I am restoring a 73 Winnebago motorhome. I put that cam (6401) 440 engine in and breakin was no problem..Used Driven breakin grease..Hedman stainless headers..I could not be any happier!!
Hope it holds up! Put a Summit K6900 kit in a 273 last year, 10,000 miles no issues. Put a K6901 in a 318 a few months ago, did everything the same, that one ate a lifter real fast. Yeah it was turning, nice bowl shape with a hole into the oil cavity. I'm calling it a soft lifter, most of them looked like new, that one looked like a million miles. About 500 miles on a Schneider reground solid lifter cam in it now. Had a NOS set of solid lifters and 273 rockers.
Great video! I've done more cam swaps in cars than on engine stands, even in a van! Summit cam and lifters are in the low dollar 318 since 2016 and still going strong!!
Very cool. Thanks for another fine video. I need to do a cam swap on my 340 small block 72 challenger. I have a lifter that ticks for a minute on startup until it pumps up. Do you think I will have a clearance problem getting the cam in and out? Also, you didnt seem concerned about any metal being in the engine from that cam and lifter wear. Did you find any metal in the oil? And I was thinking about going with a roller cam and lifters. I bought the car built years ago. It supposedly has a eagle stroker crank kit and fancy rods and pistons, (416 cu in) 10.5:1 compression, edelbrock heads. Do you think a roller cam and lifters would be good move or not?
I've experienced absolutely ZERO issues using the Summit K6401(Elgin) Cam in driver type 440's... and in my opinion it actual makes very good power/trq punching way above it's weight class. Works fine with HP Manifolds.... but really comes alive with Headers.
@@dirtlump thanks for sharing! My friend Rodney Byrd recommended this cam to me for this build and it’s doing well. He’s got over 200 miles so far with no issues.
@@minnesotatomcat yes sir! I like Gen for everything. You can wrap a greasy part and ship it across the country without oil soaking through the cardboard as well.
@@JustMoparJoe I bought a huge box of them when I got my last pup but she refused to use them for anything but shredding and making a mess 🤣 so I started using them for pig mats and haven’t looked back since 👍
Nice work Joe, sounds great.
Looks all clean and nice.
Like that you painted and dressed it up.
Another happy customer.
Have a good weekend. 👍🇺🇸👍💯
Good to see the Fury project is back...great job on the swap...and thanks Joe ..🔧🔧👍
What a beautiful car with a sound to match! My fear of modern flat tappets is slightly reduced.

Such a sweet car! I miss my old Fury!
Feel like I’m watching Bob Ross with the happy little installer tools.
That's a cool ride. Sounds good too. Great video, lots of detail and great info.
Nice job Joe!
Great video Joe like you did by checking lifters and cam before install it should all be good.
Nice car, great job Joe 👍

@@318willrun thanks, Tim! I was very pleased with this cam break in and quality. May the epidemic is over!
I ran that cam in my old 400. No problems and sounded great!
Seeing is believing! I honestly didn't think that cam was going clear.
Good job Joe, keep up the great content.
@@jeffdavis5704 thanks Jeff! This was a fun one to throw in and get back on the road
