listen the lecture carefully........ It will be a superimposable image..
      Sir ne bola hai ki
1.pehle compound ki mirror image banao.....
2.Or phir first compound (jiski mirror image banayi hai) usko 180° rotate karo .....
3.Or phir check karo ki wo imposable image hai ya nahi....
And iss hisaab se sulphur wala compound imposable image banayega or optically active nahi hoga.....
And we can clearly see that.... Sulphur is bounded with two same atoms which directly shows that the compound has not any chiral centre and thus optically inactive .....

Chira Centre ki contion:-----1. The Atom should be sp3 hybridized
    2. "4" Valency different grp/atom se satisfied ho.
Then in case of that SULPHUR at 1:00 the given valency of sulphur is 6 in compond
But out of the 6 valency , 4 VALENCY is satisfied with different grp or Atom. THEREFORE IT IS CHIRAL CENTRE

At 59:00 how come there are two chiral centres because OH and OH are same groups attached to the same carbon anyone pls explain

    • @roshanpaul5578
      @roshanpaul5578 5 років тому +15

he explained it, anyway if ur doubt is still not clear, its because when we consider one carbon to which the hydroxyl is attached we actually get a carbon which has one OH , H , and the RING ( now the ring is not at all symmetrical, it has got two different groups attached, the methyl group and the other hydroxyl group so we can treat them as two different groups denoted as X & Y ) ,,, hence the carbon has got one OH , H , X , Y hence its chiral , HAD it been two similar groups instead of one methyl and one hydroxyl there would not be any chirality, hope u understand, if not you can mail me paulroshan29@gmail.com or call me instead 9123323441 (WhatsApp number)

Bro the same mistake I've done too..
Notice carefully that both OH are not directly connected to the same carbon..
There are four different group present:-
      1st 'OH group'
      2nd 'H'
      3rd 'carbon having CH3'
And 4th is 'carbon having another OH group attached to it..!'
