    This is a comment telling you to wear a mask. I haven't actually watched the video yet, I will later while I'm in bed, but I'm sure there is probably a point in this video where you don't wear a mask, and you should. Or maybe watch out and be careful with that knife! Or maybe be more careful and wear glasses when you are doing that thing. I'm not sure as I haven't watched the video but I'm sure you are going to be doing something dangerous that it's really important we all tell you not to do.
    This video will probably be enjoyable, I'll find out later.

Something about the way you do things is so soothing and educational and it reminded me that I (and I think people in general) am at my best when in the creation process. Looks great as usual man. I don't think I could survive without my airbrush for terrain anymore. But yeah, it takes some playing around and practice to be confident you're not just going to clog it up and have to spend 30mins cleaning it to get it to work again, but it's worth learning. Oh, and one day you'll probably leave paint in it...that'll likely be more than 30mins to clean :) Thanks for the video.

    Ideas: use caulking, polyfilla or plaster on the foam. It gives immediate rock effect and seals all those embarrassing lines which make it obvious the model is 1” thick XPS. Use EPS not XPS. Reclaim it for free from the local tip. You will need a vacuum cleaner at hand.

    Hi, I just discovered your channel and I think I've decided what to do in the rest of the lockdown :)
    I'm writing a big to-buy list of materials and tools (I quite a noob in the art of making terrain and scenery)... May I ask what colors do you use? In some of your videos you mentioned oil colors but I think there should be some acrylic ones? Since brands will be surely different my I ask an advice on what I should look for (in addition to "not buying cheap stuff" ^^)?
    Thanks!

    • @Miscast
      @Miscast  4 роки тому

      Welcome! I buy colours I think look nice and I buy artist quality paints. I use artist quality because they have lots of pigment and therefore good coverage so I can work faster by using less coats of paint. The brand I use is Jo Sonja, its a mid-range priced paint at the art supply store.

    That Bleached Lens Effect... so good.
    Nice use for the Glue Lids, too.
    Do you think that Liquid Nails is better than PVA? It's just that i've used Selleys products before, and your hand gets tired after pumping for so long.
    Apparently you can mix Metho with Silicon to make water effects. Worth a shot and cheaper than Epoxy.
    Nah but i also came to the conclusion: "Must be in stock at Bunnings at 9pm". None of this "oh the Arts & Craft Store is closed after 'x' on the weekend."
    What Layer Height are you using for the 3D terrain? I'm @ 0.05 on my FDM. Takes longer but you can't really see the lines.

    • @Miscast
      @Miscast  4 роки тому +1

      I think it's pretty comparable to PVA, but I like the most about it is the ability build up forms, fill gaps and sort of sculpt it. I think you can get better chalking guns if that's a problem for you, I just use the cheap ones though.
      Yeah I've seen the silicon thing, I haven't tried it, I will. I think the epoxy was $2 which is a steal for something this small.
      Yeah Bunnings at 9pm has really saved my ass so many times.

    I really love those little 3d printable bits and pieces. Just glue them on and it automatically looks way more detailed. Sadly other than your package, i have a really hard time finding something similar, also for fantasy. There are a few doors, boxes and barrels and such, but no good other pack of a lot of things like yours. I'd be happy to pay for more good packs of greebles anytime

      @@Miscast so just brainstorming, i've come up with these. some more in theme with your set, then others, because in fantasy it's a little harder to just stick some bits to a wall then in sci fi, but whatever - pick the ones you like :) (also no particular order.. well i guess my brains order)
      window shutters
      windows
      doors
      barrels
      boxes
      wagon wheels
      grain/flous/ ... sacks
      shop/tavern signs
      flower boxes (is this the right term? the things you put under windows)
      window stills
      hay stacks
      buckets
      tools/weaponry
      (hanging) lanterns
      barn cranes
      chimney tops
      gravestones
      bird nests
      shields (decorative wall mounted)
      gargoyls/ facade statues
      other facade decorations
      flags/poles
      roof ridge figures
      tower spires
      ropes
      wheelbarrows/small wagons
      vials/pots/flasks
      some are also just scatter i'd glue to the bottoms on things outside.
      hope this helps somehow

    What is more important to you when making a video, doing something original or get the execution right?

    • @Miscast
      @Miscast  4 роки тому

      Not sure. Every video I make I want to add the conversation in a meaningful way, that's the goal. I want what I make to be well executed as best I can but I don't think well-executed terrain is important for a good video. If that's what you're asking?
