@@WildFloridian yup I do the same because I get ideas that may not be ready at the time. Just got my everglades tomato seeds from Southern Exposure (gave Wild Floridian a shout out in my order) and putting them in the ground tomorrow. Fingers crossed
I agree! They should have a separate label for intense FL sun. I have found that if a plant label says full sun/partial shade, plant it in partial shade in FL.
HELLO FELLOW NEIGHBORS! I'M IN TEMPLE TERRACE/TAMPA...3 MTHS IN & 1 TOMATO! THE 1ST PLANT WAS FLOWERING BEFORE THE STORM WIND THAT PASSED, THEY ALL FELL OFF AFTERWARDS & NOW DEALING WITH DISEASED PLANTS...HAD NO CLUE ATTEMPTING TO PRODUCE SOME TOMATOES WAS GOING TO BE THIS DELICATE & FRUSTRATING😟😟
I made the mistake of trying to start my tomatoes too early. The heat and the rain just made them shrivel and disappear. I'll try again in a few weeks. Thanks for all the information. Very helpful. :)
I wish you the best of luck! I just put in some cuttings! Sometimes they will look like they are gone and then surprise me when they bounce back! Can’t wait to see more butterflies and plants in your garden! Especially as everything starts to head south
I live in port saint lucie. And maybe I got lucky but I got 10-12 large cherry, and 3-4 purple cherokee through the summer. Been pulling large cherries off the vine for the last 3 weeks. Plant them as DEEP as possible.
Hi! Like the video! Would you be able to make a video series about growing tomatoes and peppers in central/south Florida? From starting seeds, prepping garden beds, treating pest organically, etc. I am a central Floridian and would appreciate any tips/tricks!
One, I love your name! Super fun! I will add those onto the list of topics to make videos! I’m in central Florida too! Hope you are staying dry with all this monsoon rain 🌧
I bought seeds from Florida Seed in Lakeland, Florida grown. My first time. Store bought plants, terrible crop. Excited I found you! I live in Homosassa.
I grow mine in containers and they are great. I use the self watering so the tomatoes get the water from the bottom. Gardening by Leon has some good ideas here on YT.
Wonderful! First year growing more than “pear”. Whoa Nellie!!! Figured out the hard way to when to harvest. So tire of the bugs and squirrels. Harvesting now (mid-June). Never planting again this early. Love your videos
This is awesome! I have to say that your videos have really been helping me start my garden. I used the UF IFAS website recently to help me pick varieties of tomatoes to buy. I did buy some Everglades seeds because you mentioned them 😊 I also had picked a full sun spot to plant them but now I’m rethinking because of your advice here. I live in Wesley Chapel so I’m too far from you. I’m a little limited on choices though for my tomato plants though because I live in a townhouse with an HOA so they may end up getting full sun just because I don’t have much of choice.
Hi neighbor Lauren! You are right.., just a hop and skip away! Did you get flooded from the storms this past weekend.., my yard was a swamp! I’m so happy this helped you, HOA’s can be challenging... if you get stuck in a sunny spot... Try some shade cloth or other plants to help break it up! Happy Growing!
@@WildFloridian the shade cloth might bring too much attention to her house and get them to keep vigilant eyes on her. That happened to my neighbor, maybe use other plants for cover. That's my 2 cents. Sorry to intrude 😬
Yes, I would like to see some videos about harvesting seeds in a variety of veggies and flowers. That would be awesome. "Tomato Groove" -- made me laugh. "Get Your Tomato Groove On" should be one of your wearables.
Great video. Your a natural at this video teaching thing. I live in Englewood just below you and have great success with my sweet taters and okra. (Raised beds) I prefer slicing tomatoes so I get them to grow but not big yields even with pruning. I gotta try some cherries. Sounds like less work. The other thing that grows well here is bok choy. Delicious! Perfect fall veggie to consider. Seeds grow quick and 45 so days to harvest.
I have a couple questions. I'm in zone 9b. Dover, Plant City area. Once a year we get what Walmart calls Sugarkiss cantaloupe. Last time we got some I kept the seeds and planted them. I can't find seeds in stores or online and wonder if it's called something else and maybe I'm just looking by the wrong name?
Wild Floridian The egg plant it flowers a lot, but then they fall off :( ... no fruiting. The plant keeps growing. I water if needed and I mulch of course BTE method.
Nightshade plants will flower but not fruit when it is too hot. With the recent cool down, I would expect it to change. I have an eggplant too and am seeing the same thing. Flowers but no fruit yet. Hang in there... let’s see what early October brings 😄
@@lichellegolivera Have you tried hand pollinating? I do it and it prevents from dropping some flowers. Give that a go and see what happens. Good luck 🍀🌷😁👍❤️
We live near St. Augustine and we always end up with (as best as we can determine) a tobacco type virus- brown spotting with later yellowing of leaves. We've done the usual preventitives like trimming lower leaves and cleaning snips, etc. Any advice?
Sounds like a soil issue. I would try tomatoes in a different area of the yard or give it a rest for a couple years and put in some beans and amend the soil
Im CACKLING! i do that all the time! "Is that a weed oooooorrrrr something i want?" My husband asked me "whats that" in my butterfly garden and my response was idk... i put something around there, but that could be a weed... im just waiting to see if the bees/butterflies like it ;)"
We don’t really eat tomatoes, but I would like to make tomato sauce and can it. Live in punta Gorda. Which tomato if any will do the job? So far in my two years of trying to grow anything I got some collard greens. My soil is horrible so I’m sure that’s what my problem is.
Can u please send me the info link on EVERGLADE TOMATO... I can't find ur specific video. Thank You SO much! I live in the 🚀 Coast. I had ordered 10 seeds, but one 1 grew. It's about 8" high now and I'd like to plant it in a Fabric POT. But more info would be fantastic! Maybe u can REPOST IT? TQ 🍅🍅🍅
Haha. My first time growing tomatoes and I have Beefsteak! After watching this video I just moved them (in large containers) where they can get morning sun/afternoon shade(fingers crossed) OMG I'm gonna kill these things I just know it!
OH no Momma T! They may make it. I'll cross my fingers for ya. You can do it! And if the pests get it... try again with a smaller type of tomato 🍅 👍 You got this 😄
Being an Italian maybe you know... i was looking forward to Romas but yeah... no.. thats not gonna work-out it seems. Is there a lil guy that is reminiscent to a roma for a GOOD SAUCE! nothing like a total from scratch sauce... 😌
You can grow Romas... Just do it in the right season. Larger tomatoes just need way more babysitting and the yields will tend to be lower. Get your Romas and grow! :D
Use picture this APP it's free you take a picture of the plant and it tells you exactly what it is and it also keeps it logged in your phone this way you can go back and look and see what plants you have and what plants you don't have

FL. Has a gardening law, you may want to look it up. It basically says you can not be restricted from planting food crops for personal consumption.
Very informative. Keep up the good work

What are the other green veggies in the bowl with the green tomatoes at 18:59 called plz
