  • A new series looking at the Lore of Tyria. I wanted to do the best job i can for everyone, so am willing to take on board any constructive criticism. Today we examine the 5 Ancient races.

This was awesome! As someone who is really interested in the lore of GW2, but has no idea what happened in GW1, I am really enjoying this. I'll go watch your other videos on the story so far as well! Thanks!

Do you think they are going to release all parts of Prophecies first or they might squeeze Cantha/Elona in between dragons? I think it would be awesome for example they included Elona between the release of The Crystal Desert and they join forces with the Commander and kill Kralk. Same with Cantha for Deep Sea Dragon or something :p

MeesterSun We'll only really judge the next step when we see the size of HoT. Rather than new campaigns that Nightfall and Factions were, i think the way GW2 will go, is by introducing new Regions initially. So you can potentially see an expansion to do with the Shiverpeaks and Jormag, the Crystal desert and Kral, then perhaps and underground or underwater expansion to focus on the other 2 elder dragons. Which btw i hope they don't do! #wewantcantha

It's really untrue that only the five ancient races survived the previous awakening on the dragons. You really believe that ALL the other races came into being after that previous awakening?

Ramontique Its not what i believe, its whats been said in game, which is what my video is based on.

Mikei TheMighty You mind sharing your source for that? The only confirmed race that isn't native to Tyria before the previous rise of the elder dragons are the humans. See the official calendar 205BE. Unless proven otherwise we have absolutely no reason to asume that any other race (even the Skrit and Skale) weren't present on Tyria on one way or another (albeit not as advanced).

Ramontique Its from the wiki from the Jotun entry:
The knowledge recovered by the Durmand Priorymentions the creation myths of the jotun that speak of six "swallowers" that rose to wipe the world of life in series of cycles.
The Jotun survived the Elder Dragons' rise due to being hidden by Glint along with the Seers, dwarves, and Forgotten.
This implies that there were only 5 races left after the last dragon rising. All we know regarding the calendar is the date that humans came to Tyria. The other races may have come any time before that.

Mikei TheMighty Well that's the history according to the Jotun creation MYTHS (which the Durmond Priory copied). According to the Christian Church creation myths the earth was created within seven days; but just because they claim this doesn't make it a fact. You should state sources in your videos and not pretend like they are the ultimate truth. It's like claiming there is no corruption within the FIFA because Blatter or some African guy said so.
