Check out my review of Assassin's Creed Mirage! This is exactly what the franchise needed, despite its shortcomings : ua-cam.com/video/R3mPLIsNe4w/v-deo.htmlsi=NMoJjqPRjJEcWy9w
Seriously. Ubisoft is faaar from being a good/reliable company, but oh my god do AC fans complain about the dumbest stuff. I've been holding back from playing games like Odyssey and Syndicate and man do I regret trusting any kind of community reviews after playing them.
@@bruh-myegasame, on Valhalla now and in my opinion it’s not that much different from Elden Ring on higher difficulty. Plus the visuals are awesome. Massive world, decent story, lots of stuff to do or not to do. How can anyone review a 100hr+ game by playing it in a week or two without burning out.
@@Deadpool-ts3tq it’s not for everyone. Open world is a genre for a reason. Some like it, some don’t. Playing 1,2 and brotherhood this year and going to this was refreshing. I personally don’t have an urge to play Mirage having played the others recently as it’s going to be what people are asking for I.e. “same same”
Been a hardcore Assassin's Creed fan since 2010. Played every game multiple times to 100% Sync, read most of the novels and comics and watched all the movies... And Valhalla is my third favourite Assassin's Creed game. A beautiful, emotional, spectacular, multilayered, rich and pure Assassin's Creed experience that brings in so much new lore, does more for both the ISU element and the Modern Day than any game since Assassin's Creed III and ties into EVERY prior game in seamless and exciting ways.
I waited till now to play Valhalla and am positively surprised how much I have enjoyed the game so far. 32 hours in and havent been bored even one second while playing it. I expected it to be boring already because its lenght but its very engaging and I like the Nordic vibe in the game. Something different than previous games. Loved Syndicate too because it was different from others.
Finally somebody who sees it. I love Valhalla because it has many great things about it but they are more subtle and the graphic details really capture me . It has many flaws ( freaking longship always pointing wrong direction when I call it) still love Valhalla and Odyseey
I have 248 and didn't finish it. I'm restarting with a second playthrough so I can finish it. It's great, but what threw me off are the helix items and Reda items because they make the game easy. I might just ignore those and use only in game armor and weapons.
This is why I simply don't buy new games. I bought Valhalla on sale 6 months after it came out and then didn't play it for 6 more months. By the time I started it, the bugs were fixed, patches made, content added and the game flowed like butter. I'm enjoying Valhalla :)
I can totally see the criticism for this game. A lot of it is deserved and I think there is a lot of stuff Ubisoft can fix with their games. But I love this game. It was so much fun, raiding monasteries, sneaking through cities, the open world, and the story to some extent just worked for me. I love this time in history so I feel like I have a little bit of bias. Not my fav AC but it's definitely up there. My main complaint is how big it is. Trying to 100% it and I'm at a 150 hours and the end is nowhere in sight.
I just bought this game after reading reviews and putting it off for years. Im playing it on PS5 Pro. This game is incredible. The world. The character. The graphics. I cant speak on the game before the updates but im in shock that people disliked this game. Ive already put in 20 hrs over like three days.
Valhalla as a game is fantastic. What I find most people have issues with is the fact that it doesn't feel like an Assassin's Creed game. Which is true. Although there are trace elements that give you the option to play that way, it doesn't feel like an AC game at all. You play as a screeching regal viking raiding villages. So I can understand peoples frustration, especially the fact that they marketed it as an Assassin's Creed game. But most reviewers are biased to that fact and give the game as a whole a bad review. Which I think is unwarranted. The story is still great, combat is amazing, visuals are stunning, the world is vast. I feel like if they would have marketed Valhalla as it's own game and not intertwined it with the Assassin's Creed series, it probably would have gotten a much more positive response in general. So long story short: if you go in with the mindset that you're just playing a viking themed open-world RPG, and not another Assassin's Creed game, you'll have a great time. Just imagine the game is simply called Valhalla, and pretend the "Assassin's Creed" part of the title doesn't exist lol.
I could say the same about Black Flag. To be honest, the only thing making Valhalla and Black Flag different is that one plays like the RPG games and the other closer to the original games. If Black Flag played like Valhalla, people wouldn't like it much. If Valhalla played like AC III, people would praise it as one of the best Assassin's Creed games likely. Both are AC games, and once you realize both were marketed as a pirate and viking game in the AC universe, you'll enjoy them both.
Honestly the amount of lore in every crevice of this game is insane. The Assassin bureaus, the animus anomalies, the clues in the main story, the puzzles in the world etc. have a lot of classic ac infused in them. A UA-cam channel called access the animus did an entire 10 part series breaking down the minute details and whatnot. This was a great video and i am glad i am not the only person who enjoyed the game haha!
