I was raised to have respect for republicans as a vital part of the two party system. I was taught that they had a different but valid viewpoint that the federal government should not overreach, the states should govern themselves more, that change needs to be done carefully and tradition should not be carelessly swept away. I even believed that it was valid that their faith was important to them, and something to be respected even if that wasn't my experience. I believed that the push and pull between philosophies was what made our country a true representative of its people, and why it was a great nation...
Not anymore. Their opinions are no longer valid and conservativism has never made this country a great nation - progressiveness has, and is the only force that will save us.
