Incredible performance by Oscar Schmidt, the "Holy hand" scored 10 of his 14 3-pointer shoots, some from 9 meters.
Antonello Riva one of the best italian basketball player scored 34 points but it wasn´t enough....

In the mid 70s while living in Brazil my dad who in his mid 20s played against a young 19 year old Oscar Schmidt in a tournament called “Torneio das America’s,” dad had small town high school and small college basketball experience. He said Oscar was good.

If you don´t know nothing about a player you shouldn´t talk about him. World Champions and Olimpics all time leader, multiple year best scorer in greatest Europe leagues, Euroleague, Korac Kuc, etc.... same things said about Drazen Petrovic and when he went to the NBA closed a lot of mouths.
Just look Dirk Nowitzki, playing in 3rd división of Germany league (one of the worst leagues in Europe) goes to the NBA and pisses over your "greatestest" defenders.

Two of the four greatest FIBA scorers I had the pleasure to watch and enjoy: Oscar & Riva. The other two: Drazen and Galis. On the next level, many to mention; one of them is also in this game: Ferdinando Gentile (his early 90s exhibitions vs Real Madrid are really exciting). Unfortunately I missed Korać and also Dalipagić on his prime. Miki Berkovich, Doron Jamchi, Giannakis, Kicanović, Arijan Komazec... Where are the great FIBA scorers now? I really miss this European basketball era, exciting, catchy, funny as hell. Today's game is a nonsense.

Except the last two, they made a great impact on the league. But it would be unfair not to mention Kreso Cosić, Delibasic and even Meneghin, they all could make a decent NBA career, but in Europe they made more money and gained more success, and, there was the ban to wear the national jersey if they made the pros.

The 1980 and 1984 Olympic teams with college players were able to beat teams with NBA players during exhibition games. The reason why the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia could beat the Americans was because they played team-style ball similar to that of the 60s, and it happened again with the American drought from 2000 until 2008 when they did have NBA players.

If you can't identify talent and greatness when you see, if you need an nba jersey for that, than you are simply very ignorant about the sport. Sorry.

So many people here talking out of their asses. Schmidt was the size of Kevin Durant with just as quick of a release and could raise up and shoot over almost anyone who matched against him. Go ask Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, and David Robinson what they thought of Oscar.

papaluca123 Yes, there are many great foreign players today and in the past who were not able to star in the NBA. Yet, none of them would have been in the discussion for GOAT. Top 30, yes. Top 20, some. Yet top 10, No. None had the greatness of many NBA players. Jordan, Bird, Oscar Robertson, Wilt, Magic, Kobe, Tim Duncan, Shaquille, Kareem, LeBron, and Bill Russell are examples of NBA players who were greater than any international players. Also, NBA greatness is a large-scale media output for GOAT, and international players would not get that same exposure and media as an American player, as the NBA is the largest and most known professional league, based in the US and Canada. Saying that the GOAT was not in America or the NBA is ignorant, because it is not true, and the argument will never be finished because of what we were not able to see. yes, mental game international is better at, but we teach that at a high level, and that is part of being great, so that would not be a single thing to judge overall greatness and pure talent. Let us stop this argument and enjoy what we do know, instead of starting and continuing arguments that will not go anywhere.

labron should be nowhere hear the players in your list. Drazen Petrovic should. Your claim that no international players belong there is ridiculous; in fact, Tim Duncan IS an international / non US player.

Who's saying he's a top 10 ever? Just himself based on speculation. Truth is none of us know how great he would have done in the NBA. Would he have adjusted and dominated? Maybe not? We'll never know. But to say the players he played against couldn't make a D league team is an insult considering international teams like the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia were very capable of defeating the Americans even back then.

I'm watching now I think a re-broadcasting of the basketball hall of fame and he fucking entered it, how about that, why you may ask? I think from what I've heard he lead the basketball olympics with 42 points per contest ffs. And from what papaluca said 47 points against the USA.

Fortunately NBA all time top 10 is not the world top 10 (americans can´t understand it) but USA in not the center of the world and for sure NBA championship is not WORLD championship.
A lot of good players are playing in the NBA for the money. In the past only some International players played in the NBA because the trainers and american mentality.
    That´s the truth

The defense really is pathetic in this clip. I don't know if Oscar can shoot a fadeaway, but he never had to in this game.... If he can shoot a fadeaway like Dirk, I take it all back.
