Welcome back, Karen! 🎉 I think I can speak on behalf of all of your UA-cam followers, we missed you! Thank you for sharing your process with this beautiful winter scene!
@ I’ve tried several artist Patreon channels and yours is my favorite for several reasons. Price, content, teaching of general art principles that can carry over into other media, easy to listen to and understand, variety of subjects, and wonderful art.
Karen, I have recently discovered you, also being new at soft pastels ( I work in oils). I have been binge watching your youtube videos, and I can honestly say, you are not only a great artist, but an unbelievably good teacher. Of all the artist I have been watching, you are the best teacher in my opinion. I have already learn so much from you- I love how you use color/ s to make the painting so interesting and beautiful! I am definitely considering to becoming a patreon. THANK you from the bottom of my/ our hearts, and thank you for all your hard work and time. Thank you also for this wonderful new video. 🌻
Thank you, thank you! I didn't realize how much I missed your instruction and techniques. If I were more self motivated I would sign up for your Patreon channel. I have a busy winter and spring and am enrolled in one pastel course, so maybe in the Fall I'll be able to take advantage of your artistic offerings.
Great tutorial- I struggle interpreting seemingly colourless scenes and your choice of warms and cools really helps me learn to see colour. So glad you are back 😀
Thank you so much for this video! Your narration along with your painting are always very helpful. You break pastel painting down into workable steps. And its so amazing and inspiring to see the results you get!
It's been too long!!! I missed you!!! If you can't do a video every week, do one every other week!!! I'm glad you are back! The painting turned out great as always!👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Missed seeing you. I've been doing winter pictures too and really enjoyed seeing what you suggest. So much more colour in the snow than I have been using. Like it.
After catching up with your great video on Antarctica (penguins!) on patreon this morning I found this demo on my youtube feed so today is double the fun in pastels. I discovered your patreon here on youtube a couple of years ago and it has been a wonderful addition to my pastel journey. The community there is also very welcoming and non-judgmental. Glad to see your excellent instruction anywhere, anytime! (maya)
Karen , thank you for the fresh new lesson. I loved it. What is your policy on artists posting their versions of your tutorials on social media? Not at all or okay if we give you full recognition?
Thank you for watching! I appreciate you asking about posting work from my demos. Feel free to post your version with credit to me. I would love for you to share a link to the demo!

Thank you! Thanks for watching!
I love winter but struggle to indicate bare trees. Thank you
You're welcome! I hope the video helped!
Beautiful. Wondering why you chose to use a charcoal tick rather than a hard pastel or a pastel pencil. Thank you.
Thank you! I like how thin this charcoal stick is but a hard pastel would do great as well!
