Long time no see! I remember you mentioned Brewing this in a comment. As I said previously one of my favourite beer styles. And it sounds like you have done it all the justice it deserves. Made up for you Graham 👍🏻🍻
Glad it turned out well, it sounds lush! The late dark malt addition is intriguing! It would be interesting to do two comparison brews, one late addition and one at the start of the mash - see the difference it makes.
That looks and sounds great Graham, nice job mate. There's a chap called Tony (Yorkshirehomebrew) who's been doing some interesting experiments with bottling directly from his taps and testing them every couple of weeks and months , might be worth a look if you're only bottling a few. Cheers 👍
Just brewed exactly this beer but with dark brown sugar. Hoping the extra molasses doesn't throww off the flavor profile. 😄 this will be my comparison beer between a chocolate coffee stout I mashed with dark grains for full mash. Looking forward to the results
Love the title 'Grain to Belly' 😂 This is advanced brewing right here. I remember when all you used to drink was wheat beers, that looks bloody lush. I need to brew more dark beers. Love them.
I see a happy G-man drinking that beer!😊 Well done mate. The simple counter pressure filler that Dr H uses works like a charm, I've used it quite a lot and it's 👍🏻. Cheers
Hi Graham, fantastic recipe I'm going to give that a go in the near future! i have a Speidels BM so I'm sure it will be interesting! i took your advise and joined 'brewtube'
Mike Hixson I just chuck them straight in. Once cold crashed everything drops below the level of the tap. I rarely use a siphon but can’t foresee any issues👍
OMG Ithat sounds amazing I have everything in to brew that , was searching for a video to help me with using cocoa nibs for the first time but it looks like I got a proper bonus my friend cheers, Have a brew planned for later on in the week but that is definitely my next brew after that cheers 👍🍻
Trust you to blame us lot for your bloody mistake! lol! It turned out well though judging by your personal review. Nice one mate, and thanks for the cool accompanying music!
Top work there handsome. A great G2G. Seems like it'll get better with age, that's if you can leave it that long. Will have to give this a go. Cheers 🍻
Hi I’m brewing this got the grains weighed out ,this week maybe although half term has caught me out again. Would you add more caramel/Demerara sugar next time or keep it at 500 g ? Looks and sounds lovely cheers 👍
Great grain to glass. I missed if you said what the alcohol strength was? By your reaction this seems one to brew for sure, thanks mate really enjoyable to watch..
@@HaplessGingerBrew thank you! its in the fermentor now. cant wait!!! ive watched this episode a dozen times atleast for notes. im after that reaction you had.
just put this brew into fermentation fridge, really looking forward to tasting. thanks for sharing the recipe. A question tho, are you pushing the lines with CO2 or Nitro? curious as the the difference it would make.
Sounds awesome Graham! I agree, I like low carb on my stouts! I bottle off kegs into pet bottles with a carbonation cap, much easier than a beer gun. Dr. H's method looks fine too. What dark grains did you use? Cheers
That looks like a sexy beer, the caramel made my mouth water, and the nibs finished me off. Sounds amazing, long gone are the days of wheat beers only eh. Nice one mate. :-)
Adam at Baldy's Homebrew I was just thinking I need to brew a normal hefeweizen but decided to go with Strawberry cream Wheat instead. I'll try to get some bottled and get one of the Stouts to you.
Great video, looked amazing. Quick question in your fermentables list you've got 250g of chocolate added at the beginning of mash out. I was just wondering what chocolate that was. Sorry still fairly new to home brewing only done a couple IPA's so far. I'd like to do a nice chocolate stout.
@@HaplessGingerBrew thanks man I did check the description, it said 250g chocolate and 200g of German chocolate wheat. I was unsure what chocolate you used whether it was another type of chocolate malt, or a chocolate powder. I found where to buy the chocolate wheat. Thank you for your speedy response.👍 But no I don't use a brewing software. Only just got into all grain, at the moment I'm just filling my details into printed sheets from brewers friend.
Jack Forsey Oh right well best I try and sort that then. I'm not great at bottling from the keg but I'm going to give it another bash. PM me your address👍
Well Fook my old boots! Best exclamation I've ever heard! How much vodka did you use in your cacao nib tincture dude? Keep up the good work you absolute legend
Andrew Slater it cuts down on the astringency and bitterness from the dark malts so you don’t get that bitter coffee flavor and the chocolate can shine through. Great video Graham!! In my que to brew!
My god , one pint ten gigger watts ... ? And head retention, DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS ' Yes a bloody good beer Sir. Just in time for Christmas..cheers Hic*
This recipe is one of my favorites - brewed it 4 times already and it always turned out nicely. Thanks for sharing
Love your humour. Been cracking up watching this. Wanting to brew one of these for ages. Looks like a cracking pint!
AllianceOfCalgon Thanks buddy and yes it's not a bad beer at all👍
Thank you so much for sharing with us. I can’t wait to try and make it!! After I convert the units to English of course. ‘Merica LOL. Cheers!!

Absolutely brilliant G2G! Loved the brew footage and the finished beer sounds delicious. I can almost taste it from here. Top job. Cheers mate
TubeDinoz I'd love to get one to you but I fear the carbonation wouldn't last knowing my success at bottling from the keg.😢
All good! One day I might come over to the UK and I'll try a beer then. Cheers!
Long time no see! I remember you mentioned Brewing this in a comment. As I said previously one of my favourite beer styles. And it sounds like you have done it all the justice it deserves. Made up for you Graham 👍🏻🍻
3sAcrowd Brewing Well I guess I’m biased but I do love it. Sadly it’s about to kick😢 Cheers mate and hope your doing well👍
That looked and sounded delicious mate. Great G2G
Probably the best beer I've brewed. I did a V2 but it was crap so back to the original and will be brewing it again soon.

