BATH:
Bath is an historic Roman and Georgian spa city. This a World Heritage Site, is 100 mi west of London and 15 miles southeast of the nearest big city, Bristol. Set in the rolling Somerset countryside on the southern edge of the Cotswolds, Bath offers a diverse range of attractions for its 4.4 million visitors each year: restaurants, theatres, cinemas, pubs and nightclubs, along with interesting museums, and a wide range of guided tours.
Bath is guaranteed to delight. iconic visitor attractions such as Stonehenge and Longleat Safari Park, great boutique shopping, fantastic nightlife, fabulous festivals and a remarkable range of restaurants, bars and cafés.
English Food:
British cuisine has been described as "unfussy dishes made with quality local ingredients, matched with simple sauces to accentuate flavour, rather than disguise it".[1] However, British cuisine has absorbed the cultural influence of those who have settled in Britain, producing many hybrid dishes, such as the Anglo-Indian chicken tikka masala. Among the many amazing traditional British dishes we can find the famous Fish & chips, Bacon Sandwich, Sunday roast, full English breakfast, and simpler food, such as the famous pastries, and more. British tea is known worldwide and British beer is becoming more and more popular. Overall, British food has a lot to offer, and Bath seemed to be one of the best places to experience it all.

'They kind of look like a pastry but they have savoury fillings.' WOW. Imagine coming from a country where there isn't a pasty shop on every street in every town in the land. Unfathomable!
Loved your video. It’s nice to see tourists come over to England and give their opinions on our lifestyle, culture & the food we eat. You seem like a very nice couple and that made watching your video so enjoyable to watch. Lived in England all my life and never been to Bath. I must go and visit soon. Thank you.
Neil thanks for the kind words. We're glad you enjoyed the video. We love hearing this kind of feedback :D Now.. you have to get yourself to Bath! - T
We've had the absolute best time in Bath and an even more amazing time learning about British food. Let us know what to try next time! We probably missed a lot of popular dishes! 😆If you want to see us eat more food in England go here ua-cam.com/video/ZoQlWpk_Deo/v-deo.html . Also don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to our channel for more travel adventures. bit.ly/1WloEdL
Thanks for watching everyone! - Anna & Trevor
The British food is so delicious and you showed it in a tasteful manner. That AirBnB place looks great! We missed Bath when we visited this part of England, worth to go back to.
Thanks guys! The AirBnB was perfect. Great location. Bath is definitely a good reason to back to this part of England yes! :) - T
you guys do a great job presenting your location, the attractions and the food...well done!
Thanks Taki. We really appreciate that. We have a lot more on the way so keep an eye out. - T
Bath is a really beautiful place especially when the sun is out ! Conversely the Christmas market, especially in the evenings, is magical and you can go into the Abbey for their short Carol service even if it's just to listen they make you feel welcome.
We just missed the Christmas markets. Wish we had more time. We think we'll go back again next year and do more of the English countryside / towns. It's all so amazing! Thanks for watching - T
Awww you two are adorable, so glad you enjoyed your trip to the motherland. Lots of love from back here in the UK !
That was nicely understated and fun.
cornish pasties, where made for the miners in cornwall they would spend hours under ground so they had to have hearty food. some variation had sweet on one side it was an entire meal in a portable unit.
Thanks for letting us know. And thanks for watching. - Anna
Greenwood4727 .... The savoury/sweet version of the pasty is actually specific to Bedfordshire where I live. It is known as the Bedfordshire Clanger and is shaped more like a large sausage roll rather than the traditional crescent shape of the Cornish pasty. It has a line of pastry halfway along the inside to separate the savoury filling from the sweet filling.