@@jacquesjtheripper5922 I like it - I dunno what good means to you but a lot of comments say it’s too hard - but compared to something like MGS V - I don’t think it’s hard at all and if anything can be a bit easy
My only complaints were: A. Unless someone is a history nerd like myself, all of the side-quest easter eggs would go completely over their heads. B. The story didn't go far enough into the history of why the Norse were migrating south, why they marched on Lindisfarn, and the overall cultural motivation. Kind of the same complaint I had with Odyssey, where it's set in the middle of a very important war, but barely touches the real history of why the Peloponnesian war was happening, and what its consequences were.
That’s always the way isn’t it. Just like with the Star Wars prequels where so many people complained that it wasn’t like the original trilogy but then time passed and they became revered.
I tried to give this game a chance multiple times and couldn’t get into it however, I soon learnt that trying to play it like the other games didn’t work for me, I enjoyed it so much more when I let it be it’s own game, I love odyssey and origins and when playing Valhalla I tried to play it like those games. Once I stopped playing it like odyssey and origins and did my own thing with the game’s mechanics, I can say I love the game so much more and while its different and sometimes has things I’d change, it also has its own positive qualities that make it amazing in its own right! Happy gaming and please try and love the games you play because you get one life, and there is no point wasting it on hating games. ❤
The trick with Ubisoft games is to buy them 2 years later. Less bugs, technical issues, they are more polished in general and have a big 50-75% discount.
A nice redemption review! Nice, i like it! I actually felt the same as you at realease, and quickly gave up after 20h. But this renewed review has made me want to give it another try. I've played all the other AC games, and loved all of them. So why not give it one more chance before i play Mirage. Thank you brother!
I didn't watch your first review but when you said how the combat lacks weight, animations are sloppy, etc. while saying it was different in Origins and Odyssey, it seemed a bit counterintuitive to say the least. That feeling of playing an MMORPG where hits don't have any impact and just push up numbers, having no weight in most animations, transitions from one animation to another being way too quick, ragdoll going all over the place with enemies flying after dying and the overall movements of the character feeling unnatural WAS there since Origins. I personnally don't see any difference in the previous entries, I would even say Odyssey looks even more amateurish than Valhalla so I'm not sure where this argument came from in the first place. I hope they fine tune their combat system to get both a "soulslike" system and decent animations along with a good overall feel when hitting opponents. When comparing the combat to AC3 animationwise, it really looks like we're playing a mobile game now. I'd like them to return to a more down to earth system where enemies don't fly away in a cartoonish way and combat looks more "realistic" (no magic abilities and so on).
Recently I got this game with season pass on 50%-off. Although not everything in this game is doing great, I can see Ubi brought quite a number of elements on top of the AC formula. I completed half of the game so far and I think it worth this price.
I've been playing the game almost from launch on my ps4 pro, and have actually had a really smooth experience overall. The graphics are still beautiful, the 30 fps cap is nearly almost consistent, and I have surprisingly only encountered one bug that had me stuck falling from a fort. I am happy that you enjoy the game!
@@badmutejames From the 80 hours I played on PS5, I didn't experience a single crash. But when I first played it on PS4, it was crashing non stop haha! So I feel the pain.
Just curious...I have a PS4 pro running on a 4ķ Samsung. Fixed the issue with HDR and did improve image...but still looks pretty poor. You say it looks beautiful. Are you using any other setting on your PS4 to improve image.
Bro 4K60fps is a gamechanger. I know, I know - the PC elites have been "doing all that for years now" lol...I don't mean to sound like a framerate snob, but man - what a difference it made. Games like Valhalla, God of War, Spider-Man, Ghost of Tsushima, The Division 2...you can't go back once you've seen it and experienced it this way.
I played this game like 2 hours and was so disappointed that wanted to forget about AC forever, it just ruined it for me, but recently found AC odyssey and wow, that's a freaking good game.
@@masterflitzer yea I can’t complain tho they did sygtryggr way worse lmao he shoulda made it to the end his character the way they introduced him he shoulda stayed until the end
Gotta admire the honesty here - it's a rarity. I just started it on PC and after 50 or so hours I'm absolutely loving it (black Vikings aside.............. get stuffed Ubi). I've never understood all the hatred directed at this game so I decided to give it a whirl myself after completing Odyssey. Say what you will about Ubi - Valhalla is a remarkable achievement and I expect to sink a lot of hours into it. Money well spent, at the end of the day.
How's it running on PC now? Saw it on sale for $23 yesterday, still playing Odyssey but have been waiting on Ubi to iron out Valhalla and it being put on sale to give it my first go.
@@Sevatar_VIIIth It runs great for me using a 1060. I'm 100 hours in and have had it crash twice after super long sessions (actually might've been hardware). No damage, no saves lost................. I've way worse happen on innumerable other games. Other that, I haven't encountered a single glitch or bug. TBH, since I started Valhalla I'm less and less inclined to go back to Odyssey. I prefer everything about Valhalla. YMMV as both are good.
@@michaelforsythe4335 let me ask you this, how did AC Odyssey run for you? Is Valhalla better optimized than Ody? I'm on a little R3 3200g/RX 580 8gb and can't decide if Valhalla will run smoothly on it at medium/low settings?
