You put a lot of ENERGY into your brush strokes....Something my old Art teacher stressed we should do... He showed an example by Rembrandt, (A tightly rendered realistic part) saying. "This is NOT Rembrandt"...Then He showed a close up drawing by Rembrandt (Heavy crude marks). "THIS!...IS REMBRANDT!" And That is what you do...Like Van Gogh or Monet......Well done sir! GREAT ENERGY.

Love your work and really like that rough brownish linen. Have you tried painting directly on the raw linen, with reveals for special effect? Some other approaches are rabbit skin glue or transparent glazing the linen allowing the raw linen to show through. I think the effect would lend itself extremely well for your painting style.
They will start getting a bit stiffer around 20F - 25F. This day was in the 30s and I had no issue. But even when the paint gets a bit stiff, I don’t mind.
You lost me at "the great thing about winter is early sunsets". Literally what I hate about winter, oh yeah and cold weather. If we were meant to live in cold weather, God would have dressed us with fur. LOL Just messing. Lovely painting as always. Inspires me to go paint right now.....

I think it's funny you spent so much time making the canvas smooth only to use as much texture as you can. Good habits are hard to break.
I think I spent a solid 50 seconds making it smooth.

You're freezing in the northern hemisphere while I am in the southern hemisphere SMAO .
I actually do love the longer days of summer, but to be able to paint that kind of light quality before dinner to amazing!