The pasty’s look all so delicious! The pudding wow so want to try! Great video! How did we miss these! 😊
Great video guys makes me proud that your having a great time in my country . Many thanks :)
We had so much fun in your country Stuart. So much that we're hoping to come back again soon. Thx for watching. - Trevor
Im glad you did this video, My kids and I are getting ready to go at Christmas time over to England and a few other countries. I could have kept on watching if there was more, very helpful.thanks
Thanks! We do have a few more recent England (specifically London) videos. If you get a chance watch those as well. Maybe it will help with some trip planning. :) - Trevor
Loved watching your video, the sticky toffee pudding looked yummy, hope you do more videos like this, glad you liked Bath.
Thanks Susie! That pudding was incredible. I've not had something like that before. We usually have some kind of food in all our videos but we focused on it a little more in this one. Maybe we'll do more like this next year. - T
It looks like a really nice place to visit!, thx for sharing :)
Why's the bacon on like ciabatta?! You should have had it on sliced bread or a roll, it also should have hp brown sauce or ketchup! 😄
You'll have to ask the cafe that one. I wouldn't know. It was absolutely delicious though. I'll have to track down this brown sauce at some point. No thanks to ketchup on it :D - T
If you want a bacon sandwich with a little extra then go for a BLT (bacon, lettuce & tomato)
I've had plenty of those before. They are also great! - Trevor
Get your bacon butty on a teakake (breadcake bap bun etc.)
Brown sauce is HP sauce, standing for Houses of Parliament. The Frogs reckon the Brits have only ever invented three sauces, custard, HP and Worcestershire sauce, although it has to be said, we nicked the latter two from Indian recipes. So to sum up, we've invented only one but if you're only going to ever taste one sauce in your life, then do the best in history, CUSTARD!! And sod the Frogs.
What an enjoyable video. Thanks very much. I do hope it was as enjoyable for you as you made it look! Bath is a lovely little city with many good bars and restaurants. Just around the corner from The Raven on Quiet Street is a decent curry house, The Eastern Eye. Certainly worth a try if you get the munchies.
I remember seeing The Eastern Eye actually. Next time we'll try there. Thanks for watching Danny. We really did enjoy our time in Bath and of course ...the food! - T
Loved the video guys
Thx! Hope you weren't too hungry watching that Effie! 🤣 - Anna
I'm always baffled as to why we Brits politically link to the states when we share so much more with Canada
It's the same for us here in Canada as well. We share so much more in common with the Brits. But we do luv our neighbours in the south. We've met so many amazing people from the US. - T
Delightful Travellers thank you for taking time to reply, hope you enjoyed your stay here, and cheese on a bacon buttie? That's sooooo wrong :) have a great day!
A lot of it is due to World War 2 I think.
Chris Wilson i suspect your right mate, along with the power of the US but of course, Canada was massively involved in both WW1and 2. Cheers mate
Canada is just like America but with common sense.
That was not a traditional bacon sandwich. No brown sauce? And it should be between 2 slices of white bread. Not a crusty roll. Sacrilege lol
We keep hearing about this brown sauce. Clearly we have to track it down next time. Thanks for watching MV! - Trevor
If you like a strong tasting flavour go for brown sauce but not for everyone
Have to say, I agree about the white sliced bread instead of the crusty roll, I'd never have bought it, lol, too posh for me. ;-) I don't like brown sauce.
Brown sauce is a strong flavour brown or red is good with bacon. But not the crusty roll. I enjoyed your video though and have subscribed. 👍
HP brown sauce is available in Canada every where !
Winter food is what Brits do best. Glad you enjoyed it!
I think that circle was featured in the classic musical Oliver. " who will by my sweet red roses"
Great video guys, one of the best and most 'respectful' of the 'trying English food' ones I've seen. Glad you went to The Raven to try a pie, but not getting why they serve d it on top of the mashed potato, that'll give the pie a 'soggy bottom' for sure, lol. Also glad that at least one of you tried the traditional Cornish Pasty. They usually contain swede too, I'm sure yours did.
Thanks Helene! And good to know the Raven is a go to place. We're already missing those Pastys. Yum! Thanks for watching - T
I dont think u said but cornish pasty s where made in cornwall for man in the mines, so there needed alot of energy (that's why it's hardy). And the thick bit of crust on the outside is the handle so they don't get the food dirty.
