I saw an article online saying the violinist was actually Roman Totenberg, who recorded the Glazunov under this pseudonym because of complications of his then record contract.
This is playing of the very highest technical order, and a beautifully lyrical interpretation. Who was he...? Yes - it is David Oistrakh, and the same recording as Daniel Kurganov posted on his channel: ua-cam.com/video/nDOXXJkXpDs/v-deo.html&ab_channel=DanielKurganov%2CViolinist
@@rolandubl7204I tried to find Zernick on youTube to observe his vibrato and other details but I couldn't find anything. The violinist playing this Glazunov is a world class player and he must have made many recordings.
Marvelous recording of this work. The "ghost" Hans Girdach sounds like Oistrakh in his prime. Thanks for sharing!
