I got the new 390 and its loaded with electronics, and i love em. I specifically bought it because it had so many more of these features than its competition. I can see if you want less for off road i guess. But these features are here to stay and mine work amazingly well. I dont have the cam issues on this bike but those 790 family issues are definitely a problem. But its not all their bikes, my buddy has 120k on his '20 390 and another buddy has a 1290 with around 75k and they are still runnin strong.

I know there are a lot of haters/bots that just keep spamming the same stories over and over again, but between all those haters there are quite a few KTM owners (me included) that had a really rough experience with the brand. Although I keep following the brand and being curious about what they release, I really have a tough time pulling the trigger on another KTM in the future. After two years of ownership I feel that the next issue is just around the corner every time I go for a ride (this week my clutch slave cylinder gave up at just 8000km)
KTM need to assure people that their existing customers will be treated fairly with full reimbursement of costs for camshaft issues rather than the piecemeal drip feed so far. I won’t be buying another KTM without the option of extended warranty on my current KTM.
Loved my 2009 990SMT which was so superior in conception to modern KTMs. Absolutely bullet proof, looked unique, true go anywhere, ride all day but not an over-powered, overweight farkle fest either. The parallel twin bikes really look built down to a price🫣. My neighbour’s 6mths old 890SMT is so tatty looking & visibly falling apart already. Not surprised they’re struggling to sell bikes these days. Cynical pursuit of profit margin turns out to be not the brilliant business strategy after all.
I think the 390 Enduro R will be a success. It's manufactured in India, with the engine produced by Bajaj, the same company that makes the Triumph 400 Speed and Scrambler. I haven't heard of any camshaft issues with the 390.
They need to fix their public image first , with failing cams and a total lack of respect for their existing customers with various issues both mechanical and electrical they will go under if they do not fix these issues first.
It’s not quantity we want but quality! Wake up KTM and build some smaller capacity twins like certain other manufacturers - young and older alike we don’t all want 200bhp monsters!

I got a KTM 890 Adv R 2023 and its concerning seing so many if them being sold on Facebook Marketplace for $10k. The resale value must be poor and the consumer git stuck purchasing a bike with depreciating value. Lots of money lost in trade-in and sale due to KTM lack of quality control followed by even worse costumer care.

I wanted the 790 Duke badly until I sat on one. Didn't even bother with a test ride. Such a plasticky feeling. I'll just get the XSR900 for the same price.
I own a 2007 Hayabusa and a 2013 Kawasaki ZX-14R. I love both of them and don't want a KTM. Both bikes have been very reliable and have had zero camshaft failures!

I came very close to buying a new KTM but the “reports” of parts and service challenges drove me back to Honda - which I’m confident I’ll be able to enjoyably ride then easily sell in a few years. What I’m not sure about is the legitimacy of the ubiquitous anti-KTM warnings; are they real or just more internet toxicity?
They are real. Got a 1290 As and a 1290 SDGt. Both got electronic issues because water got into the start button cluster... The bikes would just stop at red lights and not start again until completely dry...
Owned two KTMs, a 690 duke and a 1290 SD R, both were fragile and had various problems. I’m done with them unfortunately, I’m saying unfortunately because I’d love a 1290 GT but don’t trust them anymore.

Never a ktm again, my last one was rattling everywhere and nearly falling apart after only 6000km, felt like a plastic chinese crap bike really fast. No way i would ever powerwash that bike, it would probably never start up again.
I recently bought an RE Interceptor and have taken it on a couple of long trips. Now, I'm looking forward to getting a new KTM 390 Adventure to explore the Himalayas.

I saw the reports about the financial problems at KTM, maybe this is their reaction to it? But honestly, I think they are taking the wrong turn, I like some of KTMs ideas, but what they really need to do imho, is to get their technical problems right, put more effort into QC. When potential buyers joke about your reliability, that's not a good thing. Get that right first. Honda is known to be a boring Brand, but they sell very good, you know why? BC even if a Honda doesn't make you exited, you know you can trust it.

Sorry to spoil your dream but CFMoto which makes the bikes has long solved the cam issue in their version of the 790 engine that they use for their own bikes, same with Kove. It is Austrians that have the problem not the chinese.