@@Sevatar_VIIIth I do not have a super duper system by any stretch. I have an old 1060 for a video card. Both Odyssey and Valhalla ran quite well for me - hard to say if one was better than the other. Graphically I'd say I had little to complain about with either. Wasn't impressed at first with Valhalla as it was just mud/snow in Norway. Not until I got to England did it really begin to shine. Jaw droppingly beautiful, imho.
It’s best to play Valhalla as a Viking game that take place in the Assassin’s Creed Universe and has a massive amount of new lore, you’ll have more fun that way. Not to mention, there was a bunch of people in Assassin’s Creed lore who was trained by assassins and never joined the Brotherhood, Eivor is just another addition to that group. For example, Gabriel Laxart was a French man who was given basic training by Assassins to protect Joan of Arc. Afterward, the Assassins gave Gabriel offer to join the brotherhood but declined because he don’t think he has the dedication.
Its a great game , loved the brutal combat and side activities like Flyting and drinking challenges Exploring was not so much fun but not too terrible I have always liked the concept where you as a player need to conqueror Territories one by one something similar which was used in Tom Clancy Ghost recon which made it one of the top reasons for me to enjoy the game the story was amazing for me
What I like about this video is that you didn’t just say you were wrong, but that you also went back and did some self reflection regarding why you had those original opinions.
I agree with the lack of sidequests point. I also thought it was random filler, but honestly I'd take those over a bunch of sidequests anyday. As far as your point on the gear... that's the entire point. They made it that way specifically so we as players can choose to keep a favorite weapon all game if we want. And that's how I play. It even makes sense because protagonists typically have their favorite swords deigned specifically to suit them. Not running around picking up what random dudes drop, never keeping a sword. Witcher 3 forcing players to switch weapons because our last favorite one became irrelevant by being level locked is absolutely the dumbest most trash decision I've ever seen made. I fucking love the Witcher series but whoever designed that was off crack. Literally forcing me to waste my money dismantling gear I only used for an hour and some change after I put runes in it just because I "found" something better. A random axe on a random enemy somehow scales higher than my enchanted shit because lEveLs lmfao no. The weapon "upgrading" from Witcher 3 is absolutely atrocious too. Gotta run around and find level-locked pamphlets for gear, just for you to find some common item that's better on a thug an hour later. That's how you end up with everybody using the same shit because there's only 1 or 2 really good weapons in a game. I'm glad they dropped that mess.
I hope it also shows he has learned not to be so quick to judge, like those entitled persons who condemn a game before it is even released. Or even after it is released; it seems they expect a polished gem on the day of release, and because it's not possible for a developer to ever satisfy them, they actually cause the many delays in game development these days.
I like the new games a lot and I’ve played through and enjoyed the old ones. I’m getting a masters degree in history and the historical details in the new games are mind blowing. The workers at Ubisoft deserve a lot of credit for making these games so detailed. Odyssey is still my favorite because looting and using Ikaros to find loot and objectives was awesome.
I'm still cleaning up the map in Odyssey, but I like the fact that Valhalla is inherently different in so many ways. It makes it fresh and not just a re-hash of Odyssey.
Am I the only one who noticed that the vegetation (grass, bushes) on the island of “Skye” do not react dynamically to the player, as it works in the basic version of the game? The grass does not deform when you step on it and the bushes do not move when you walk through them? I specifically checked this and in England all bushes and tall grasses are movable. I wonder if Ubisoft screwed this up or is it a bug?
Wow! Everything you said was exactly the oposite of my experience. The only thing I didn't like about Valhalla was the story and the characters. I absolutely loved the gear system (many seperared pieces so you could mix and mash more than most games)
Same here man I was like 40 hrs in and got bored finally picked the game back up a couple days ago and I’m loving it again, maybe next time I should just take my time with it more if it takes me 2 yrs to finish then fuck it 🤷♂️
Its amazing to me how many people cant just play a game for themselves. People hate on games theyve never played. A bunch of sheep. Words of wisdom, dont listen to the Internet. Judge for yourself
So many people dislike this game for not feeling like your typical AC. However the game is fun and keeps you entertained in an extremely cool and interesting world for 100s of hours. If ubisoft want to make another game just like this in like a old Japanese setting or something else just as cool. Then I will be more than happy to go on another journey and explore such a fascinating world
Starting from 2 years ago I've played every single ac game since AC3 and with every single one I had the time of my life. The first one was rogue which I used to play on my PS3 back in the day but officially I'd say it's Origins, and man did I fucking love that damn game. The amazing setting, the graphics, the story ( which is still the best story out of every game I've played till this day, besides rdr2), the DLCs ( which are also the best I've ever played) and just the overall gameplay is amazing. Anyways, since I played all of those games I kinda wanted to play Valhalla, but every single video I watched bashed so hard on that game that I didn't even want to try it out, even random comment sections in ac videos were constantly ranting about Valhalla. But there's something to it that keeps me coming back to find reason as to why I should buy it. After this video and the current steam sales... Maybe I will. Though I've been also thinking about buying the Witcher 3 so I'm still deciding
