Biggest change is better fuel economy. I was actually buying the 2023 model last week and discovered the 2024 one and said that I'll wait for it. The dealer was disappointed, he didn't make a sale. I'm waiting for the color lines but this blue is dope and front grill black nice
Every SUV should be offered like this. I despise 3rd row seats, but didn't want a compact SUV. That really narrowed my options when searching for a new vehicle. It seems like a fairly easy option for manufacturers to add and I am sure there are many people like me who would love to have the size without the seats in the way or the wasted room and crevices when they are folded down.
This Cross Sport looks fantastic! I know Volkswagen has historically had reliability issues, but this redesign might make me look past that. Back in 2004, we bought a fully loaded Passat and I felt like we took the dealership for a ride as that car looked, drove and accessorized like it should have cost at least $10,000 more than what we paid. It did have some issues pretty early on, but I drove that car until parts literally started to fall off. Which was about 140,000 miles. I will be in the market in the next couple of years and I've been eyeing the Arteon, but this Cross Sport just leap frogged it.
Modern VW's are def not unreliable. On my second VW after numerous friends suggested it. Have a 2013 passat, runs like gold and acquired a 2018 atlas little under 2 years ago. As long as you keep up with maintenance, any modern VW is 👌🏾
@@juniormeyer27 fyi, the problems we experienced early on had nothing to do with maintenance and everything to do with the quality out of the factory. One had to do with the driver side seat heater, which ended up being a recall and the other was the motor for the sunroof. Other than that, the car ran like a dream.
I had a 2007 VW Passat with the 2.0T engine, but it required premium fuel which is so much more costly, plus it got rather poor fuel mileage, and then it had a mechanical engine issue that cost plenty to fix, so definitely a poor choice for me when I bought it used at a non-VW dealership.

Finally! A place to put my purse! Thanks VW! Nice to see manufacturers adding these in (I believe Acura does this as well). I caught a spy cam pic of the 2024 Audi Q5 center console and it looks like they are headed in the direction of the one shown here.. Thank you Joe and Lori for another great review! Let's see how you feel when you're "on throttle"!😎
Ya know if I saw this 2 days ago it just might have convinced me from going with the 2023 Honda CRV Sport Touring... curious to see where an R-line AWD price point lands... as well as if there's improved reliability with the new motor setup
I've been waiting since Feb. for the 2024 to come out!!! I'm in love with this model and the dealership has contacted me this week about ordering the color I want! I'm excited and have been told that the 2024's will hit the car lots here in Texas around mid July to early Aug.

If you go by number of views, then that Toyota Grand Highlander is the best midsize. Side note - best time to go shopping, during a championship game. LoL
The biggest complaint is the soft rear springs. I put 150 pounds on my back and it looks floppy. I scrape with my aftermarket tow receiver, it gets so low. It's a sign of equity. If you have cheap suspension, a soft spring is the remedy.
@RaitisRides prior model VW Atlas's came with cheaply done interiors with hard plastic and pleather seats. This is tempting, and I'm in the market for a new car.
Love my ‘22 Cross Sport Redline. They’ve done everything with this model that I wish I had! Larger screen. Nicer looking interior! Wish they would of nixed the shiny plastic though. Mine scratched immediately and it always looks terrible with smudges and dust! Also wish they had the Redline logo on the side like the full size Atlas. I don’t know where he comes up with a price of $35,000. Mine was $60,000 all said and done. This blue is sharp. I have the oryx white pearl. It is a beautiful car when it’s all cleaned up.
The deleted 3rd zone controls in the back of the Cross Sport is a major ZONK for us, but we’re still going to buy one exactly like this. Exceptional job you guys - as always!
I own a 2023 Atlas. v6 with tech. Its transmission needs a serious upgrade in programming. Gearing is terrible for the off the line acceleration unless you are in sport mod. I also do not like that the 2.0 engine must have 91 octane.
I've been through 2 Jettas and I enjoyed them both, especially due to the fact that they felt well built and heavy...it made me feel safe. Also love the way VW designs their vehicles, especially the Atlas...such a sexy looking vehicle. A bit pricey but you can see the worth.
I think gloss black looks terrific on the outside of the vehicle. I know you always say you are not a fan but I disagree. I believe the gloss black makes the paint color pop a lot more than if it were satin or flat. On the inside of the car, that’s a different story. I don’t like it on the inside at all. Thanks for your dedication to all your content. Thanks to Lori also.
I love this car... I have a leased 2021 Honda Passport, and this has it beat hands down for both exterior and interior looks, space and I'll bet driving agility.
Ford is doing the whole daytime running light bar that extends all the way across the grill too. I wonder who came up with it first Ford or Volkswagen?
Not bad. I would love if the fender edges were painted and part of the actual fender instead of that cheap plastic. Don't know why they shortened the vehicle just delete the stupid 3rd row. A V6 option is definitely needed along with functional exhaust tips.
Would 100% switch from my leased 23 Tiguan R Line to one of the new Atlas Cross Sport Trims (probably the SE w/technology) IF it had better fuel economy... Wish we got some type of hybrid over here in the US. They should really be aiming for 30mpg at a minimum.
I really like the changes VW is bringing ,but they’re not slick they basically gave us the Chinese spec VW Atlas/Teramont from a few years ago but better late then never cool review 💯
Beautiful color and love the ugraded interior. I have a 2021 Subaru so I'm used to all the infotainment controls in the touch screen (even though I don't care for them there).