Come and visit the lake district.. especially for the views at this time of year
We've heard the lake district is amazing. Our friends (the Endless Adventure) couldn't say enough good things about the place. They also have some killer vlogs on it. - T
Delightful Travellers the lakes are amazing but carry a backpack with alternative clothes in when out and about. 1 minute you are rubbing sun lotion in,the next you are running for cover, and there's no cover up in the hills lol
If you go to the lake district, pop to cartmel which is famous for the best sticky toffee pudding in the country.
My favourite place.
Hi there, we've been enjoying watching this. We film natural sight and sound walks in soulful cities and have just filmed Bath, so it's lovely to see your viewpoint, thank you for taking the time to add it.
Glad you enjoyed it LW. Thanks for watching
Bath is a beautiful place. I remember when I went to visit the Roman Baths; I stood up out of my wheelchair and went near to the edge when all of a sudden a little boy walking past me nearly knocking me flying into the water!
As always, great video and really enjoyed seeing you try some of our traditional food 😊
Yikes.. thankfully you didn't fall in. Katie thanks for your comment as well. We wouldn't know you are watching otherwise. Also.. there is so much more to come. Portugal is up next :) - T
Bath is beautiful. We only did a quick drive through last time we were there. We definitely need to stay longer next time. Nice vid!
Thanks for watching! It's so beautiful right? Next time you should stay longer :) - T
Great video. I live in London and it's refreshing to see a video where something other than fish and chips is tried. Great call in the sticky toffee pudding. It looked like a huge portion though which isn't that normal for such a rich dessert. The only criticism I have is that the bacon sandwich was on ciabatta I think which is obviously an Italian bread and not standard. The cafe obviously used that to "posh" it up a bit 😀
Thanks for your comment and for watching Fin. We didn't make the sandwich ;)... but we loved it either way. A take on an old tradition is a good thing sometimes. - Trevor
I had reservations about another food n travel vlog, but this was nice and simply done.
May I ask the name of the restaurant/pub you dined at featured in your main meal clip?
That pub was called The Raven. It's right in the middle of the city. Great spot as you can see. Get the pudding and thanks for watching - Trevor 😆
That food looks great and I’ve eaten it all a thousand times!
Awesome. I'm from Bath and this was great :)
Thanks JN. We're glad you enjoyed it! :)
Glad you had a great time in our city, hope you come back one day. Next time try hiring a small rowing boat and get yourself on the river Avon.
We may come back next year and explore more of England actually. A row boat is a great idea as well! Thanks for watching. - A
I’m English and love going bath. Looooooooovely place with really old history.
In the UK, pudding is hot, if it's cold it's dessert. I have no idea why.
Mr Surname great to know. I wonder why that is though? Haha. Thx for watching - Anna
Bath is a wonderful city, haven't been for years.....and the mineral water tastes nice, bit like an aspirin ! Yum yum.
Surely you didn't miss the real British traditional fish and chips?
haha.. well we opted to go for things we can't quite get here in Canada. We're from the east coast here (right on the ocean). You can't walk down the street without finding fish & chips ;) . - T
Delightful Travellers I just ate a cheese and onion pasty and thought of you guys :-)
Hopefully you at least saved us some 😋 - Trevor
Delightful Travellers ill send it :-)
I live in the UK and have never visited bath, i will one day hopefully. Britain has so many beautiful places, we just need the weather, , if we got loads of sun this island would sink under the weight of tourists. Glad you enjoyed your visit. Next time instead of a bacon sandwich go for the full english breakfast.
Try to go back in the summer and go around the cycle path that circles the city (Two Tunnel cycle path?) There's many great pubs along the path, perfect for a cider crawl and a ploughmans!
Luv this comment. We'll so take your advice on what to do when we return. Thanks for watching Thomas 😃- Anna
James Coburn (the actor) used to visit the spas in Bath for his Arthritis.