I find this quite funny. All in all AC Valhalla is actually a good game till first 30ish hours and then its just the same thing repeated again and again. The best one can rate valhalla as is a decent game just a slight bit above average and the reason is very very apparent. Just take imaginary scenario - What will you remember about the game say 5-10 years down the line? - NOTHING. There is nothing iconic about this game. All the cities (I would prefer to call them village by how small they are) look just like a copy paste and why not as there possibly couldn't be anything interesting in them going by the timeline. There is literally no meaning to any of the services be it merchant or stables or anything as there is nothing EXCLUSIVE. When did it happen - Oh! A new merchant, let's see what he has. When did it happen - Oh! A new equipment marker, let's see what it is. (probably part of some set, don't know what it will look like? Oh let's not forget the astronomical cost to upgrade it.) When did it happen - Oh! I have enough silver, let's buy that cool - thing. ( its soo sad that I have to write THING cause there literally isn't anything that will make you excited or save your silver so that you can get it) When did it happen - Damn! I will come back to this place cause it has this unique ..... ( no place has anything unique ). I can keep writing but all this is after my 40ish hours or gameplay. The one and the only thing that this game does write is its GRAPHICS and ENVIRONMENT. Although the setting / time period is super bad for a AC Open world title cause there is nothing ICONIC about it. Please enlighten me if I am wrong as I really really want to be wrong. I bought this game for a huge sum and I feel sad to see my money wasted. I don't want to just blatently critisize it as I have given significant money and time to the game so please understand where I am coming from. TO VIDEO CREATOR: If the game made you give up once then its the failure of the game itself. (This happened for a pretty playerbase). They certainly didn't design the opening in a good manner.
I found myself actually enjoying Valhalla once I turned off the mini map/compass and quest markers. Just exploring England is so much more fun now. It's clear that ACV was inspire by Zelda.
Its just like cyberpunk....i loved it. Everyone hated it, and now everyone loves it ...same with Valhalla. I loved it , didn't understand how people could say it sucks...and now everyone is jumping on the bandwagon
I fell out of gaming so long ago, I never got an xbox one or ps3 even. my wife got AC3 on the Wii U... yes... Wii U, but I loved that game, and have been playing the ones I can recently on xbox 360, and switch... Rebel collection, Ezio Collection, AC3 remastered. and I really really want to move up in consoles to play more AC games. But, I'm an "old man" and probably will never have time to do all that. this type of review is cool, because it shows that there was care put into the game, and if you just take your time with it, it can be really enjoyable.
Tbh the first time i played this game for an hour and never touched it again....until 3 months later i started playing again for more than 5 hours one day and it has me hooked for a whole week+ now😂😂idk why
I find this 100 times better than oddesy rather than having to grind menial quests to get gear levels to be effective but the power levels feel much more fleshed out and the infinite respec and auto assign it makes it so much less stressful, and they definitely did change art style, it kind of seems more like a story book painting or scroll of sorts the start also doesn’t seem as boring as oddesy or one of the later segments of origins and so far it doesn’t seem to pay to win or anything and the ability times are so much more rewarding and make exploration much less tedious and much more rewarding also they got rid of the boats, well the navel battle boats I also like the raiding aspect albeit I don’t like shouting alalalalala and slamming an axe into someone’s skull rather than sneaking around and shanking my way around, but the game seems to be pretty solid in its current state, it turned into a rise of kingdoms ad for a minute and it was great, and one of the guys looks like a standard nord from Skyrim I’m definitely buying the season pass
As a huge AC fan since 2008, I got the game for sale a week ago fully expecting to hate everything about it after seeing what many of the og fans/critics thought about the game(last game I liked was origins, still prefered the originals). Lo and behold, 45 hours later I'm pretty much in love with this game, this is the first time since The Witcher 3(coincidence?don't think so) that i've put so many hours in such a short time span without getting tired of playing the game at all. Yes, this is still not the AC i wanted, but hell is it the rpg i didn't know i wanted. I've had this hole in me since i completed TW3 and it's DLCs and somehow this game is the only one that managed to move me in the same way(still not as good as TW3 of course!). I liked most of the arcs so far, the raids, looting etc have been satisfying because they have a purpose for me(village), and although not my favourite ac char by a long shot I do quite like eivor(the male voice actor did an A+ job imo, love his tone). I also really appreciate the lack of clutter on the map compared to the other rpg AC's and i feel like their questing aproach works really well for me although it could always be better. Overall i feel like the game whilist having it's issues(lack of ac lore and main character, parkour/stealth could be much better of course) I feel like the game has gotten way too much flack just for being a Ubi game in 2022, I legit think it would be praised if it was made by a different/less known company. Feeling like this will be another Unity case, with people hating it at launch and loving it years later. P.S. even the modern day seems to be the best it's been since ac3, although that doesn't say much, enjoying the animus glitches or whatever they're called. P.S.P.S Huge props to you for admitting you were ""wrong"", very few people would do that and even fewer reviewers.
