Yeah it's dumb, but there really isn't any reason he can't post it. It would probably be demonetized, but that's hardly the end of the world, and hardly an excuse to not post. Just makes it seem more like a plug for the subscription while blaming YT like they're the ones forcing him to promote his streaming service. Don't get me wrong, I love the dude and his work (and I hate YT), just own up to it and say that the shooting is on the subscription as exclusive content instead of trying to hide it under the guise of "censorship" as if "The Man" won't let you post.
@gerry343 That's true, but channels like brandon herrera and small arms solutions post full auto content with no issue. Seeing as those videos don't get taken down full auto isn't banned so there should be no issue showing it.
Thanks Ian for the video. During the Winter and Continuation War, the Finns received the weapon as war booty in such large quantities (about 9,000 pcs.) that it replaced the Lahti-Saloranta M/26 rapid-fire rifle in front-line use due to its operational reliability. The weapon remained in use by the Defense Forces until the 1990s. Degtjarjova pehotnyi assault rifles are on display, for example, in the War Museum, where the assault rifle used by President Mauno Koivisto in the Continuation War is also on display. The gun had been hidden for a long time in Törn-Männistö's gun cache, where it was found in 1992 through a report by Arvo Männistö. Emma designation In Finland, the gun was named Emma because of the association created by the 1930s "Emma" hit and the drum cap that resembles a record. You can see that the cover of the drum magazine rotates when firing.
That spring assembly reminds me of the AR's buffer tube. I could see a proper pistol grip and straight stock cludged on to that thing as a fun fantasy weapon.
Honestly, the DP27 is a really neat looking MG. The massive dinner plate magazine on the top just makes it stand out compared to other MGs used at the time.
The rotary magazine makes it stand out, but what really endeared me to the DP-27/DPM was how brutally simple it was under the hood and the distinctive flapper-lock mechanism.
I feel like the hopper feed experiment went nowhere because you need mechanically well designed clips for it and the Mosin clip is distinctly not that.
I have a question about pan magazines: Does the rotation of the magazine affects recoil? Does it adds lateral movement due to the fact the whole thing is rotating after each shot?
Its a fairly long action with large mass parts, running at a very controllable cyclic rate. You really shouldn't expect the magazine to do much in terms of affecting recoil impulse, if at all.
The movie Midway is available to watch for free on UA-cam. The movie, which is based on historical events, features scenes of bombing and torpedoing various ships, aerial dog fights, anti-aircraft gunning, and in one scene, captured US Servicemen tossed overboard and drowned. And yes, many, many machine guns are fired, and mass loss of life depicted. There are ZERO restrictions on its viewing, and it’s but one movie involving guns firing and violence. UA-cam, do you know just how ridiculous you are being, not letting a video detailing the history and function of a firearm is, when you have a movies about war, crime, and violence toward other humans on your platform?
@@csolivais1979Is that why Garand Thumb's intros have been increasingly getting more theatrical? 🤔 The one he did for the OG 1911 was pretty damn incredible.
Is it possible to put the shooting in a separate video and accept that it will be demonetized? Guns need to stay on UA-cam where people who don’t specifically seek them out still come across them. I understand if it would get you a channel strike or something, but if it’s just demonetization, please consider taking the hit.

@@ForgottenWeapons, if I recall the RP 46 was just an attachment that attached to a DP 28 like the standard magazines. Perhaps if they could have used the DP 28 in both magazine fed and belt fed conversions that would have had some added benefit for certain situations.
hahaha. I'm originally from NJ. To make it NJ compliant, you'd need to use a wooden version similar to the one Michael Keaton handed Will Ferrel in "The other guys"
Talk to a NJ lawyer, but as far as I can tell, you could legally have a semiauto DP27 if it was the DP27 and not DPM (no pistol grip) and you welded on the booster - on the semiauto guns the muzzle cone is closed up to act as a booster and doesn't function as a flash hider. For magazines, if you put on an RP-46 belt-feed adapted you could run 10-round belt segments legally. How's that for an unintended consequence? Belt feed is okay but magazines aren't? :)

Just out of curiosity, how is it a scam? Big gamble, yes, because the odds of winning are relatively small. However my understanding is that Ian has really given away every gun he's done a giveaway on. A scam would be saying that they'd give the gun away if enough people bought the collectibles, then claiming the goal wasn't reached and keeping the guns. I don't think that's what Ian does, he seems to be a pretty stand up guy.
No, they are not. I totally understand if you don't want to participate, but I send the guns to the winners directly (well, to their FFLs) myself each month.
This content costs money to make. There aren't alot of adds on his videos, and he doesn't promote a bunch of questionable gun schools or junk peddlers in mid video. I think a raffle is a perfect idea, it's completely voluntary and keeps the channel running for us to enjoy.

There is more to is than that, but you don't see it in this video.
People who think this have no business working on guns... You probably think you can make an SKS full auto by filing the firing pin
Ah yes, machine guns with breakfast. Very good.

At least you can eat off both of them. No upgrades needed
The real question was if Big Bad Joseph would let you eat, if you didn't meet your monthly quota of inflicted German casualties...

Is there any reason why pan magazines fell out of favour, wht are the drawbacks that youd give up that high capacity?
They are really clumsy to carry. Basically everyone went to belts instead by the late 40s or early 50s.
They started using belt fed.
If the Soviets had the RP 46 belt fed variant in 1941 they would have had a serious competitor with the MG 34 and MG 42 a year later.
On paper...in practice the 34 and 42 are both much better guns than the RP46.
