I'm a straight guy and I've started cosmotology school about a week ago and I feel so far behind because I literally know nothing about women's hair (I sometimes cut my guy friends hair) but you saying that you knew barely anything as well makes me a lot more confident that I can do this!

My girlfriend gets her license next week and I'm excited for her.
I’m 19 and about to be a senior in college but honestly I don’t think it’s for me. Your videos have inspired so much to go after my real dream. Last year I toured a beauty school and I think I might sign up in November!

I started today and tbh I have such little knowledge within the whole industry, but the first day was so fun and it was everything I expected!!! And I can’t wait to learn and build my knowledge even more

I always feel self conscious about what time to get to the salon, I always go at least 5 minutes before my appointment, but I always feel bad coming earlier because y’all use that in between time it set up for what ever the appointment is for. So what is a good time to show up to a appointment( also when I go I get highlights, so I don’t know if that matters for what time to show up, but I don’t know)
I feel like most hairdressers would say at the exact time of the appointment. All of our days are different. Sometimes we are running late, sometimes we are ahead of schedule and sometimes we are exactly on time. So in my opinion it’s best to arrive right on time

My hs had cosmetology. I wish I told my parents that the guidance counselor wouldn't let me take it because it was for as he put it "the students that were less quality." People with good grades were not allowed to take it. This was mid 1980s. I taught myself makeup by reading books and watching the cosmetic People in mall, tv and magazines. I don't have clients because I work in another field.

Clients on your first day? Go you! Can you give us info on what kind of salon it is? Commission/hourly/booth rent. If commission, do you get paid hourly when you aren’t with a client, etc.
So as of right now I am doing hourly pay since I just started and don’t have many clients. Once you get a steady amount of clients and your commission is worth more than hourly then we get commission! Girls do rent at this salon but I won’t be for quite some time
