After looking into the sparklings and the whites from all around the Italian boot, we’re getting to a region that is very dear to my heart because I spent a while working there working as a winemaker, and because well the wines are delicious, Tuscany this is. In our next episode, we’ll look at all the most remarkable traditional and historic Tuscan red wine styles, but today I want to focus on explaining the concept of Super Tuscan wines, how it came about, what the wines are, how different from the others, and who they are, as we’ll cover a few unmissable names you must have in mind if you want to claim to know a little something about Italian vino.

I just wish there was more content about second wines and the more affordable producers. Less of the $100-200 wines and more of the $30-$50 wines. The ones we don't feel guilty about drinking. I feel someone like you has so much knowledge on what great wines we can find on a budget especially as an everyday wine.
I am a certified Italian Wine Scholar and totally loved this on super Tuscans. Eager to see fantastic videos and info on Barolo and Barbaresco.
Agree, Piedmont breakdown is what I can't wait as well, and one video about Amarone also, being so specific and one of my favourites...
Grazie mille ! Thank you so much for all the information.very helpful😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃

Nicely done ✔
Great video, thanks for sharing knowledge in such approachable way... Would love one video dedicated to Amarone, being so specific, and Piedmont region breakdown as well...
Bravo
We love a Super Tuscan!! Do you have a favourite producer?
Very impressed with your knowledge and passion, you deserve tons of more views. I'll try to promote your channel, Julien. Thanks.
The supertuscans were a perfect marketing operation from the start. Regarding the Tuscan Bordeaux blends they are excellent wines but they cost at least 3 times if not more than their value and this thanks to the imaginative scores of the usual American critics with villas in Tuscany. If I want Cab and Merlot I drink Medoc or Pessac, if I want Merlot I drink St. Emilion or Pomerol which have an elegance and depth that the wines of the Tuscan Maremma can only dream of,
and very often you find beautiful Bordeaux at prices much lower than the most famous Supertuscans. Different speech for 100% Sangiovese, there are outstanding and faithful to the territory, some you mentioned as Flaccianello, Cepparello (recently owned by the French) or Montevertine but also Percarlo and Fontalloro.
"Different speech for 100% Sangiovese, there are outstanding and faithful to the territory" Fantastic!
To be honest with you, NO bottle of wine is worth even 50 bucks in term of producing.
I like this
Amazing video. An educational journey. One question - if Flaccianello is 100% sangiovese, why is it considered a super Tuscan?
History goes back to the Etruscan civilization before the Roman Empire.
Mmmh le Margaux 1979 😏
hank you for the content, instant subscriber! (but you'd want to revise your Italian pronunciation tho! ;)
thanks much Alex :) welcome aboard 🙏🙏😊🍷
Why most toscan wines are sweet? I tasted one over there which was a Muscato and apparently many do sweet wines over in that area
Would like to see some less-super Tuscans, like maybe 25€ / bottle, do they exist?
try le volte dell ornellaia, its their second super tuscan style wine that is much cheaper
