The best tip is using a structure. Although trying to tie it into a theme for the college app is still tricky. My advisor definitely helped me get rid of random stuff in my essay and tie it back to my supplements, activities, and everything else.

I realized that it’s because I jumped to the word-vomit stage without writing down my values + bullets, or establishing a structure. It depends on the essay you are writing, they usually state the word count! I usually filled up to around the word count.
