That stat about NBA players at the Olympics is a perfect example of how stats can be manipulated to mean whatever you want. The 1992 number didnt include Tony Kukoc, as he was not yet an NBA player, and the 2024 figure credits my Australian team with 9, even though a couple were in the league for about 15 seconds.

goes with out saying that if the players today are so much better than the players of the past...than that gap shouldn't have shrunk so much.

This is the argument many people refuse to acknowledge

I think the USA team today is the best we've seen. That said, it's only by a slight margin-perhaps about 5%. The rest of the world, however, is significantly better, with nations improving anywhere from 20-60 percent. That's just the talent level, mind you-these other teams also have more familiarity with FIBA rules and styles along with better chemistry. This same phenomenon happened in fútbol-it used to be basically Brasil and Germany, but little by little, Argentina, France, and Spain began to rise up. Then so did other countries. Nowadays, there's a lot of parity in FIFA, and African nations are really on the cusp of being legitimate contenders in a generation or two.
Last kinda supporting evidence (hypothetical, really): If US football became an Olympic event today, then the US team would likely obliterate any and all other national competitors. By 2060, though, the US, while likely better than ever, will have only improved in small increments on their dominant excellence. The rest of the world? Well, shit, they'll have improved _by leaps and bounds_ because they'd started so much later and have so much room to learn and grow.
      Cheers bud

@@afifsamirnasreddine3768 The Dream Team would have waxed this year's US Team. Their defense is terrible.

If the self proclaimed GOAT = Embiid, would make USA loose in this tournament, it would be so sweet

The main issue is a matchup switch?
Wish this Timf guy said what the actual issue was. EFFORT. Doing whatever it takes to win.
Kobe and Jordan played defense almost exclusively to WIN.

He's in the inner Coward and Chief LeDikLikNik coterie (and payroll). why would he talk about LeBron's 'load management' failure to hustle, lack of leadership...desperate need to be the main dude. problem is...they can't LeBlame the coach and management on this go around.

Didn't even watch the video just see the thumbnail. The amount of money Embiid makes all these tools from the straight up hate is amazing. And all the youtube and espn tools know this. Put Embiid in the title. Get views and traffic in the comments

More "NBA" Players today than years past is such cope. Oscar Schmidt was on the level with anyone in this tournament , including Lebron. He never played in the NBA. Sabonis couldnt play until the 1990s, because he lived under a dictatorship and couldnt leave. So many excuses for almost losing to a 43 point underdog.

They also completely overlook that overseas NBA prospects are only considered if they are head and shoulders above domestic prospects. Anyone else just stays playing overseas.