Same as In odyssey female va is miles ahead of the male And I wdnt even be surprises if ppl hate the game jst bcs they hate male eivor bcs I definitely hate him its so bad 😂
@@litt420 Yep unfortunately went for Alexios in odyssey, ended up losing interest even though I'm Greek and his accent was accurate, the delivery was just off. Cassandra was so much better
I’m glad I waited to buy the game until I had a next-gen console (the Series S). Playing at 60fps is awesome and the game runs beautifully. I got Valhalla on sale but I would’ve happily paid full price for it.
The game isn’t a mess on base PS4 now. The framerate is more stable than origins and odyssey (and I tend to notice this a lot). It still is boring as fuck even if it looks and runs good
Man I’m on the same boat rn. Just started playing again after not touching it for however long. (I literally only played half of the prolong and found it boring). It’s such a fun and immersive games, despite its clunky animations and gameplay
i AM pretty new to gaming on pc(many years since gamed at all untill covid that is in 2020). But i actually loved this game more when it was new compared to today(mayby due to graphics being something amazing for me in this game compared to old school playstation 1+2 and amiga+c64 i played on before) Many changes and stuff i think i liked more at launch compared to now(or it might be that several 100s of hours of gaming in this world made me sick to play more due to getting a overdose of same views in england+irland+paris dlc,Still have the dawn of ragna....dlc to play and heard great things about it so might still get 100+ hours onto the 2-300+ hours already played during the years in ac.Valhalla) Sorry if english n so is bad!! Thanks for a great review and video again
I recommend that as a reviewer of video games, you remain Subjective and unbiased in your reviews. Take your time and appreciate A Game for it's Own content and not in comparison to previous installments, or other genres.
I agree to some extent. But like I can safely say that Valhalla is a good Viking game, but a terrible Assassin's Creed - since it removes pretty much everything from the originals. And I think that's fair. It's also accurate and it helps fans of the originals know what to expect.
The same happened to me more or less, I hated Valhalla after playing it right at launch on my PS4, didn't even finish it the first time, tried a few more times and just couldn't. But after talking to a few people who did enjoy it I decided to try it again this time on PS5 with 60 fps and I loved it, I'm sad it doesn't have NG+ cause grinding from scratch gets a bit tedious but it's a great game
I don't own Valhalla, but from what it looks like I still prefer Origins and Odyssey. That's just my opinion. Besides that I really liked the video, your voice is really calm and entertaining, honestly I though you were gonna be one of those review UA-camrs with a few million subscribers. Your content is high quality and I want to thank you for that!
Im Swedish and a history and viking age nerd, always been a gamer but never tried any assasins creed game for whatever reason but bought this today on sale i like it already altough would prefer it more realistic but i guess this is the way ac games are
See here’s my deal. I’m a big fan of all 3 recent assassins creed games. Origins had a lovely story and beautiful animations and setting was sublime but had a bit of an issue combat animation style it felt a little too fast, not carrying much weight. Odyssey was absolutely breathtaking. Great story with characters you grow to really connect with, lots of amazing settings, fun combat style and immersive world. My gripe with this one however is a big one….. I hate the spear of leonidas. I get it that it plays a massive role in the story and it’s a part of our characters but…. It’s the combat. The spear is present in two of the weapon types, one of which I use most frequently in any AC game which is the one handed sword. I’m not allowed to wield just a sword or just a dagger, it must be accompanied by that stupid spear. It’s not fun. It also doesn’t feel like a good replacement for the hidden blade when it comes to assassinations. The animations are over the top and annoying to watch, it’s supposed to be discreet. As for Valhalla, it’s very apparent that this game requires some help but aside from the bugs and technical issues, it’s fun. I think the combat is acting far better only because it doesn’t take 15 minutes to kill one enemy even with abilities. Weapons also feel like the have weight and I love how you equip them. I also love the setting more than origins, it feels more varied than desert, desert, and more desert. The return of the hidden blade was a big big plus because we’re back to discreet kills. Story was great though felt slow in some areas. My issue lies in one annoying issue….. ALL OF GLOWECESTRECIRE IS ANNOYINGLY SCREWED! It all stems from one stupid issue that they refuse to fix! The god damned mari lwyd costume just shows up whenever you enter that area. It makes the entire region almost unplayable just because I can’t be my character in that one area!
I played this a couple years after launch, despite liking the series, because of the negativity surrounding it. When I finally did play through it I just didn’t get the hate for it. World is beautiful, it may not be a great AC game but it is a great Viking rpg. Even the story was enjoyable. I liked the anthology style with different story arcs per region and it kept things fresh as I also found myself actually caring about some of the characters in each region. I can see why reviewers might hate it, due to it’s length. Or if someone is trying to rush the main story. But if you just take you time, really immerse yourself in the world, and be prepared to be in that world for the long haul, it is really enjoyable. But Ubisoft has been an industry punching bag in recent years, I think they’re games are way overhated, so it was easy for people who hadn’t played it to believe it was terrible. I’m replaying it now with the AC Shadows announcement and it’s still fun. Between this and Days Gone, I fully stopped trusting reviews years ago as I found myself missing out in games I later ended up loving as a result.
