- Parvathy Baul is a singer, painter and storyteller from West Bengal. After receiving her initial music and dance training during her childhood, she studied visual arts at the Kala Bhavan at Shantiniketan, the university founded by Rabindranath Tagore.
Her meeting with the living tradition of Baul prompted her to choose the path of self-training in the Baul order rather than an institutional degree.
Since 1995 she has performed in her home state Bengal and all over India. She was also invited to participate in several international festivals including Festival de l’imaginaire (Paris), Festival international du Conte et du Monodrame (Beirut, Libanon), and Ethnomad (Geneva, Switzerland).
Her guest appearances include prestigeous venues like the Noh Theatre at Kyoto (Japan) together with Kamigata-mai and Kyogen Performers, the World Music Center New York, Chicago University, and Bread and Puppet Theatre (Vermont).
She has contributed Baul songs, woodcut prints, and a documentary video to the new South Asian department, Tropenmuseum Amsterdam, (The Netherlands),
She is more than a "singer" - she is a BAUL - a carrier of oral traditions in the spiritual realm. The literal translation of the word BAUL - is MAD - drenched in Love for the Lord till madness.. Many Pranams to her for not only carrying forward a rich tradition but also keeping it alive and spreading it..
I'm in love with both of them... but when he simply sat there, looking into her eyes, in total silence yet letting his entire soul be with hers, man....... I can't explain how beautiful that moment was... @23:39 I could have watched both of them just sit and stare at each other for hours! Hats off to this gentleman who is so loving, gentle, full of wisdom himself and humbleness!! So rare to get such a interviewer nowadays!

In the beginning paying respects to her Guru she asks for chamutkaar then with Karuna she blows it out of the water!! The power of surrendering to her Guru! Under the tutelage of Gurus from a very young age her childlike innocence is well preserved. Very Pure

Probabil că există mai multe tipuri de Ektara, deoarece instrumentul cu care cântă Saieen Zahoor ( interpret de muzică sufi din Pakistan), deşi are tot o coardă, are o altă formă.

There isn't any rudra veena in the background! It is only the sound of ektara ( that one-stringed musical instrument she is playing at), and the rhythm maintained by the drum that she is carrying on the left side, as well. Through the silence which is within her and the power of concentration, she simultaneously plays on two instruments, dances, and performs vocally at the same time.
This is mastery! She is a spiritual master.
