I found you through your cricut/sticker making videos and just binged your channel over the past two days - so so happy to see that you're doing art full time now!! I also love your takes on the instagram algorithm and social media in general, your channel holds so much value and I already learned so much
I definitely prefer painting underglaze on in the greenware stage- it solved a lot of the dragging/streaking problems I had. Depending on how soon you paint your pots after washing them in the bisqueware stage, the water remaining in the pores could be a factor as well? Off gasing of glazes and different temperatures in the kiln can certainly affect the colours of both glazed and unglazed pieces. 😊
For underglazes, definitely allowing each even layer to dry before applying the next helps, and typically you need 2~3 coats (though this depends on the underglazes you are using- if you are using commercial underglazes, they will usually have instructions on the tub/bottle, but making testers is always a good thing, since your type of clay and kiln environment can be different from what the manufacturer has tested). Sometimes, glazes, underglazes, and the clay body are also not the most compatible due to chemical differences, so it could potentially be a result of incompatible chemistry. (Science! 🧐😆)
Thank you so much for the in depth response! I did a few tests painting with underglaze in the greenware stage and those turned out wonderful, but I didn't use the same colors so it's not a 1 to 1 comparison. It's good to hear that it worked for you though and gives me lots of hope! I also noticed that washing them may have affected the absorption rate and will be more mindful of that. Huge huge thank you again for sharing your experience with me! It helps me a lot and I'm going to use what you said for the new items i make in april
I'd gladly take the burnt pug(s) off your hands, hecking cuteeee 🥺💕

Oh thank you so much! It's been a crazy ride but I'm happy to share the journey. Thank you for coming along :D I hope you get to try ceramics one day!
These are adorable, great work!!
Thanks David!
I liked the pots that were not glazed and had a hole in the bottom with feet. All of your work was beautiful.
I'm working on a bunch of new ones this week :D
Great stuff! Take those other peoples pieces out the kiln... Just kidding.
Love seeing the process of pottery making♥️
Thank you!!