Very interesting fact. Didn't know that one. Thx for watching :) - Trevor
It looks like a really nice place to visit!
Bath is great. The city itself is superb.. just like the food :D - T
If you want the best Cornish pasties you need to visit Philps bakery in Cornwall, there's quite a few of them dotted around. I ate three in one day, they were so good.
I think it's safe to say we need to make it up to Cornwall at some point. Yum! - Trevor
Pies and pasties were hearty for a reason: they were the ultimate packed lunch for farmers and factory workers, something you would eat with your hands.
No complaints from us. Those things are tasty - Anna
Nice videos, guys! Hope you can do more North America trip.
The Raven pub used to be called Hatchett's and was a biker/rock/metal pub before it became the gastro pub that it is now! When I lived in Bath I used to go to Hatchett's all the time. ;-)
You gotta come to Newcastle upon Tyne ane try a Ham and Peas pudding Stottie cake.
Will do. Next time we'll be trying to hit up more towns and areas.. - T
Great video guys, bath is one of my favourite cities, but I'm probably bias as I am a Bristolian with bathonian relatives. I am a little surprised no one told you to sample the one dish that bath is internationally unique for " Sally Lun, the bath Bun" Definitely one for next time.
Thank you for showing the true England, staying calm and giving the facts. take note US dudes and dudettes!
You're very welcome. You have to stay calm when you eat all that amazing food! - T
Oh and also - re the Crescent - the end property is a museum you can go in and see what it was like in the time that it was built, and what life was like during that time. Very interesting and well worth a visit!! :D
Oooo good to know. We'll be back someday so we'll check that out for sure. - Trevor
Can’t believe you had pie and pasty...in the same day and missed fish and chips!! My Canadian cousin called custard yellow guk when she came here!!
Great tour. Grew up on the outskirts of Bath. Re' your food your, can't believe you missed Sally Lunns! You were mere yards from it too. Oldest eating house in Bath and home of the Bath Bun (precursor to what Americans call 'English Muffins').
Now we know where to go next time then! Thanks for the tip. There's no way we could have eaten any more on this day. 😂 - Trevor
Sticky toffee can be done differently in different places. Sometimes a toffee sauce instead of custard served with ice cream
The weather makes for hearty dishes. I love a nice salad but can understand why they're more dishes of Italy or France as only really feel like eating them 2months a year. Cool review. Happy travelling x
Hear ya on the weather / dishes. I'm glad we don't live in England.. we'd eat that hearty delicious stuff everyday. Salads wouldn't exist to us. ;) Thanks for watching - A
I live in England and I love the food here. I hope u had a good time. 😃
Maybe we have to go there next then!? - T
The traditional pasty as you called it is the "Cornish pasty" comes from cornwall. Originally invented by miners who had to figure some way of eating food in a soot filled mine, so they made the pasties with a huge crust that they could hold onto and eat the rest so they dont get there dirty hands all on the food. The more you know...
Thanks Bruv. We knew the basics on that fact but now we know even more. We appreciate you watching. - Anna
And it's pronounced paaaasty innum. A proper one is made with skirt of beef, sliced (not diced) potatoes and swede. There is some debate whether the crimp should be on the top or the side...
Bath is my home city. Everybody's welcome here, were pleased to see you.
... if you're spending money. Otherwise its a white flight vilage were they are definately not all pleased to see you
syrup sponge and custard is even better than sticky toffee pudding!
Good to know! It's going on the list for next time. - Anna
Not sure if any of the places that you ate ar was Sally Lunns but that is a very famous little restaurant famous for its huge buns....delicious!
We missed that one but it sounds delicious. We clearly need to go back and do a part 2 video it seems. Thanks for watching Susan. :) - Anna
Roast beef ( horse radish sauce), roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, veg and gravy a must next time. Also, of course, fish and chips.
Hiya, this Welshman doesn't refer to the sweet meal that follows a main dish as "pudding" but as "afters".