I’m glad I’m not much of a fan for Assassins’s Creed Franchise so I easily enjoy these new directions the franchise went without feeling pain or hurt from over-nostalgic
Valhalla was refreshing. Played Odyssey on Nightmare and hated all 230 hours lol forced my way through it tho to satisfy my OCD. If I listed why I didn’t like it, I’d narrow it down to a terrible story about family, and repetitive quests and camp locations. Not to mention making the cult hunt feel optional and the final cultist underwhelming. Although I did like the abilities more in odyssey. But the equipment level scaling made it annoying because I could enjoy my armor for a quest or two before it was under leveled again forcing me to use new equipment or pay to upgrade them every time.
Very similar experience... played day one and I wasn't impressed. Shelfed it for almost a year. Then came back and played on series x. Def way better. Put in around 200hrs.
I just came back to it with all the updated content (River raids, Tomb of the Fallen, Mastery Challenge, and Isle of Skye) and the first Season Pass and they addressed most of what made it ok except for 2 things 1- Still no Assassins in the game, which sucks 2- Clipping issues are on galore
Yeah the lack of actual Assassins in an Assassin's Creed game is insane haha! I still don't understand why Ubisoft won't start a new franchise for these Historical/Fantasy RPGs
@From The Attic Yeah exactly. Immortals was good, had elements of ac without being ac and it worked well. Valhalla is good, just not assassin's creed good
FINALLY! This game is a masterpiece and I would really love for this game to get as much love from fans as "Call of Duty Black Ops 2" but it's just not the case. I am happy to hear that you like it.
@@the0skeptic Calling this game trash is far too much. It is a masterpiece, in every aspect. Look at other games, for example Cyberpunk, a garbage that nobody remembers, Valhalla is way better than that.
@@piotrmontgomerytv7786 I agree with you bro, this is one of the most beautiful games of all time in every aspect. The game is definitely an over-hated game for no specific reason, it definitely is a masterpiece.
@@piotrmontgomerytv7786 Bro so many whiners these days. Some whiners even act like experts and feel like this world revolves around them and they know everything, some say AC Valhalla is not an AC game lol, why? Because it's a new game? They forget the fact that it is the most selling Assassin's creed game of all time. Also it is worth noting that AC Valhalla has many elements that are consistent with the series, such as stealth, parkour, historical settings and lore. It also has some new features that make it unique and innovative, such as raids, settlements and choices. I think it’s a great game that respects the legacy of Assassin’s Creed while also exploring new possibilities.
Yep. Whenever I'm wrong about something or change my mind, I'm not scared to say it out loud. Even if some people think Ubisoft paid me to make this video lol. I wish, I freaking wish I was paid haha
I appreciated Valhalla when it was released, now I understand it is not the typical Assassin's Creed game, but the game was still mad fun with so much content. I was not bothered to buy the DLC because... it was actually worth it to play, each DLC had a great story attached to it and amazing gameplay. I know why people hate it, but I would still recommend people to at least try out the demo because it can be really fun
Then only thing I really wish is that they would have dropped the Assassins Creed title and make it a full historical RPG, without all that science fiction
Finally a positive review on an AC game!!! A 180 review at that!! This video was very pleasing after watching all the AC slander for years. I feel like it’s jus the “COOL” thing to hate on Assassins Creed games now an that’s jus not fair.
Thanks :) My initial review of Valhalla was the first time in my life I didn't like an AC game. Because I've always enjoyed the previous games to some extent and I freaking love some of them.
I’m not surprised the same studio that made this game also made Origins. Origins was so freaking good. IMO Origins is the second best AC game behind AC2. People love Odyssey, but I think it was too big and felt randomly generated. Valhalla is incredible. It’s world and soundtrack surpasses Odyssey imo. I still struggle with countering and finding a use for my bird though. Not sure why I can’t mark enemies with my bird. Can’t figure out how
So I just picked up this game because it was on a deep sale on ps5. I have a couple thoughts. 1. I avoided this game because reviews and the AC community were pretty negative toward it. But now that i sit down with it im seeing its pretty fun. Not perfect, but I dont think ANY AC game is perfect. 2. I get that this probably isn't what people wanted from an Assassins Creed game. These new game definitely veer away from traditional AC games. But honestly this isn't bad. (Odyssey writing is pretty lazy and cringe however) Desmond, Ezio, Connor and Altair all have excellent games that you can still play and enjoy on most modern consoles. If you want that just go play those. 3. People that are fans of the older games have this toxic expectation that these games will achieve the greatness of the Ezio trilogy and I think that's really an unfair expectation. You can't Demand innovation AND expect things to feel like they used to. The whole point is to have a new experience. 4. Ubisoft microtransactions are garbage and I hate them. I know they can be ignored but it really does detract from what feels like a mostly competent open world action game.
