    Thank you for posting this. Jalousies are so expensive to replace and are such a big part of our homes here in Hawaii. Finding an inexpensive repair solution is such a relief! I've found these clips available on Amazon. I searched for a product called: Prime-Line H 3934 Window Security Clip, or CRL Two-Piece Window Security Clip. Both are basically the same product by different manufacturers. One might cost less than the other.

      Great job for finding the parts. They got this part at your local ACE dealer. Who knew! They also have two types of glass replacements for your jalousies. If you measure your broken one they will also cut to length for you too.

      Yes for sure. This works great if the bottom portion of a window slat clip is broken. You'd have to remove the whole broken clip to then find another one & pop rivet it on to make the fix. Not now!

    Thanks for this very useful information. Where did you get the part?

      This part was purchased at Ace Hardware of all places! Not sure if Home Depot or Lowes has it. I would try Ace first. If you can't find it there, ask someone there & they might find it for you...

    Is there a name for the ones you found at ACE? I cannot find with the name of the brand.

    • @videojoeshows
      @videojoeshows  2 роки тому

      Not sure of the exact name but the ACE hardware I went to had them. I would think you could ask someone there & if that store has them then they will take you over to where they are. Or maybe they will have them on their website where you might have to order them from there...as a thought.

    Can a broken jalousie glass still be glued on together? using super glue or epoxy?

    • @videojoeshows
      @videojoeshows  3 роки тому +1

      Maybe. You would have to read on the super glue bottle to see if you can attach glass. There might be another product at the hardware store that could do it if super glue didn't you'd have to check it out. But if you measure your broken piece of glass you can go to ACE Hardware & tell them the measurement & they will cut you a piece to fit. I've done that before...as a thought for you.

    How do you replace the screen if it has been removed? And where do you suggest where to get the screen from?

    • @videojoeshows
      @videojoeshows  3 роки тому

      If you are missing your entire screen for the window then you would need to call like a window company & they can come out & measure for a new screen then they would make an entire screen for you. Not sure how else to do it unless you still have the screen frame portion but it's really tricky to install screening material without bowing your screen. If you have the metal frame for the screen then you can get screening material from The Home Depot or Lowes.

    aloha is this in oahu? i am in honolulu and might want to call these guys

    • @videojoeshows
      @videojoeshows  3 роки тому +1

      No. This was on Maui. These were brothers who worked at a condo complex the maintenance department. They picked up these little parts at good 'ole Ace Hardware of all places. You should be able to get the clips there & fix your jalousie windows yourself I hope. Ace will also measure & cut glass for you if you have some broken window slats....

    Where do you get this kit? What is the brand name?

    • @videojoeshows
      @videojoeshows  3 роки тому

      Believe it or not we got this kit at Ace Hardware. I've never seen them before watching these guys put this clip on for me. Worked great though. Then I didn't have to figure out how to remove the broken clip to then try to get another one to install. These clips worked great. Try Ace Hardware before anyone else & you might get lucky. If they don't have them in stock then ask them if any other Ace Hardware has them close by. If you strike out then I would try The Home Depot then Lowes. Let me know if you find them & good luck with your repair!

    One of my door cranks on my door won't turn the glass open or closed. Any thoughts?

    • @videojoeshows
      @videojoeshows  2 роки тому

      Not sure but maybe your door crank is old & rusty & welded shut? You would need to see if you can remove the handle crank assembly then you can see what might be wrong. The threaded areas inside might need to be sprayed with silicone to free up the gear but it sounds like you may need to replace the window crank. You would have to remove crank then take to a window company to see if they have a replacement you can get from them. They may need to order for you. You could also take a pic of your handle crank assembly & take the pic to a window company to see if they can tell you what might be going on or maybe they can order for you that way without you having to remove the entire crank assembly. You would also have to take measurements so they know the size etc if you decided not to remove the window crank to bring in to them. The best thing to do is to take it in. If you don't feel comfortable with all that then you would have to call out a window company & have them check it out for you. They may still have to order the window crank but you never know as they might have one similar on the truck. Good luck & let me know what happens... Thanks for your message.

      We got these at Ace Hardware. I also heard one of my viewers say they ordered them from Amazon as well but try Ace Hardware first. I was surprise to find they were available at Ace Hardware. Not sure if you can get at The Home Depot or Lowes but that could be an option too but I would try Ace first. Good luck & let me know how you do on the repairs!
