I remember in grade 9 I once wrote a whole essay with a LOT of interspersed backwards words and letters. I procrastinated on doing the essay till the last day and it took me hours. I finished late in the evening and gave it to my mom to proof. She asked me if I saw any mistakes and for the life of me it looked perfect. She said the only way she could read it was to hold it up to a mirror. I broke down and sobbed because I was too exhausted to write it again. I opted to turn it in as is, and asked the teacher if I might have some more time. My niece also mirror writes regularly. Strangly enough, I taught myself to read and became a very adept reader who tested high for reading comprehension. Reading is still difficult if I am tired and I will often speak backwards. It sometimes comes off sounding like old English. Lol
In school, people often praised my intelligence, but I didn't believe them because my grades were terrible, especially when it came to grammar and reading comprehension. It got to the point where I would cheat on reading assignments rather than trying to read the books themselves. I was seen as "bright but lazy", and when I tried asking for help, I was ignored. I ended up dropping out of school when I was old enough because it caused me too much stress. I wasn't diagnosed with dyslexia until I was an adult. Not only do I struggle with reading, I struggle with differentiating sounds, sequencing, directions, etc.

Long story short, i was fed up with the college I was attending, so I took them to the Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission in Melbourne. My complaint was handled professionally by that organisation, except for one person. She was always passive-aggressive with me. In the end, I discovered that she was sceptical I had dyslexia, or that dyslexia even existed. She was so bad, I end up making a complaint about her too. So the moral of the story is, even in institutions where people are meant to respect and look out for your specific disability, people will still discriminate against dyslexics.
One question. If the writing backwards thing is a myth, What would be the reason for my daughter writing numbers backwards. She doesnt get her letters backwards very often except for the occasional b and d, but her numbers are usually backwards despite me correcting her.
They explain it here, dyslexics can mix up the direction of letters (and numbers) but people think we write entirely backwards. We don’t, we just get the direction of some symbols jumbled.
I have a question is it possible for a person to develop dyslexia due to Post traumatic stress out? Like watching his/her parents get shot in front of him/her.
Not PTSD, it’s been seen in brain injuries on occasion but not from trauma. It’s likely PTSD caused issues with focus and memory, focus can be associated with both dyslexia and ADHD but dyslexia isn’t just focus or memory.

The one I always get “colour overlays”, can we just STOP calling Irlen syndrome “visual dyslexia” it’s infuriating and completely inaccurate.