Yeah! U mentioned that u guys just came back from the U.K and I am seing here the video of you being in Bath. I been there, too bad I missed you cos I live close to Bath, in Oxford is 30 mns by train and Oxford is an amazing city worth to visit!
Next time we're there we are going to try to get to Oxford for sure. We almost went this time. We just ran out of time. - T
pasties were eaten by cornish tin miners in years gone by. half of it was savoury and the other half was sweet.
the thicker part of the crust was used to hold it as miners hamds were always dirty, they would typically throw that bit away
Excellent video. Thank you. As a Yorkshireman I must say that you tried 5 of my favourites but you missed my other 3 "perfect" meals :- Fish and chips with mushy peas. Full English Breakfast that must include Black Pudding then finally a full Roast Beef dinner that must include Yorkshire Pudding. Glad you enjoyed your visit but please come further north next time - great countryside, great people and great food (especially in Yorkshire lol).
Woohoo.. sounds like we did a pretty good job. Fish and chips are very popular in our part of Canada so we thought we'd skip that one. We had a full Irish Breakfast in Dublin which had that pudding you mentioned. We'll be going through the countryside next time we're back for sure! - Trevor
Awsome video.
In bath you should try Gem ale in the local pub😋
We'll have to look for that. Thx - Anna
I love sticky toffee pudding with lots of custard yummy
You have some constitution ! Bacon buttie , pasty , pie n mash , sticky toffee all by lunchtime ?? I doff my hat to you both 😋😎👍
It looks like the place you were looking at usually goes for about 1/2 a million £.
Woh.. safe to say we didn't buy it ;) - T
It is pastry savoury pastry & and yes that is potato in that pasty
Great video, like your style, so I've just subscribed👍👍 There are so many English Dishes for you to try from different regions, you'd have to be here for at least 6 months and you'd probably still miss many as most county's are known for specific dishes, or have a dish that is linked to that area, the one you'll get everywhere is of course Fish&Chip's and because they are everywhere some are excellent some will be good and others well not so much, though that could be more noticeable to a British person as you get use to the way food is cooked where you live. I'm originally from the West Midlands Birmingham area, I now live in West Yorkshire and to me there is a difference between the fish&chip's of the Midlands and where I now live, not a bad difference just different. As you come from Canada that may not be as noticeable unless you eat fish&chip's everywhere you go, if you did that with all the other food you'll be trying I think you could be going home somewhat heavier that when you arrived 😊😊😊 If you're back home which I imagine you are with it being Christmas and all, I hope you enjoyed your time here and that you plan on coming back to see more of this Great Country and try more of our fantastic yummy food.
Wishing you A Merry Christmas And A Happy New Year 🎄❄🎅🎄❄🎅🎄❄🎅🎄❄🎅🎄❄🎅🎄❄🎅
We'd luv to come back and explore all the regions there. We'd need a lot more time to do that of course. I get what you're saying how somethings taste different in various towns as well. That's the same thing here too. We are back home for the holidays now too. Happy holidays and thanks for watching. :) - T
Such a refreshing change to see people trying British cuisine and not slating it! Have to agree with other commenters that you didn’t try a traditional bacon sarnie - usually served in white bread or a bread roll/bap. I don’t like any sauce on mine but red sauce (ketchup) or brown sauce is often offered.
If you are visiting again you must go to Norwich - my home City. Beautiful place not often visited because the transport links aren’t great (no motorways) but rail travel is pretty cheap from London (£10 single in advance) - I’m biased but it is the most magical place in England.
Thanks Charlotte. The cafe we got the sandwich at seemed to have their own take on it. Whatever the bread, I can tell you that it was amazing. It didn't even need sauce, but I would like to try this mysterious brown sauce I keep hearing about - Trevor
Colemans English mustard in a bacon roll. Try it.
We eat hearty food in the UK and most northern European countries because of our climate it's can be very cold and rain a lot so we need warm hot hearty food
Nice video guys
Glad you enjoyed it Louie. :) - Anna
Do they still use the baths? Water looked kind of greenish.
