If they had any idea about that area, they probably wouldn't hide there. Small town, kinda shady, but tight-knit. Everyone knows each other. New people kinda stand out, if they aren't passing through fairly quickly. Not big fans of outsiders. They're bored, they're nosy, and they're not well-off financially. Big "fish" hiding next to a small pond, LOL. My Dad and I used to go crappie fishing there. It's honestly not a great place to hide, though it might seem like it was to them. Oregon born and raised....grew up in Douglas county....those locals in Sutherlin are friendly, but somewhat suspicious of outsiders. Very small town. They also don't have much money, and they wouldn't mind throwing some creepy out-of-state strangers under the bus for a fat chunk of change. Lots of eyes will be watching.

Watching water boil is more exciting.
Sometimes putting out just a hint that people have a LITTLE information is good! It either makes one of the perpetrators talk or makes them run to the scene of the crime to move things, and then they get caught!

If law is aware of them, then they will put out word to all of the counties along I-5, north and south, Hwy 38 to the west, and law enforcement along the coast. Going east takes them out into the sticks, but it's a long way to get past all of the rural homes and ranches, and then you still can't really hide out there, especially during the various hunting seasons. It won't be hard to keep an eye on them.