Thanks for all the information you provide in your videos. I always watch them. You always mention about the leather at the back of the front seats when you show the second or 3rd rows. Just so you know, the back of the seats is NOT leather; they use the matching vinyl for it due to cost. In other words, anything that you normally touch on the seat (when you are seated or course) is leather. Anything else, like the side panels of the seats and the back; that material is always vinyl in all cars / all brands, unless of course you are talking about Bentley or Aston Martin or any of those exotic cars, then they use leather. All the rest of the vehicles use vinyl on those areas,
The super *black gloss plastic trim* on places people touch the most like the *steering wheel* and *center console* are a big zonk. Then touchscreen without any knobs especially the volume control are a let down. This won’t work for someone with OCD. Also the fake exhaust tips are dumb, could’ve looked better with real pipes. The purse/wallet, umbrella, tissue holder cut-out under the center console is genius!
Nice review. Thanks. I think it’s lamentable that the formidable VR6 engine is no more, at least in the US. I suppose the 2.0t on paper is an improvement, nearly as powerful and better fuel economy. However, unless they’ve made changes I suppose 60k miles later it’d be plagued by the carbon buildup issue. I have two vehicles with a VR6, a 2014 CC and a 2017 Touareg so I pay attention to the internet chatter about related issues. And there’s not a lot. Even though the VR6 also has direct injection but nobody ever mentions any carbon issues. I wish they could bring the current Touareg to the US. Now that’d be a real premium vehicle. But I know, it’s just too premium for VW’s strategy for North America.
This is the Prettiest VW Atlas Cross Sport model ever. Real Nice SUV and a Great Video as always. This also has my minimum for Infotainment screen. Has to be 12 inches of Goodness or Larger to get me to make a purchase. Touch only is a Zonk. And every Vehicle needs Wireless car charging and Panoramic Moonroof. This looks looks kind of cool. A little wide for my taste though. Big zonks for all that exterior chrome & piano black. It’s almost giving me 90s Ford Explorer vibes.
Big mistake to remove the VR6. Volkswagen has been chopping down the menu for years including removing the V8 along with the Touareg. They could offer a V8 in the Atlas to attract new buyers to the brand. I’m a V8 Touareg owner and want to purchase a New Touareg. Why not offer the Flexibility to buyers to purchase the flagship Touareg 😡 I’m concerned about Volkswagen in a major way as they continue to not provide their loyal customers the option to purchase what they want. Volkswagen is loosing their core values for the North American market and are in serious trouble. Concerned loyal customer 😒
I like the new redesign from the Atlas Cross Sport and Atlas! I may be on the market for new SUV in 2024. But reliability issues has me towards leasing only. 😅😊.
WTH is with the tiny knob shifter....should have just made it buttons like the Accord hybrid instead...no volume physical knobs....whyyyy... The haptic steering wheel buttons why.... physical button would be great. I hate that they integrate everything into the infotainment system. Many manufacturers are doing that and it's annoying
I think the Atlas is honestly the best looking VW we have for sale here. The rest don't stand out to me. I am surprised we are not getting generation. It is from 2017. It's getting up there in car years.
Not to mention the platform wasn’t new to began with back in 2017. It was based on the first generation MQB platform (2012 Golf). But then again the current Nissan Pathfinder/Infiniti QX60 is based on Nissan D platform which has been out since 2007. So yeah Atlas is probably good enough.
@warset Well it's just surprising cause it's segment is very important here in NA and it's not like the Atlas is top in its class. So I would assume they would make a new one to try and make it even popular. It's not technically necessary. The 4Runner is ancient but it posted its best sales year in 2021 I think.
@@baronvonjo1929 I feel like common combustion engine car platforms have peaked and there isn’t much more to go from there other than switching to electric. Most upgrades made in the past 5-10 years has been on the electronic and fuel economy.
