    15 volt at the battery could be the MPPT controller being in BOOST mode initially .... looking at the specs of the controller max output volts of the controller would appear to be 14.7v - allowing for the volt gauge to have a bit of inaccuracy it would appear to be in boost mode.

    My 1 week old ( same unit, but not a "kings" rebrand) was charging 2 fully charged FLA batteries at 16.5 volts, this morning. Prob would have fried both batts if I didnt shut it down when I did. Both batts were reading 14.98v AFTER I disconnected this 20 A mppt . Its going back to Amazon, where I got it.

    Looks great man. Should suit you great out in the field to charge camera batteries, phones, drones, and all your other equipment. I built my own too my scratch. Tool a while but works great.

      Thanks, mate. Unfortunately, the mppt regulator is crap. Sent it back. New brand on the way

      @@LiquidAntler sweet, have a look at the Victron. It doesn't have all the digital readouts but is a very well-known solid performer in the industry.

      @@LiquidAntler Bugger. I hope that's not a common issue with these MPPT controllers. I have one that I'm yet to install. I ordered the 12V control box today, and also saw these:
      'Kings Plus Premium 20A MPPT Solar Regulator | Push-Button Lithium & AGM Compatible | Digital Display with Volts, Amps and Watts | Inc. Two Quick-Connect Plugs'
      So I bought one of them. I have three panels to connect, and two batteries (so far). I've also got a 3000W inverter, and a 3000W petrol genset just in case I need it. I have a dual battery kit but also want a DC-DC charger so I can use one panel to maintain charge in the vehicle batteries in case of an alternator failure.
      I know just enough about solar setups in vehicles to be a danger to myself, so this should be fun. My one saving grace is that I can connect wiring correctly, and safely.

    I have a Kings control box, But after looking at the ones for same price at BCF, BCF ones are much thicker wire on everything, from internal to Andersons. Only difference id make

    Get rid of the kings mppt Aussie arvos made a video on this charger and the volt meter was reading 15.1 after a few months it ruined his battery

    I have the same problem with the kings solar regulator. I was suspicous why my battery was getting so hot. I hooked it up to a battery monitor to monitor voltage on a graph and was able to see it always charge battery at 14.7 to 15V, even when battery is full it doesn't drop the voltage to float which it should do at 13.5V

    • @LiquidAntler
      @LiquidAntler  2 роки тому

      yea seems to be a pretty common problem 🤔

    Victron solar regulator should be the best and last one you'll ever buy. It's future proof

  • @ArtKiO
    @ArtKiO Рік тому

    @8:05 you're getting 15V probable because you're connected directly to the battery, instead of connecting to the MPPT's regulated load output, i'm just guessing

    Good to c another vid mate👌 Andrew R could b correct re it being in boost mode so did it drop down to high 14 volts after a while? If it didn’t double check with a quality multimeter the voltage coming out of the solar controller and at the battery as the voltmeters r known for being a bit inaccurate?
    If u r getting 15 volts at the battery u need to disconnect it ASAP as it will kill your battery eventually?
    If u need any further help hit me up on fb or Insta as I work in the solar field in the off road camper industry so might b able to help u?
    Cheers Darryl

      Hi Darryl, Yes, it does seem to drop down below 15 at times. I will keep and eye on it and keep checking with a multimeter 👊

    You are getting 15V because your MPPT controller is cactus. Grab a Victron 75/15 or 75/10 MPPT controller before the el cheapo kills your battery.