I managed to get hold a Ps5 at RRP few week's ago and picked up a couple of £20 game's this being one of them... and I'm really enjoying it I find myself getting sidetracked looking for armor, gold ect and then do a story mission... what i'm saying is I think this game has quite a lot to offer... go play it 😀👍..⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.. really
I'm happy that you're having a fun time with Valhalla, but I can never love Assassin's Creed again. Valhalla was that final game where I was hoping to see some return to the roots and it is far from it.
I completely understand that. In fact, I enjoy it much more as a standalone viking game than a proper Assassin's Creed - despite the improvements made to the modern day story. I still hope that the next games will be a return to form for the franchise. If AC Infinity welcomes many smaller AC titles under its roof, I'm sure we can expect at least one of them to focus on stealth and nothing else ;)
Actually there was some ac lore in the game and the story was amazing, and after siege of Paris i got lil hopes that maybe Ubisoft is going back to the right track, but it's Ubisoft after all🌚 we can't guarantee anything
I just treat this as a sword mercenary like in ac ezio trilogy where courtesan, warriors and thieves helping the assassin's. I always remind myself that they're just only good with parkour teached with basic assassin's stealth moves trained with pure nord fighting style.
Retrospective review is helpful, thanks for putting this out. I wasn't interested in reviews from launch date as people need to give games more time and patience to review it "fully" imo. Takes courage to look at your past review and criticize it, and admit that you may have rushed through it the first time. Well done!
Thanks :) When I replayed Valhalla, I just couldn't shake the desire to make a video about it. The game is good. Although not perfect and I'm never going to finish it because it's just too long for its sake. Still, it's a fun game!
Ive recently put many hours into 3 games that got crushed by critics. Death stranding, valhalla, days gone.. now i know all 3 have had patches and directors cuts since there releases but still all 3 are fantastic games. And the critics quite frankly are off there heads.
Bought the complete edition when it comes to a ridiculously low price on the PS store. Worth the 30 bucks i payed for it. In fact, i enjoy it so much and since its my first AC the i actually dig, i bought the gold edition for Odyssey so ill play that one right after Valhalla.

I can't wait for Valhalla to get 5 years old so everyone can start appreciating it.
Seriously. Ubisoft is faaar from being a good/reliable company, but oh my god do AC fans complain about the dumbest stuff.
I've been holding back from playing games like Odyssey and Syndicate and man do I regret trusting any kind of community reviews after playing them.

A beautiful, emotional, spectacular, multilayered, rich and pure Assassin's Creed experience that brings in so much new lore, does more for both the ISU element and the Modern Day than any game since Assassin's Creed III and ties into EVERY prior game in seamless and exciting ways.

Update
It’s still a good game
So it’s the games fault people suck at stealth sections I’ve proven time and time again that stealth works in this game
And I play on hard
Yeah I really enjoyed the lore of Valhalla and how it connects a lot of dots! I'll check out the channel you suggested :) Thanks for watching!

That's really interesting. Gonna take a look into all that. Thanks friend! :)

Once I stopped playing it like odyssey and origins and did my own thing with the game’s mechanics, I can say I love the game so much more and while its different and sometimes has things I’d change, it also has its own positive qualities that make it amazing in its own right!

I loved it as a Viking Game with a bit of AC in it. Started to listen to Wardruna because of it. Beautiful Game.
Its a great game , loved the brutal combat and side activities like Flyting and drinking challenges

Pretty much.
I give it another couple years before people start saying it was underrated and poorly received by AC 2 fetishists.
insane amounts of copium in these comments lmao
I bought this game immediately after seeing your first review of this game, knew it was cap from the start.
I bought this game 1 year after release just becaus of the bad reviews but it turned out to be one of my favorite AC games
You were right... didn't expect this video at all! Gotta love when reviewers criticize themselves. Shows you're legitimate 😁
Thanks man :) Yeah, I really wasn't expecting to make this video myself haha!

I love AC Valhalla, it was my first game on my ps5 and I really enjoyed it, I have played almost all the AC games and Valhalla is one of my favourites

Oh let's not forget the astronomical cost to upgrade it.)
When did it happen - Oh! I have enough silver, let's buy that cool - thing. ( its soo sad that I have to write THING cause there literally isn't anything that will make you excited or
save your silver so that you can get it)
When did it happen - Damn!
I bought this game for
a huge sum and I feel sad to see my money wasted.

But, I'm an "old man" and probably will never have time to do all that. this type of review is cool, because it shows that there was care put into the game, and if you just take your time with it, it can be really enjoyable.
i got like an hour into it and deleted it..just couldnt get into it.. for some reason i feel like now i would like it. im giving it another shot
You've convinced me. I'm gonna get this game on my PS5.
