Some days are just like that, aren't they, John. Nothing seems to 'click' and as you rightly said, sometimes you just have to call it a day. Neat hovering, though 👍👍
John the Waco is such a beautiful UMX! Flies as good as it looks. I land mine with a bit of power and wheel land it FWIW. It doesn't seem to do well on a three point. Nice Hovers bro! You're welcome! Lol. Fun isn't it...
It's a beautiful plane for sure Adam! Yeah, I usually wheel land as well, but this one seems a bit heavier than the OG and falls out a tad earlier than the old one. I'll just have to carry some more energy on final. Thanks for inspiring me to try hovering...it's challenging and fun!
Nice job with the hovers John. You’re going to be a crack 3D pilot before you know it!👍 And just so you know you’re not alone I have a heck of a time getting a decent landing with my UMX Waco too.
usually on smaller models that tend to plop landing i push the battery forward and land on the mains with tail up and grease them for smooth touch downs to mother earth
Oh I hear you James, and was trying that, but I think the fact that this WACO is slightly heavier than the OG was messing with me. We'll get it right, thanks for checking in my friend!
You're stalling the wing about 3" off the ground. I suggest you adjust your throttle trim so you have the prop at a very low idle at low stick. (Not enough to cause the plane to move. Imitate an idling engine). I use the right rear switch on my DX8 as a throttle cut/throttle hold to ensure no prop movement until I'm ready to go. You might also add a little more expo to the elevator. That will help you find the sweet spot where the plane will flare and settle vs. stalling and falling. Your WACO is a pretty little plane. Happy Landings...
I know what you were going for there but at least every one of those landings was a success. Those UMX planes all seem to fly good but also seem just a little more twitchy than their larger siblings.

Thanks Gina! I totally agree with you, and at least I discovered it could hover 😁👍

Thanks for the kind words Mike! Trying to hover it might actually be easier than greasing this one in 🤣😁
Miss seeing you over at the chat in LF6B...they are back...hope you are doing well.
Hey there Tina!! Long time no see, I hope all is well with you! I'll have to check out the crew at LFS6B and join in the fun!

@@JustwingitRC its all about understanding whats causing its flight charactar and finding out how to improve it.

Thanks for the tips Rodger! I'll try 'em out next time I have the little WACO up in the air. All the best my friend 👍

I really appreciate the kind words my friend! I guess I'm just too much of a perfectionist, I want every landing to be a greaser 😉 Cheers 😁👍
looks good to me ! think of it as 'skipping stones' 🤣
Hah!! I like it my friend 😉👍😁
