What a nice tour, I love how she had little notes on details and growth habbits. Seeing this really helps me get an idea what plants could be for me and how to adjust my plants slightly. I also like the long video’s, please keep them coming :) And I also wonder about her pot sizes, what is appropriate for nepenthes, how do you know when to repot, what size do you go to? New things for my wishlist for sure, but she does get a good nighttime drop!
I am also in SF so this interview was really helpful and pertinent for me, and so inspiring! I haven't been to a BACPS meeting in over a decade but still get their newsletters and I really hope to attend the next show.
Very true what she said about patience. Have been waiting for what feels like months now for my N. spectabilis x veitchii to acclimate and pitcher for me.
@@WindowsillNepenthes I've been using Mantises in my marijuana grow tents for years now, they eat a number of bad pests so they are beneficial to have in your plant environment. Only thing I'm not sure on is if it stays on her plants at all times or does it move around the apartment.
By the way if you are looking for this N. Dyeriana, it's an complex hybrid: [ (northiana x maxima) x (rafflesiana x veitchii) ] and doing the math, it's an intermediate but in the Lowland side: 25 - 33°C (Day) / 15 - 23°C (Night). So if your windowsill goes bellow this 15°C, take care! I would recommend not going lower than 18°C. (So for me, this species is impossible...)
Can I ask a question? Are Nepenthes Maxima leaves thick or thin? Also I can grow Nepenthes Dyeriana because I live just about 1 meter above sea level.I love your videos and your channel,I learned so much from you thanks!
If you’re looking for a N. ventricosa and lowii hybrid, Braeheid Gardens (located in Alberta, they ship Canada-wide) apparently has some listed under the houseplants section of their website.
@@WindowsillNepenthes not bothered by the mantis. Was thinking more of it falling in. Much like if you have a pond in your garden, someone will fall in it at some point.

Glad it was helpful!
Gianne is really a nice person to talk about carnivorous plants as you can feel the love she has for them.
I live across the bay, so this was very helpful. I’m shocked at how warm her home gets. San Francisco is famous for being chilly.

If you see Gianne tell her hello from me! :)
Very nice! I am new to Nepenthes , but is absolutely love the ! Love your vids! Thanks again !
She has some beautiful plants..
Lovely to hear how people's plants have helped them cope in hard times. I know what that is like. Thanks, Gianne. Love and peace Adam x
Beautiful plants, I never heard of them! Her window looks amazing, full of plants 💓
Yes, her windowsill is impressive :)
Congratulations on 300 subscribers my friend!
i like looking at people's indoor set ups because i need ideas haha
Me too! And each time I learn something 😃

And now it's doing good?
@@WindowsillNepenthes it’s put out several leaves, so I think it may pitcher soon.
These uncut interviews are the best ... never edit them
I know but not everyone watch long video.
But I'm only cutting what it's useful ;)
@@WindowsillNepenthes I meant keep those bloopers
Such a wonderful video thanks for sharing with us the love of the hobby.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Mantids and Nepenthes! My faves!
I confess I have been researching about mantis since this interview...

I'll definitely check!
Thanks
I got surprised when she showed the lady luck with light damage, mine It´s literally almost touching a light bulb and growing well
@Gianne is the Dyeriana also known as a Mojito?
N. Dyeriana is the Victorian hybrid and the same cross was remade and named N. Mojito I believe ;)
@@WindowsillNepenthes but Gianne's was better than mine! Patience
❤️❤️❤️
Hey, can you please do a video on “Beginner Species” and where you can get them aswell as their recommended hardiness zone?
Good idea, I'll do a beginner species video.
For "where to get them", it depends on the country you live in, but I'll do my best.
@@WindowsillNepenthes Thanks
Interestingly my big dyeriana also alternates left and right leaves. (not vining yet)
Not vining yet and still having the pattern? Interesting...
How big it is?
@@WindowsillNepenthes quite big actually, 30cm leaves. Although I also have a smaller Dyeriana which has normal leaf pattern
@@jonasc2168 So I guess get ready for the vining ;)
What if the mantis gets too close?
Too close from you or the nepenthes?
Because the mantis like the nectar but won't fall into the pitcher from my understanding :)
