Incredible sounds from that guitar. I always loved the primal, almost prehistoric sound of this great testosterone fueled male chest-beating anthem. No other act sounded like this, or could give us such incredible anthems like this. Rock And Roll Part Two is a great sports theme in the same great primal rock style...
Great sounds from the 70's from the hugely talented Glitter Band. Mike Leander's use of two drummers gave the band a trademark powerhouse sound. Sadly, Gerry & Harvey are no longer with us.
Such sn amazing Bsnd. I remember buyjng Gerry a drink of orsnge juice before a Glitter Bsnd gig ( yes, Gerry was stsnding by the bar) and we had a nice chat. He was so down to eatth and not full of himself. Such a nice Gentleman. I would love to see the Glitter Band release another Glam Rock Gem similar to Angel Face.
Gerry ,Pete, John, What a great band, still remember your gig at the Marquee when, Heartbeat to Heartache came out, i can recall it was very loud, The Glitter Band, still the best rock band ever...
Wow.. this takes me back. how cool to see Gerry really go for it, such a great vocals and guitar performance. he could easily have been "phoning it in " at this stage but not a bit of it. He was my childhood hero and my first attempt at a Star Guitar was a bloody nightmare to play but it sure looked good!
Known Pete a few years now, been in a film with him, met John when they did a Gig at the Concorde Club, Eastleigh, some great stories, everyone enjoyed it

@@donnacoles3673 Good to hear Donna Gerry Sheppard was my hero around age 10/11 He sidetracked me onto Bad Company, Led Zeppelin & Mott The Hoople by simple virtue of his guitar playing & that characteristic 'drone' sound (All strings tuned to 'A') used as 'signature sound' of the band AND his great guitar-riffs, not to mention his brilliant songwriting AND great vocals & vocal delivery. Yeah and it is a good bass note and well played. I admit we do get the G and D machine heads of Mr Springate's fender precision guitar.Hey, I am a real fan of the Glitter men. Been to 4 concerts in their heyday with G.G.I still have the HEY album.
I was there, right behind the person filming to whom Gerry refers in the opening. It was at the Cricketers, Oval, in 1984/5 or hereabouts I think I remember (!)
@@1idlehoffner It was July 1989 I was there as well and it was me who Got the Gig at The Cricketers for the Band. I have known all Glitter Band Members since 1987. If it was 1984 John Springate would have been playing bass and on rhythm Guitar is the Late Roger Saunders who joined the Band in June 1988.
All the comments about Paul Gadd disgracing the Glitter Band and that the true sound of the band is Gerry Sheppard's guitar mustn't realise that the only people who played on any of Gary's hits were Mike Leander and the brass section - as Rossall said to me when I interviewed him, if Leander could've played the sax then even he and Harvey wouldn't have got on the records. The sound of the Gary Glitter records was the sound of Mike Leander. The Glitter Band sound is just them playing his sound for the first few hits before they changed direction musically - Goodbye My Love etc. No disrespect to the Glitter Band intended here incidentally - their first two albums are glam essentials.
Yes, so the story goes. The thing is...that powerhouse backing band called The Glitterband backed Gary Glitter live! What a job they did of it too. I saw GG in 1974 at Festival Hall Melb, Australia. I came away a dedicated Glitterband fan. So underrated. Two brilliant drummers Tony and Pete. Harvey and John with that big brass sound, John on bass and Gerry on that awesome droning guitar. I knew they would step out of GGs shadow because without them live he was in my opinion nothing. I loved them then, love them now and always will. I do wish the people would argue the injustice of them not having their music played and not being acknowledged for their contribution to one of the greatest era's of music. The Glitterband should be there with Marc Bolan, The Sweet and all the others from that era. There was Glam Rock and only 1 Glitter Rock. Rant over.
Gary, very closely followed by the the Glitter band, when GGs first single charted he needed a backing band for top of the pops so mike leander recruited the glitter band for the show, rest his history as they say.
@@DaveInBridport Gary Glitter was the “star” and his tour band was named The Glitter Band. The lead singer in the Glitter Band was Gerry Shephard. There’s no Barry connected.
What a guitarist ❤ RIP Gerry
That sounds very near to the original studio recording 😮❤

Gerry was and always will be THE GLITTER MAN.
Top man was Gerry, one of the nicest blokes I had the privilege of meeting and working with: sadly missed.
The guitar sounds so badass 😎
