  • Ty and Colby are joined by Ben Ranieri of Sea Level to discuss if the issues the Mariners are currently experiencing are a bump in the road or indicative of who they actually are, how the team might maneuver Bryan Woo's latest injury, how much roster turnover can be expected at the trade deadline, and which high-end players Seattle should prioritize.

    This offense is the worst i have seen in my life time. This guy is throwing pitches right down the middle tonight and the can't touch it. They are just unprofessional. If these guy weren't pro baseball players they would be unemployed losers. They have no attention to detail. I feel bad for are pitching staff. Mark my words they will have no lead in the division by the Allstar break

      Being benched, or DFA’d is every players incentive to play better. Unfortunately, they can’t bench or DFA half the damn team. So I’m keeping my fingers crossed that multiple of these fucks are traded away at the deadline as part of a package deal.

    By the time Jerry makes any (significant) moves.... The M's will no longer be Leading the division.
    The offense is terrible. Our Relief pitching (minus Munoz) is unreliable.
    We literally had a 10 game lead 1 week ago... tonight it's 4.5....w/ a tough home stand coming up.
    What I'm saying isn't breaking news.... Jerry needs 2 act quick... Cuz this CURRENT Roster might win us a Wild Card❓... BUT, IT WILL NOT WIN A DIVISION❗❗

    The line-up is frankly scary looking at the stat line positions. The old school grades follow:
    Catcher - (B) Cal
    1B - (D) need more production from this position
    2B - (C-) Bliss, Moore, and Polanco
    3B - (B) defensive hiccups and more production from this position needed. 15 RBI's isn't acceptable.
    SS - (D) basically the same stat line as 3B
    OF - Julio (D) Raley (B) the rest (D)
    New additions - (D) Polanco, Garver, Haniger, and Raley....Raley has been the best thus far in contributions.
    Pitching staff - (B+) what keeps it from an A? Inconsistent relivers.
    Looking at the stats be prepared to buckle up.
    Jerry & Justin - (B) They went out and tried to fill up the needs, yet the players are not playing to the baseball card stats.
    Things will get interesting the deeper we go into the season. Can we hold onto first place? Will we make trades? Are they willing to give up prospects? You gotta pay to get.

    2022-Castillo. Finally break curse. *clap*
    2023-Sewald for 3 good prospects who are helping us now. Made worse for that year tho and barely miss playoffs.

    • @TheShakaBeast

      The Graveman and Sewald trades did not make them worse. Just look at their record before and after each of those trades

    • @calinator51
      @calinator51 6 днів тому +2

      @TheShakaBeast Record before or after has nothing to do with it, w/l is a team stat. Those 2021 and 2023 teams just played like crap in the first half and then went on a run. The 2021 Braves lost Acuna and then went on to in win the world series. They were mediocre while he was healthy and went on a tear a month after he left. He makes that team better. I had to give an explanation like that so you understand my point. Graveman had an 0.82 era in 33 innings with us until he was traded and while Toro was okay he didn't really add anything with a .695 ops. Trading your closer while you are in the middle of a playoff run is absolutely mindless and baffling to me, especially for what they got back. It is very bad to get rid of the guy that you rely on to lock it down at the end of the game for you like that. Not to say any of them are even close to the level of a Mariano or Hoffman but could you imagine those teams trading them away for prospects in the middle of a playoff run? What if the 2002 Angels trade away Percival for a mediocre infielder in the middle of that run? It's just the stupidest thing on earth and you lose that reliability and rock you can count on. Did it make the Mariners that much worse? Okay maybe not but record is no indication.

    • @TheShakaBeast
      @TheShakaBeast 5 днів тому

      @@calinator51 They traded for Diego Castillo two days after trading Graveman, who’s 2.86 ERA, .4 WAR, 22 strikeouts, and 2 saves over 22 innings was moot to Graveman’s numbers in Houston (3.13 ERA, .5 WAR, 27 strikeouts, 0 saves over 23 innings) and also had Sewald and eventually Munoz ready as high leverage arms. Whining about THAT trade is just a contrarian take. A team doesn’t need four closers, and Toro’s grand slam over Graveman was more relevant than anything Graveman provided for Houston (or would’ve for the Mariners) the rest of that year.

    • @calinator51
      @calinator51 5 днів тому

      @TheShakaBeast That is all fine. Just don't ever use record in baseball to evaluate individual player moves or impact. You need to look at those players and what they are doing not if they are winning or losing. Baseball is the one sport where you can't evaluate players on W/L, it is THE team sport. Many of the very very best players have not even came close to being on good teams or came close to a WS. Evaluating single trades based on records should never be done. I'll end it with this. In August Toro had a .775 OPS and the Mariners went 15-13. In September he had a .518 OPS and they went 18-8. They were at their best when he was at his worst.

    The overall problem with Miller is when he can up he was sitting 97ish and has drastically dropped the last two seasons in velo. This is a big problem, there aren’t many pitchers that are long term successful with a 92-93 fastball

  • @scottblanchard9614
    @scottblanchard9614 5 днів тому

    My opinion has changed over the last couple of weeks. I have warmed up to the idea of adding Pete Alonso. If the Mariners look to do that (platoon Garver (RH) /Raleigh (LH) and make Alonso the DH they should ask about Luis Severino as well. He could be the #5 SP or go to the bullpen and pitch in the 6th-8th.

    IF they do anything at the deadline, it needs to be as a head start to the next off season, because nothing is going to save this sorry lineup and team right now from its last TWO sh!tty off seasons. At least 2/3rds of the lineup Servais makes by drawing numbers out of a hat on any given day is hot garbage; last in MLB in batting average, first in strikeouts. You don't get anymore can't hit water if they fell out of a boat than that.
    From a purely baseball standpoint, there isn't one single position player whose roster spot should be guaranteed when this season ends Sept. 29th. I don't give a 💩 if they have a section in the outfield stands named after him, this franchise has traded away WAY better players than KFraud.
    Roster turnover needs to be drastic, and if management won't do it, then management turnover needs to be drastic. I'm not so sure any of that will happen as long as the money keeps rolling in to Stanton and Co.
