30% cold resist jewels + either Ber or Um(Open wound 20% or upping CB from 45% to 65%)...i would suggest OW since sorc love running away(Um rune) so they bleed nicely if trigger
Note: Shadow Warrior at lvl 39 got 456 strenght....at lvl lvl 59 it has 708 strenght(if you super pre-buff her you will pretty much nearly double her dmg when she use Dragon talon :)....at lvl 42 her item level is maxed(99)..health difference between 39-59.....2519 - 3647....other stats dont matter so not listed :D......well almost...if she use Fade while you got prebuff gear rising Fade to 50-59 she get a full 50% dmg reduction...making her pretty hard to kill muahaha :D
Cleglaws Gloves gives slow and knockback. Really helps against smiters, especially if they have a phase blade.
Zerker axes have a range 3, phase blade is range 2. If you're knocking them back, they constantly have to walk into your melee range before they can attack. You get the first hit. Some say slow is bm but that's usually the butthurt guy.

Slow and knockback are usually frowned on in duels. Or at least they were back when I still played.
Last I heard it was only bm vs zons because of the dodge frames. VS anyone else it was fair game. Hell arach has slow on it and that's commonly used.
Never once heard knockback was bm.

I made a bvc in d2r, and he has a crappy bug that i hope gets fixed, i went pure vita using enigma, ect. my griefZ will not under any circumstance go to my main hand. i can drag and drop, add charms, w.e it just wont go to my main hand. Its only my grief. for example, if i run a ebotdz and edeathz and swap hands, the numbers in charater screen swap hands. grief+any of my weapons it will always put grief in my off hand..so frustrating. so for now im just stashing my griefz..which sucks cus it rolled 396...such a waste. I heard a temp fix is to strip 100% naked, no charms or anything on at all and hard point all your gear, It might work, dont care if it does because losing all that hp to hard points kind of defeats this whole purpose.
heart of the wolverine is what ill usually use on the wisp ring when used on bvc. More dam and attack rate. Such an under used summon.

What are your thoughts on FHR on BVC? I see augments for hitting 48% but some people go 0. I know ww is uninterruptable and barb has high health so is less likely to be fhr proc'd but wanted to get your take on this.

Have we heard of they are following through with the 2.4 runewords moving to non-ladder at the start of 2.5 ladder? If so, this is defiantly an opportunity for content. Personally, I have 6 sets of plague runes and superior claws with 3 os, 3light sentry and 10 enhanced damage. I also have a pair of claws for pvp with 3 os, 2 light sentry and 2 mind blast. Who want to stream making 5 LS claws?

Yes! For WW. But being frozen on a sin is a bit different because you need that trap laying speed always.
I prefer a BVA build. Makes dueling zons barbs and other melee chars much better.