No they don't. Actually you're not allowed to even touch the water. The water is very green yes. - T
Those are the Roman baths. There is a separate modern spa with a rooftop pool.
Good to know!
If you go into the cafe within the baths you can taste the spring water which feeds them, fresh on the bar and still warm. Mind you, it's disgusting. I've tasted better cough medicine.
So much hearty food in the UK. Steak and ale pie is pretty good.
Sounds like we'll have to go back and try that out Peter! - Trevor
Bath is a wonderful place, though I have not visited there for a number of years (and yes I am British) Sincerely hope you have a wonderful time in the UK
We're having a blast. We'd really like to come back and explore more of it next year. Maybe we will. - Anna
P.S: Really nice to see American tourists here again too. Growing up your heat many American accents in Bath over the summer but that drastically dropped off post 911. Nice to see them coming back, even a few Japanese visiting again too.
We're Canadians! ...eh!! 😉🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
haha thanks. We can't tell you guys apart from Scotland either .. 😉. We were very close to going to Bristol, we just ran out of time. We're planning to come back to England again soon. We're looking forward to having you follow our journey. Croatia vlogs are up now! - Trevor
You can put tomato sauce or brown sauce on bacon sarnies.
Of course we can :)
As a "Bath Bun" (someone who was born in Bath), it was nice to see the City through the eyes of someone else. In the 60's & 70's when I was a child growing up in Bath, if you were a resident you could swim in the Roman Bath on special occasions. This was until someone died after contracting water borne meningitis from the bath. Anyway thank you for your kind comments on the beautiful City of Bath. :-)
Thanks so much Simon. We're just glad we did your city right through your eyes. We really had a great time eating our way through the city. Yum! - Anna
We only refer to desert as pudding if it is actually a pudding. Other types of desert are refered to as desert. Puddings can be savory as well. ie steak and kidney pudding.
Good to know. Thanks for watching FM. Glad you enjoyed it. - Anna
Really enjoyed seeing the UK from your prospective, keep it up.
Aww thanks!
Pasties.....were traditionally the 'work food' of cornish tin miners......their hands would be dirty from working the mines so they would hold the pastie with that thick side crust and then discard it after eating the best bits.
That STP looked more like a steamed sponge pudding with custard , should be more toffee coloured .
But it was delicious! That custard!!!! I'll take it any day. ;) - Trevor
For devotees of useless infomation - the diameter of The Circus is the same as that of the outer circle of Stonehenge.
I think that's such great information Jonathan. Why is that? Coincidence maybe? - Trevor
There was a programme on BBC2 or BBC4 a few years ago about that part of Bath, there's a lot of Masonic symbolism there, symbols on the buildings, the fact that an aerial view of The Circus, Gay St. and Queen Square depicts the shape of a key, there's a lot more to Bath than the usual touristy stuff!
We do say dessert but a pudding usaly steamed
Pretty sure that bacon sandwich was on a ciabatta which is Italian you needed a breadcake, also I think why most of our food is "hearty" is because it's cold an wet 75% of the time 🤣🤣
Ah thanks for letting us know. The sandwich was still legit. Loved it! - T
What often confuses Americans in particular is when they order a cheese/bacon/ ham or w.h.y. sandwich, they get just that two pieces of bread with the subject filling - no compost heap of limp lettuce, cucumber (pickled or otherwise) tomato, etc.
We're Canadian 🇨🇦- Trevor
A bacon sandwich/buttie/roll, with the right bacon and the right bread needs no additions.
Best is well cooked but not overly crispy bacon, a lightly toasted roll/bun or slices of bread, proper butter and then plenty of that lovely bacon, then enjoy. You can add ketchup or brown sauce but I'll leave that to you, it can get a little divisive about what you put on it.
