      Once school starts again in August, our Governor is requiring face masks for everyone entering school and social distancing everywhere. God has put homeschooling on my heart. My kids are on the Autism spectrum. Socializing and facial recognition are everything!

      Yes, I’m here because of the epidemic that’s going on now. I would like to know more about home schooling.
      I’m not ready to sent my kids back to school any time soon!!
      I don’t believe that all students will follow the protocol. It’s sad to said but it’s the truth.

    I am a father that is trying to take on the task of homeschooling. It would be awesome to ‘erase’ the idea that homeschooling is just for mothers.

    Around 8:15, I realized these ladies weren't really going to tell me how to "start homeschooling". But it was fun putting the video on 1.5X playback speed. That way, I only wasted about 6 minutes figuring out these ladies weren't teaching me how to actually START homescooling.

    • @pc4764
      @pc4764 4 роки тому +1

      @@BronPuca83 That's the hard part of this discussion. Too often people equate homeschooling with fundamentalist Christian ideas, like creationist evolution--yikes. I homeschooled my kids, and my daughter now runs a homeschool resource center and her kids have gone there, one graduated and successfully in college and another heading there in a year. WE prefer to meet in person, but have moved online to meet the crisis. The personal contact is important to us and we'll be happy to see each other in person again. There are a lot of resources out there. I started with John Holt when I was in teacher training. Read Blake Boles. Think of ways to incorporate your community resources. Build on your kids' passions.

    • @BronPuca83
      @BronPuca83 4 роки тому

      @@pc4764 That's amazing! I'm glad to hear success stories from the opposite end of the homeschooling spectrum. I was looking for grants to help me purchase some books and curriculum, and a few of them specifically said "If you're teaching secular education you will not qualify, do not apply". It's heart breaking. Like me and my children are somehow less deserving of an education opportunity because we aren't religious.
      I know I'm going to bumble through this year, but I'm finding it very rewarding already to learn along with them and prepare them for what the future may hold.
      Any tips on resources to get me going?!

      It’s the same with my son and grandson. Yes our Christian Faith is part of why we are homeschooling but we have other reasons as well.
      Being able to give my grandson a better education is a big part of it. Being able to personalize the curriculum to his needs and strengths is another reason.
      We will keep you in our daily prayers.

      People don't want to discuss Jesus in school because religious beliefs should not be in public schools. They are people who don't believe in any of that. Others have other religions/ beliefs.

    ?? So let's say I'm going to have the boy homeschool this year coming. What does a person literally do? Do I need to call the state (that thinks they own our children) and tell them or the school board? And are there places to send test scores? I really do not know these very first beginning steps.. All I know is a child can watch a monkey and learn more than public school offers. Hope I don't come across blunt but Homeschool sounds great. Not sure how to activate the process.