That's good! Hopefully you'll enjoy it and I won't have caused you to waste money 😅
Same as In odyssey female va is miles ahead of the male
And I wdnt even be surprises if ppl hate the game jst bcs they hate male eivor bcs I definitely hate him its so bad 😂
@@litt420 Yep unfortunately went for Alexios in odyssey, ended up losing interest even though I'm Greek and his accent was accurate, the delivery was just off. Cassandra was so much better
its a tough game to get started
it takes a lot of time
its confusing too
but once you get going
its amazing
change the last one to "it's okay" then it's accurate
I’m glad I waited to buy the game until I had a next-gen console (the Series S). Playing at 60fps is awesome and the game runs beautifully. I got Valhalla on sale but I would’ve happily paid full price for it.
The game isn’t a mess on base PS4 now. The framerate is more stable than origins and odyssey (and I tend to notice this a lot). It still is boring as fuck even if it looks and runs good
Haha that's good to know 😅 At least it runs well
Man I’m on the same boat rn. Just started playing again after not touching it for however long. (I literally only played half of the prolong and found it boring). It’s such a fun and immersive games, despite its clunky animations and gameplay
i AM pretty new to gaming on pc(many years since gamed at all untill covid that is in 2020).
But i actually loved this game more when it was new compared to today(mayby due to graphics being something amazing for me in this game compared to old school playstation 1+2 and amiga+c64 i played on before)
Many changes and stuff i think i liked more at launch compared to now(or it might be that several 100s of hours of gaming in this world made me sick to play more due to getting a overdose of same views in england+irland+paris dlc,Still have the dawn of ragna....dlc to play and heard great things about it so might still get 100+ hours onto the 2-300+ hours already played during the years in ac.Valhalla)
Sorry if english n so is bad!!
Thank you so much :) I'm glad you enjoy my stuff!
Got a new sub bro. Love the commentary and editing.
Thank you very much 🤟🙏
One of my favorite open world games. Doesnt top odyssey for me though. Still have over 600 hours in Odyssey.
3000 hours în ODYSSEY
I just wish I could pull the camera in closer during combat.
Same... It would be much more immersive that way
I’m glad I’m not much of a fan for Assassins’s Creed Franchise so I easily enjoy these new directions the franchise went without feeling pain or hurt from over-nostalgic
I played around 70 hours and I don't think I'm gonna finish it but I definitely enjoyed my time with it :)
I just came back to it with all the updated content (River raids, Tomb of the Fallen, Mastery Challenge, and Isle of Skye) and the first Season Pass and they addressed most of what made it ok except for 2 things
1- Still no Assassins in the game, which sucks
2- Clipping issues are on galore
Yeah the lack of actual Assassins in an Assassin's Creed game is insane haha! I still don't understand why Ubisoft won't start a new franchise for these Historical/Fantasy RPGs
@From The Attic Yeah exactly. Immortals was good, had elements of ac without being ac and it worked well. Valhalla is good, just not assassin's creed good
@@UnivingIshiro Totally. I really enjoyed Immortals I even did a review on the channel haha!
Odyssey will always be my favorite of the new ACs. Old ACs would be AC2.
FINALLY! This game is a masterpiece and I would really love for this game to get as much love from fans as "Call of Duty Black Ops 2" but it's just not the case. I am happy to hear that you like it.
calling this game a masterpiece is a bit much
@@the0skeptic Calling this game trash is far too much.
@@theRogMick It's sad how good games like: MW2019, Assassin's Creed Valhalla or Enlisted are getting hate for what? Being new?
No way, someine who is able to take back his opinions...valhalla is fantastic. Period.
Yep. Whenever I'm wrong about something or change my mind, I'm not scared to say it out loud. Even if some people think Ubisoft paid me to make this video lol. I wish, I freaking wish I was paid haha
Does some of the bugs were already fixed in ps4?
I'm sure it's much more stable on PS4 now too :)
@@MichaelFromTheAttic cool, thank you for your response. Will like this video now and sub :)
@@PotatoG30 Yesss 🙏
I played it once hated it and uninstalled, months later I reinstalled it and fell in love with it.
Man I'm still trying the game out, 130 hours played and it still feels like a chore playing it every time - don't know why but still giving it chances
how do you time yourself when playing?? with a phone??
@@AMPEMPDPlayStation has a rough counter for all games in the settings menu.
(Odyssey writing is pretty lazy and cringe however)
Desmond, Ezio, Connor and Altair all have excellent games that you can still play and enjoy on most modern consoles.
I think I've been playing too much AC keep getting random adverts about templar knights and the history of them. They are on to me 😂
I think an issue with peoples enjoyment of the game is skill as well …a lot of people didn’t take time to realize how crafty Evior was
Honest review. I enjoyed Valhalla although it is not as good as Odyssey.
I think infinity will rectify some things.
Finally someone sees what I see in this
Bro i am still playing on ps5 and it is too bad specially in stealth play. Tune every settings and found garbage. Totally disappointment my purchase.
Bought the complete edition when it comes to a ridiculously low price on the PS store. Worth the 30 bucks i payed for it. In fact, i enjoy it so much and since its my first AC the i actually dig, i bought the gold edition for Odyssey so ill play that one right after Valhalla.