Pudding while often referred to for dessert, pudding can also be a steamed pie either sweet or savoury. Sticky toffee pudding would traditionally be a steamed sponge that is served with a toffee sauce poured over and then served. Great with regular cream, ice cream of custard. Invariably these days the sponge is baked, sauce poured on either before or after serving.
Thanks for all the info Sven. I hope you enjoyed the video and we apologize if you're now hungry ;) - Anna
yes dont forget fish n chips and dont foget the northwest and full english beakfast with black pudding good videoe
All on the list for next time! Thanks for watching - Anna
The first sandwich fits you well its like going to timmy hoes! Your just missing the double double! hahaha
hahah.. this one was a little better. By that, I mean a lot 😂 . - Trevor
English/British food is definitely not diet-friendly. But that pie at 5:40 looks amazing - can anyone tell me where it was from, because I live near Bath and I want to eat that piiieee!!!!
We gained 5lbs on this day alone .. lol 😉 The place with the great pie is called The Raven. Enjoy! - Trevor
omg I love the Cornish bakery
I'd probably eat there everyday if I lived in Bath :) -T
Hi guys like your video please come to wales next time you'l get a big welcom from the welsh. Hello from anglesey north wales. Mon mam cymru.
Tony we would love to get to Wales. We're talking about doing another trip over to the UK again. Wales will be on the list! - T
Sandwiches were invented by the Earl of Sandwich here in England whilst he was gambling I believe. He asked for some meat and some bread and he put the meat in the bread and it was named a sandwich after him.
For an authentic bacon sandwich in the UK you really need soft white sliced bread, butter and tomato ketchup :)
We'll try to track that down next time we're in the UK! Thanks for watching - Trevor
Buy it from an establishment that has wheels and can be towed behind a car.
It's in a bowl full of ....what? That's Custard mate! or Creme Anglais if you are French (you know it's good when the French adopt your food despite centuries of conflict) :-)
Great video by the way. I'm a Brit but I've neer been to Bath, it looks gorgeous.
Glad you liked the video. We have a few more on the channel as well and another coming this Sunday on Italian food. :D Yum! - Trevor
Hi do you remember what your B&B was called
It's linked in the description :) bshl.evokeu.com/ - Anna
Actually maybe it's not on their site anymore. Hmm.. I can't find it.
Well done, you picked proper local traditional food and ate it hot on a cold day, just right. We locals usually add some sauce (HP brown or tomato ketchup) to our bacon sandwich... if you wanted an egg or cheese all you had to do was ask. I prefer a sausage or best of all a bacon, egg and sausage sandwich.. British sausages are the best.
Next try a bakery for a range of buns (the Bath Bun first) a Chelsea Bun, Custard or cream slice, Caramel shortbread... ask what is their best and they will be pleased as Punch to show you. Then to a real ale pub for a selection of ales (1/2 pint at a time), watch the Vol% alcohol though, some of them are deceptively strong.
Bacon and mushrooms for me, no sauce, or just crispy bacon. Has to be white bread though for a bacon sarnie!
Robin thanks for the great reply. I definitely didn't want an egg. I wanted that sandwich to be 'local proper'. I've heard of this brown sauce as well. Next time we're back I'm tracking this down. I've also noticed those strong ales you mentioned. They are delicious but I couldn't have too many of them. Thanks so much for watching! 😀 - Trevor
Helene this also sounds amazing. I could of snuck some mushrooms on there. Now I'm starving again! - T
Robin Spencer ... just to be pedantic, a Cornish pasty isn't 'local' to Bath. ;-)
@@DelightfulTravellers Pleased to see that "could of" is not just a UK failing, as it drives me mental!....
Actually Bath's a bit smaller than 100,000. It has a population of just over 88,000.
I adore watching American/Canadians react to the ways of England - they are like naive children.
Mars bars in batter like the fish in scotland
Ohhhh.. that sounds really really good. Yum. - Anna
Mmm. Pasties. I make these at home (you can't get a good pasty in Toronto).
Are they difficult to make? We're already craving them again - Anna
