From 25:29:00 mark "When you give your kids choice and let them be responsible for their learning, test scores go up, engagement goes up, motivation goes up..."

Here's why. The principal goal of the film is to bring communities together to discuss education, their own school, and what going-forward priorities should be. We've supported more than 10,000 community screenings in 35 countries around the world. It's now available on our www.innovationplaylist.org, for free. But we'd still love communities to watch it as a group.

Ted Dintersmith Hmm? It seems that only the trailer and the discussion guide are free on this site. I’ll keep looking around the site.

We know that humans learn in many different ways. This looks interesting, but I would think, that perhaps again the kids who are more introvert and shy will stand to the side, keep observing, but don't engage. They might not get the full benefit from this type of learning. How will this work for them?

If you watch the full documentary, there is actually a student exactly like you described... It shows her transformation over the course of her freshman year at New Tech High... And it's pretty incredible. The full documentary is available online... You should definitely watch it. It's worth it!!

It is most likely to fail if our schools use this method. Teach one year class(physics or math) with one big project is ridiculous. Students cannot get benefits from this education. It is very close to Chairman Mao's culture revolution. Students don't need to study in classroom, they were educated through the work of backyard steel furnaces. It is much big and good project than which was presented in this film. Do you expect students can study physics/math/chemistry altogether from it? Do you know how Chinese said "one generation has been wasted". Stop it, no Common Core!
