Stop-motion tutorial on how to do a photo transfer on aluminum using DASS 'Supersauce' and transfer film. Materials can be ordered from www.digitalarts...
I'm thinking about using this technique on the outside of my MacBook Pro laptop computer. Do you know if the image will eventually scratch off? Or once the image is transferred will it never come off?
I wouldn't recommend it. You'd have to sand the outside of your MacBook in order to create a surface the transfer can adhere to. It would work I guess, but I've only ever made wall art. The finished transfer, if coated with a finishing spray, will stay for a long time I would think but, like I said, I've never transferred onto a surface that would be at risk of being brushed against all the time.
I know this is posted a year ago, but the MacBook is built with an aluminum body. This is how it dissipates heat. I made the mistake of covering that aluminum with a full body skin and while it looked awesome, the heat wasn't being pushed out like it was before. I eventually cooked my laptop. This won't nearly be as bad, but just assume the risk before you try it and hopefully you don't end up like me.
Did you print your image with laser or inkjet or does it matter?