Great brewday and sounds like a hell of a beer! Cheers!
Tony Yates Thanks so much Tony👍🍻
I'm brewing this up this weekend!!
Good plan mate. I need to brew it again soon👍
Glad it turned out well, it sounds lush! The late dark malt addition is intriguing! It would be interesting to do two comparison brews, one late addition and one at the start of the mash - see the difference it makes.
Peter Hodge It would be interesting but I'm sure it would add more bitterness.
Great vid by the way.
Sounds stunning well done mate
The Crows Foot brewery Not the worst I've made.... that one will be the hop sniffer😳 cheers mate
Hapless Ginger Brew I tried my SMASH from the Strat brew far from my best also

Good choice :)

How did you add the cocoa nibs? Just toss them in with the vodka or into a muslin bag? Any issues with clogging the siphon?
Mike Hixson I just chuck them straight in. Once cold crashed everything drops below the level of the tap. I rarely use a siphon but can’t foresee any issues👍
@@HaplessGingerBrew Thank you sir! Looking forward to brewing this recipe this weekend!
Hapless Ginger Brew with the vodka?
As they say - once you go black you never go back. I think your face said it all - a winner! Nice one.
Abbey Homebrew They also say once you've had ginger there's no going black😂😂👍

Bernelind Basement Brewery Thanks so much my friend👍
Just ordered the ingredients to do a version of this! Cheers 🍻
THAT is a dessert! Looks and sounds like a great success mate :) congrats. PS: I'd also leave the carbonation level right where it is.
JabeerIni Home Brewer Thanks mate I'm right with you on the carbonation👍🍺

Mangoes & Brews Thanks Steve very true 🍺👍
Just seen this sorry i'm late. This sounds worth a try. When you put the cacao nibs in do you pour the vodka in as well?

Oops sorry mate, just read the recipe, my bad..
Terry Glass Thanks so much mate I'm very happy with it 👍🍻
after the cocoa nibs on day 5-7, how long did the sit before kegging?
Kevin Koch Again 5-7 days then couple of days cold crashing
@@HaplessGingerBrew thank you! its in the fermentor now. cant wait!!! ive watched this episode a dozen times atleast for notes. im after that reaction you had.
Sounds Amazing mate. I want to do something similar at some point, just need the bloody time to brew.
+Beer O'Clock Brewing I’m the same buddy, finding time to brew is not easy
good video
marty stamplecoskie Thanks very much
just put this brew into fermentation fridge, really looking forward to tasting. thanks for sharing the recipe.
A question tho, are you pushing the lines with CO2 or Nitro? curious as the the difference it would make.
dem0n114 Just co2 on my setup buddy. I’m not a lover of creamy beers TBH. If that’s your thing I’m sure it would be lovely
Another great video! How long all in all did you have it in the keg before you were happy with the carb / taste? Thanks
Sorry for the late reply - It was 2 weeks to the keg and good after only a week on gas
Could you please add strike water and sparge water amounts. I'm thinking 18L strike. 8L sparge 🤔
Sounds awesome Graham! I agree, I like low carb on my stouts! I bottle off kegs into pet bottles with a carbonation cap, much easier than a beer gun. Dr. H's method looks fine too. What dark grains did you use? Cheers
Stass Brewing I've seen those caps I might grab one and give it a try👍
Stass Brewing Recipe is in the description buddy
I want to do something for christmas, I'm really not a fan of coffee though.. did this have much of a coffee taste?
No not a hint of coffee IMO
Did you drain to vodka from the cacao nibs before adding, or just toss it all in? I'd be worried the vodka absorbed some of the chocolate flavor.
The idea of using the vodka is the extract the chocolate and kill any nasties so just chuck it all in mate.
Brewing this tomorrow, wondering did you just heat the sugar in a pot until caramelised then add wort?
MrVinylNinja I took some of the wort from the kettle and caramelised it with the sugar
MrVinylNinja Then added back into the boil at 5-10 mins from the end
Found this video very entertaining. Infact I’ve decided to make a similar beer. How long after racking did you try this beer?

Probably around 250ml but as little as possible TBH - just need to cover them so nice flat container would be best. Thanks for watching and commenting
Just want to ask .did u add the Dex to try to get the head ret as I think the dem would do that and give body. Cheers bud
Basingstoke Dave Only lactose in this one buddy but it has plenty of body. Cheers Mate👍
What temperature did you mash the other grains?
Kevin Koch I added them at mashout 77deg👍
@@HaplessGingerBrew no the regular grains. you posted the dark grain temp and time.
Kevin Koch ah sorry 65

How did you caramelise your sugar?
asdf jkl; I boiled it up until it caramelised👍
Hey, so was it only the pale malt and oats in the initial 1hr mash?
Sorry I missed this comment. Yes that’s correct then the dark at mashout
Great vid, but a quick question, why add the dark at mashout and not at mashin?
Andrew Slater it cuts down on the astringency and bitterness from the dark malts so you don’t get that bitter coffee flavor and the chocolate can shine through. Great video Graham!! In my que to brew!
