To fly is heavenly to hover divine. Rotary wing aviation there is simply no substitute. Thanks to all now serving in our military, those who have, and those who will in the future. FLY NAVY!!!
When the Husby Erickson partnership was going strong on the Q C Islands, I had many a hair job redone numerous times by the prop wash, got paid if they were flying, not being worked on, miss Naden Harbour.
I worked on the landing for a helicopter logging sale and when the Skycrane was flying logs to us, we worked our butts off! Sometimes, there would be 10-12 logs in a single turn. Every 2-3 minutes.
The SKY Crane is impressive to know the materials that I use for the design and how it performed the material resistance calculations applied loads and bending calculation. which was designed by a genius.
When working for natgrid they flew a mile long rope to pull the cabble from power pole to power pole they could of done it from ground but they sead it would of took 3 week it took the helocopter 3 hours
54,000 ford feet per flight hour ... what is ford feet ... what are you saying... how many ford feet are there in 1 m3 ... oh i see its Board Feet so 54,000 is 127m3
Weyerhauser came into British Columbia bought out the 2nd largest forest company on earth (Macmillan bloedel) shut it down, killed off the thousands of IWA jobs which effectively killed the union (including paper mills)and shifted 90% of the sawmill jobs south to the United states so we are not very fond of them in B.C. IMO

How do you judge how much the Sky Crane can lift ?
scale on the long line
when we were logging the pilot had a scale in the cockpit he called out weights every time so you got a idea
How much can the chopper lift
25k pounds per the narrator
Giant logging drones are next.
