All these idiots understand is someone with a strong voice with authority. being polite carries no weight whatsoever since most of these people don't seem to understand manners and politeness. This is easily solved stop the tourists getting near the horses at all, this would make the guards job so much easier. Limited ticket only admission would stop the hordes of people and a one way system in the front and out of the back would be very efficient. Better barriers at the front would work as well with no one being allowed past them the would have to take their photos from behind the barrier and anyone caught near horse and guard fined. This would also make money for Horse Guards. This would make the guards and horses much safer too.. It is really time for a change before someone probably the horse and guards gets badly hurt due to the recalcitrant tourists refusal to move..
@@jilldavies7094 f Horse Guards certainly isn't a thoroughfare, it's a building. But Whitehall is, which is why they can't put barriers round the horses. I don't think they'd want to anyway, as it would get in their way. I'm not sure about Horse Guards Parade, though; the public are allowed in there but that doesn't mean they have the right to enter. It was originally laid out by Henry VIII as a tilt yard, so it's probably owned by the Crown. I could be wrong though.

Under the Anti Terrorism Act, there have been Public Rights of Way going back centuries (and well before the military built anything near) which have been closed to the public.
It saddens and angers me to see how people disrespect these young soldiers, who as others before them will if needed give the greatest sacrifice. Really brings home the horror of young lives that are lost in wars.
People ignore because we're not showing authority, sometimes shouting is needed to get attention, we cannot be ruled by foreigners in this country, our rules if you don't like way we deal with things. Leave.

Which means it sees from the front also. It's eyeball is not fixed and allows the range to be adjusted to some extent. So it sees best what it is facing because it is using both eyes. It does need to side eye is the point.

You allow people in, roam free then you expect them to know they are to follow certain protocol. I don't believe all of the blame falls on tourists/visitors. Set up perimeters if you want people to act in a certain way. Different countries have different codes of conduct. What you think is rude in England may not be rude in Turkey. Hello from Spain, why doesn't the soldier close the gates. Stop people walking through them when he's trying to get everyone behind the bollards. People are like sheep. One does it, so it must be OK to do it. The woman in yellow was so entitled. I still don't know why they allow people in the courtyard during changeover. They have to constantly tell the sheep, move behind the white line, make a gap so the guards can walk through, and don't block where the horse is going to go. If a horse is spooked and kicks off, those people have nowhere to go, especially when it's very crowded. If someone is blocking the way, I think the guards on horseback should just walk through them. Maybe then, people will move.
This has been suggested for years but it's not as easy as it sounds. You can't block the horse in, there needs to be space in front in case it starts to play up or gets spooked. Also the area in front of the horse is a public footpath and there are laws against obstructing it and unfortunately the stupid public have a right to walk/stand there.
That one young Guard can't seem to be able to control these unruly and disrespectful crowds. He needs to be more assertive and yell at them. That's all these idiots know...being screamed at. Otherwise, they'll run all over you.
They are highly trained firearms officers deployed in case of a serious incident or terrorist attack,they are not there to keep tourists in line,but do help the guards with their duties sometimes to keep the tourists safe
That was a quite nice dismount,actually. They do not go always smoothly, in synch and sometimes those i watched so far could be even messy. This one looked good imo.

The soldier has been out a few times to tell people to get behind the bollards,the police officers were just standing there chatting why didn’t they say something to these ignorant people.
It’s warn the horse that the weight of the rider will be shifting as they dismount. The horse will then stay standing still. The second smack is on the saddle, for the same reason.

Where are the Police they are becoming more ineffective by the day
The soldier has been out a few times to tell people to get behind the bollards,the police officers were just standing there chatting why didn’t they say something to these ignorant people.
All I see is the police talking all the time not doing there job how can they see what's going off around them if they not take any notice

Does anyone know why the guards hit their horse as they get off?
It’s warn the horse that the weight of the rider will be shifting as they dismount. The horse will then stay standing still. The second smack is on the saddle, for the same reason.
@@genny9026London city walks noted the other day, the smack, hit, tap, can sound so loud as the crowds tend to go quiet at dismount and the courtyard buildings can make the sound echo..
@@marywood6270 Yes. I’ve watched lots of the videos but only once, thought, “ That’s a bit of a heavy smack”. The horse seemed fine though and didn’t react at all. 🙂
@@genny9026 not sure what their gloves are made of, the palm part looks like chamois leather. So that could account too for how loud it can sound 😃
