My hottest take is that the moment you put an infinite combo in your EDH deck, you’ve built a CEDH deck. Not necessarily a good CEDH deck, but if your only goal is to put together a combo that lets you win the game on the spot, you’re moving pretty far from what commander is intended to be. The social back-and-forth is gone - your only objective is to win, which is a CEDH mentality.
Personally I'm glad they chose to ban mana crypt over sol ring because everyone can afford sol ring vs mana crypt which is crazy expensive, and let's be honest this game is gate keep by price enough
Cards should never be banned according to price it’ll destroy the format, hence why the rc said the ban had nothing to do with price then proceeded to say they can’t undo them because it would fluctuate the market price of the banned cards lmao
I find the hot take about the Universes Beyond sets very funny now that they have announced that UB sets will be standard legal and have taken up space on the standard release roadmap. Also have to disagree with the idea of Universes Beyond sets "bringing players in" and that being a good thing. Sure it brings people in, but for absolutely the wrong reasons. Pokemon is the biggest franchise in the world and it did not need a Marvel crossover to do that. Furthermore, I feel like in that conversation people completely dismiss how crossover sets or the "fortnitification" of a piece of media completely errodes its identity. Magic used to have a thoroughly expanded world with well crafted lore and stories that made it a unique piece of art in its own right. Crossover sets just serve to muddy that identity and puts in on the backside. ESPECIALLY now with how UB sets take spots in the standard release. I am sure that people who like Final Fantasy might be interested to get those cards, but to already enfranchised players who like the game for its own worlds and lore and characters, it's a slap in the face, and only pushes away those players from the game. I have seen a few people at my local playgroup get into Magic because of universes beyond sets. But I have also seen even more players quit because of it.
Honestly i find it so funny bc if you dont combo with thassa, its honestly an awful card. But bc it has the win condition on it, its broken beyond belief
That other Krypt guy does not speak my mind. Mana Crypt forever. RIP to the greatest
❤ appreciate the kind words and shout out 😁 You guys are awesome. Hot takes are always funny to see.

Thassas oracle should be banned. Not a hot take. We all think it.
