I personally don't need the perfect passthrough, but I think it should have eye and face tracking, because that otherwise leaves only the discontinued (and expensive) Vive Pro Eye and expensive Quest Pro. I have the OG Vive and I am happy with the passthrough, it is enough to grab something from the table or open/close the window. So anything not worse is fine by me.

    1. Since your focus is social VR, do you plan on having a face tracking add-on? If not, do you plan on allowing for an easy mounting point for the Vive facial tracker?
    2. Does the Eye tracking support floating point states for blinking, or is it binary open/close? What about pupil dilation? Having floating point for blinking would be great

Exciting looking hardware! Two major concerns though are audio and vision correction. Hoping a mod comes along that allows me to take the speakers off my Valve Index to be used with this headset. I don't want to use earbuds and I sure as hell don't want to have to use a separate set of headphones. Good quality audio is essential for VR immersion! As for vision correction, there was no mention at all on how comfortable it is for people that wear glasses, or if it will offer some sort of minor vision correction adjustment like is rumored to potentially be a feature with Deckard (if we ever see it). Aside from those two areas, this headset looks very good and will definitely be on my short list.

I've been using the pimax for 5 years now. The software isn't perfect but when u get it working, you don't have to mess with it again. It has the same set up labor as base stations. Ya sure it's a pain to get them mounted and synced but once you do, I haven't tinkered with them since and they've been working flawlessly for 5 years as well. I think tge reason why companies don't try to push wider fov is because it introduces so many issues in vr. Early object culling, increase gpu demand, costum lenses that are almost twice the size of the standard and power hungry usb bandwidth.

It's fantastic to see innovation like this in the VR sector. The headset looks incredible and with those superb features and modularity/flexibility, I wish Artur and Somnium Space every success.
I do have a question...I wonder what Artur's thoughts are on foveated rendering? - does he think that something like Nvidia's driver-level-only VRSS 2 is the way forward, or does he think the game code itself (game loop and game engine) should, ideally, also offer an optimised foveated render pathway in order to fully unlock this technology? For interest, can he share an indication of, for each 'typical' game frame (real...not DLSS3), what percentage comes from the game code + game engine, and what percentage comes from the GPU? If a significant time of each frame generation is spent outside the GPU (i.e. in the game code) then perhaps it is the game engine that should be controlling (primarily contributing to) the foveated rendering process/pathway?

My left Brain is chiming in saying:
'if the lens was matched that precisely to the screen and the HMD Geometry, then it would be much harder to change IPD without everything going out of that precise screen to lens graded matched alignment. They would need to make a different headset for every IPD.

The actual shape of the lens allows the refractive index to be changed over the width of the lens... So in my mind one could correct for the geometry inside an hmd and get it perfect so that there's 90° angles and no distortion at the edges all you have to do is match the lens to the final layout. That's what my right Brain thinks .... My left Brain is chiming in right now and saying: 'if the lens was matched that precisely to the screen and the HMD Geometry, then it would be much harder to change ipd, without everything going out with that precise alignment. They would need to make a different headset for every ipd. Crap. (Quiet! annoying overly-analytical left brain! 😆). 1) How will the headset connect to a PC wirelessly without standalone capabilities?
    2) The anchor point idea is cool, but how will this be more modular than other headsets in practice? The face gasket, headstrap, audio, even controllers I believe if you are using steamVR are de facto modular even on intended to be proprietary headsets like the Quest 2. Maybe I'm missing something but it seems like the only major difference here in terms of modularity is intention.
    3) Why the need for so much room for active cooling if it is just for PCVR streaming? Also just how much longer does this make the headset? Biggest actual turnoff is that it looks fresnel lens size despite having pancakes.

Will I be able to remote stream my PC like I can on Virtual Desktop? Can people use Cloud PC streaming? It's presents worthwhile questions as all the existing wireless PCVR headsets I've used have full standalone function, I'm not questioning that it's possible to have a dedicated wireless PCVR headset but just wondering how the experience would work. And for the cooling, I feel that my Reverb G2 never ran hot and I'm just wondering exactly how hot something can get from non-standalone processing (decoding and encoding signals, etc), though ya I know Reverb G2 doesn't even have to do these calculations since it comes over the wire uncompressed.

Secondly, all the high-end VR headsets which target the VR enthusiast ( _not mainstream consumers_ ) rely on base stations including the Pimax that you mentioned, as well as *Varjo Aero & BigScreen Beyond* . In fact, Even the *Pimax Crystal* which operates using inside-out tracking is getting base station support since they know it is far superior to inside-out tracking.
