you inspire me to play when i don't want to. thank you man
Thank you for the music, Mr. Betts and thank you for the tribute, Mr. Lemmo.
Dickey would have loved to had a looper in the earlier days. I saw the ABB many times in my life and several incarnations of gutair pickers who accompaned Dickey. Fir a few years he played both his and Duanes parts. He was a driving player. He had it. The comments of many altjpugh he played note for note lead to a lot of his issues in life. He had the confidence but the lack of respect from the audience and several writers really hurt him. I saw him first hand. The man was a guitar genious. He did and did it every night. He paid a heavy price. A lot was performed with his Les Paul's. Later with Stratacaster. Dickey Betts always had my respect. Yeah, he played the tough guy, at times somebody had to. Seems there was always someone or situation trying to eat him alive. I'm glad his performances luve on through his son. Another fine picker.
Some of your best playing 🤘🤘
What a great tribute ML!! Filmore East and Idelwilde South, two of my faves. You get better every day!
RIP Dickey Betts, and also; those pelham blue SG's are lot of fun. 🤘😎🙇♂️
RIP Dickie Betts. I didnt get into them until probably my late 30's? I immediately wondered why they were considered Southern Rock? Skynrd, .38 Special, the Outlaws, and Molly Hatchet are Southern Rock to me NOT ABB. There is blues and jazz mixed in their music that none of the aforementioned bands had. And one if not the main reason for that is Dickie and the scales that you mentioned Michael. Truly stood out in a crowd of guitar players
Love the unique finish.
Nice tribute to Dickie Betts.
Good job Lemo The almond brothers one of my favorite bands I have the album eat a peach great album you rock man keep up the good work love you all at norms❤️❤️❤️
You've out-done yourself one this one Michael. Wonderful work sir.
Fantastic playing Lemmo, you're da man!
Beautiful Guitar,Well Done.
I love that color♥️🕊️
Nice DB tribute with your GOTD. That Blue SG Has some great natural sounds. And Lemmo really shows them off. Blue is the best color I've seen on the SG!🎉
Cool thing about those early 80’s SG’s is the output jack is on the side👍
I'd still have my Epi crystal snowflake white SG Muse with jack on side - the neck carve was sweet, push pull pots sounded great, but that damn laurel fretboard - ultimately the ONLY reason I sold it. Kind of went overboard replacing it though with a Gibson Iommi Monkey and $170 Epi SG w/Kill Pot to protect it, LOL !!! 👀
What a unique color for the SG, most I've seen are red. As always Mike, your skills are just superb.
it's pelham blue isn't it?
Nice Michael, always enjoy the videos, tell Norman Hey from SE Texas Bear ❤💯🙏
Awesome tribute to Dickey betts. Thank u lemmo
Oh yeahhhhh that’s the colour
Elizabeth Jones Reed Napier. 1845-1935. Rose Hill Cemetery. Macon, Ga.
Too bad for the pick up change! Bill Lawrence was making pick ups for Gibson at the time and those were probably very sweet sounding, low output Tarbacks like I have in my 81 335!!
Nothing beats the bite of good SG, all the way back to EC in Cream😂
Well done Michael
I’ve been wanting an sg for slide stuff
Thanks
great guitar and ......playing Michael
Sounds So Good
I am an SG guy. My 89 has dots too
I have the 1980 Fire Brand SG!
Lots of Dots!
SG Specials have dot inlay and SG Standards have trapezoid or block inlay. They made a mistake this guitar is a SG Special not SG Standard.
@@RadiationDayso is my 89
Pull out Highway Call and give it a listen
Dickey songs like E. Reed were jazzy, then he would do Jessica which was country. Amazing guitarist. A giant has passed.
Absolutely gorgeous, 'love the colour, 'love the tone.. Any idea what the Pickups are? 😎♥
DB got a great hold on ML's playing today.
Dickey…. Dickey was a friend of mine! I met him in 1968 when I was 15. His son Duane is a friend of mine!
1980 Standards had bound necks and the block inlays - what's goin' on here? 👀
Yeah, and not in blue. Unless this was someone’s custom order… or some really modified a “The SG” Deluxe since that did have an ebony fingerboard with dots.
@@joermnyc I think this is one of the "Firebrand" SGs of 1980 - not mahogany/rosewood but walnut/walnut/ebony with "The SG" neck pickup and a Velvet Brick at the bridge - coils exposed but as he said the pups are swapped out. Didn't come in blue so someone rattle canned it or was special order. The headstock logo on Firebrand SGs and LPs was dark, too so who knows....But we do know this ain't a regular SG Standard of 1980 but it was called SG Standard naturally. 👀
Awesome SG! Pelham blue is one of my favorite finishes, this or a Firebird in that color is tops for me 😀
Was wondering what loop pedal you are using? Thanks! Have a great weekend!
That guitar has the LP neck pickup placement. Most of them have the pickup further from the neck, which I don't think sounds as good. Unusual Ebony fret board, non bound neck, and dot inlays. I've never seen a 1980 SG standard appointed like that. I think the Firebrand and Artist both came that way.
Jessica is my favorite Dickey Betts song
Sweet
Nice! Jazz on that guitar seems almost sacrilegious though 😂
Bill Danaghy ❤
" Good Lord I feel like I'm dying..."
Hey Mike, I never had much of a desire to play SG’s however in 2009 I played one in Red that of all things had a nice Ebony Fingerboard. I too, could have played it all day. Something about that pairing has mojo, IMO 😊. You really sounded good today. Saw Allman Bros @ Filmore West either in 95or96.
They could bring it
Fillmore West closed in 1971
@@davidcollin1436 yea, you’re right.
My bad. It was a Concert Venue I’d say just a block or two from market street. Saw Nancy Griffith there too.
Just can’t remember the name of the place. Drinks served at the tables in front of the stage. Super nice. Had a theatre feel to it.
Where did the Standard inlays go?
I’ll do my own bike whenever…
No Strats on Straturday??! 😮😄
Michael "Looper" Lemmo
Dot inlay on a standard???
color just like the ferrari formula 1 car for miami gp
Good lord Michael, you’ve got an SG in your hands, don’t you know any rock & roll?
It’s not my bike. It’s my Uncle’s bike. I’m just tending to it…
👍✌❤😎
Sure this a Standard? Looks like a variation of a “The SG” or Firebrand to me…
That's an SG special not a standard.
you caught a mistake, your right SG Specials have dot inlay and Standards have trapezoid or block inlay.
@@RadiationDay plus the headstock has a gold logo instead of the acrylic logo and no neck binding.
@@toddbonsang5802 Specials do not have binding and Standards do, you are right
I think it’s a variation of a “The SG” or Firebrand. They started to add color to these in the 80’s.
Ummm, isn't it Saturday....
It hasn’t turned green yet! Could be a case queen 😂
